Nodding in agreement, he gave a low, musing hum while listening to MARIA LANARO-MATISSE and Yumi Hasegawa speak their parts. Before long, he shifted his hand once more; chin still resting upon it, though against the back of it, rather than the palm.[break][break]

”Mmn, out of sight, out of mind,” he murmured lowly, reflecting briefly on the rumors and occurrences he’d heard before arriving in the region. ”Not healthiest way to cope, but I suppose it’s a way to cope~...”[break][break]

As if he were one to talk about healthy coping mechanisms.[break]

He idled for just a moment longer before moving back, turning towards the plate before him and taking the utensils provided within either hand. Far be it for him to tarnish the effort the chefs went through to serve such a decadent meal, so while it still basked within its warmth, he began to cut a piece of the steak off while listening.[break][break]

”I run a bookstore over in Slateport, though,” the man remarked, a continuous smile of politeness tugging gently upon his lips. ”Barely opened this past February, and I lived in Unova before that.”[break][break]

He paused briefly to take a bite of his meal, sighing softly in admiration as his lips instinctively tugged further along. Lest he give a front of ignorance, however, he took care to look back not too long after.[break][break]

”I’ve been told I don’t look the part, though— not for something as simple as that. It’s a bit funny, honestly~.”[break][break]

Despite his earlier efforts to keep himself in line, he couldn’t help but laugh again at the Spheals antics.[break][break]

”Rebellion could be fun within reason, though~,” he chuckled, grinning while softly patting the limp creature again. He eyed its head for a while longer before looking back towards its trainer again. ”It doesn’t look like they mean much harm, anyway. A lot of people around here are working with water for an event, too— I wouldn’t blame ‘em if they just wanted to cool down~.”[break][break]

He eyed her for a little while longer before patting the spherical Pokemon absentmindedly, and—after remembering that he, in fact, wasn’t its trainer—curled his lips inward slightly to stifle another laugh before holding it up towards her.[break][break]

”...That aside, though—... Stone, right? Daphne?” the Rocket mused questioningly, tilting his head faintly all the while.[break][break]

”Hmmmm… Honestly, I can’t exactly say I’m offering, really~...” he called down, raising a brow of amusement as he gazed from the lofts above for a while longer. ”It’d be the courteous thing to do, yeah— but I’m overdue for entertainment.”[break][break]

He gave a humming chuckle under his breath, only sparing a glance to those that seemed to stray away from the conversation and spectacle at hand, before long. Others that seemed to be immersed within their own novels, however, looked to be waiting with varying degrees of patience for the debacle to be over with.[break][break]

Understandable, truthfully. It was hard to keep focused on a good text with outside distractions, after all— and on an intimate level, he knew the difficulties of remaining relaxed when he hadn’t been drinking deep of the poisoned chalices of his other escapades.[break][break]

So, after idling for a while longer, he simply turned heel towards one of the staircases leading back down, his gaze following along the selfsame steps he trekked with a care for his own safety. Towards the last ones, however, he lifted his head to peer across the clearing again, giving other visitors in passing a quick and kind smile in greeting before reaching his destination.[break][break]

”...We do have ladders to help with the higher shelves, y’know~,” he mused, giving MARIA LANARO-MATISSE a brief look before leaning back slightly, looking past her as a familiar hound padded through.[break][break]

As if on cue, he nudged a stepladder along with his snout before sitting down with a soft, woof.[break][break]

”So long as they’re unoccupied, you’re free to use them,” he added, crossing his arms with a grin.

Just like it always seemed to in days long passed, there came a lull that followed the words he’d etched upon the page. For a few moments, he merely gazed upon them, rereading the lines he’d created for a few moments in an attempt to figure out how to continue them.[break][break]

Before long, however, a sigh left his lips as nothing came to mind.[break][break]

Another glance to a passing creature in the meantime. Another attempt to further gather his thoughts. After some amount of time, however, a second sigh escaped him as he set his pen down atop the booklet, shifting carefully (lest his work be flung into the tide) to pull his phone out, and alongside them, a small case.[break][break]

From the latter, he plucked an earbud out, and after he ensured its connection to the former, placed it within his ear as a familiar melody began to play. Inhaling deeply, he allowed the melodies to overtake him before taking the pen between his fingers once more.[break][break]

The next several minutes sped along in what felt like the blink of an eye.[break][break]

Back and forth, back and forth— it was a constant foot race not against time, but rather, the wellbeings of the scattered creatures. Dependable as ever, he kept a watchful eye upon his own Pokemon between their brief skirmishes and retrievals, alike, while partaking in the latter, himself. As they plucked those laying amidst the grasses and ferried them back to MARISOL SIMONE, he kept a vigilant eye towards his surroundings as he spritzed Pokemon after Pokemon with the antidotes he’d brought along, all before lifting them (the more willing ones, at the very least) into his arms.[break][break]

He’d barely completed another traversal before the blaring of sirens caught his ear, the shine of their lights meeting their tandem as he turned his head towards the source of it all. Rather than stepping back into the area, he simply leaned back within the steps he’d begun to take, watching as the vehicle came to a stop. He stood by the woman he’d accompanied as the others began to situate themselves and finish what they’d started.[break][break]

”...Guess we can rest easy, now~?” he hummed, sparing a brief glance towards the nursing student as he beckoned his birds back to him.[break][break]

Hopefully, it would be the case. The idea of kicking back and relaxing sounded favorable, to say the least.[break]
Maybe a trip back to The Cove Bistro was in order to do just that.[break][break]

Pride stopped her from requesting assistance, yet as the man behind the counter gazed on, he simply found himself watching with nothing shy of a touch of amusement within his eyes. Truthfully speaking, it was in his job description to aid anyone and everyone who looked like they may have needed help, yet at some point, he’d met eyes with a certain someone from the floor above— one that, like himself, had caught wind of the struggle occurring.[break][break]

Initially, he gestured towards the poor soul in silent inquiry, earning naught more than a bemused smile and a dismissive wave of the hand from the one above as he leaned his form against the railing, eying on with a watchful eye. They shared a few more conversational expressions before the one at the counter simply gave up with a quiet, albeit still amused sigh as he gave in for the moment, turning back to the computer before him.[break][break]

All it seemed to take was more insistence, as well as a silently mouthed, 'Don't worry about it, Atticus', as the ashen haired man made a subtle sway of the fingers by his neck, grinning.[break][break]

That selfsame person continued his gandering for another spell or so. His jaw cradled softly against the embrace of his palm as he remained situated against the barrings of the loft above, but after he deemed the entertainment to be enough, he shifted slightly in favor of allowing both hands and dangle leisurely amidst the open air before him.[break][break]

”You need help, there~?” he called out, never minding the heads that turned towards him upon hearing his voice, and then—when noting where his gaze seemed to be focused—towards the selfsame woman amidst the shelves.

Some minor degree of thought had brought the possibility of flying several of the wounded to the nearest city atop his Corviknight, but regardless, he had his answer. He eyed the woman for a few moments longer before nodding, striding over a few more paces to gently place the Furret in her care before gazing across the clearing once more.[break][break]

”I’ll trust your word, then,” he said with a nod, glancing briefly down towards his belt before tapping another Pokeball on his person to reveal another bird— that one much, much heavier and armored compared to the one that dwelled atop his head.[break][break]

He lifted his arm, prompting the latter to flutter down atop it as he looked between both avians.[break][break]

”Help me round up any Pokemon laying around,” he said, nodding towards the grasses while beginning to start towards them again. He flicked his harm all the while, sending the Fletchinder to join his Corviknight companion. ”Bring them back here— carefully.”[break][break]

He watched as they each gave a nod and trill, fluttering their wings prior to turning around and flying off. An azure hued gaze trailed alongside them as they went forth— though not without encountering the occasional, renegade Pokemon that seemingly sought to keep the terrain to their liking, regardless of skirmishing with others of their ilk to do so, almost as if in some means of turf war.[break][break]

Quick enough action from both of his companions, however, rendered those attempts nulled, much to his relief. The occasional Steel Wing and Flame Charge seemed to be flung onto the necessary parties as they engaged within their rescue efforts— and so, under their reassurance, their trainer began to jog off and follow suit.[break][break]

As swiftly as the fog had parted, the source seemed to be taken down accordingly; the Psybeam that caused it only blasting through for long enough to see the deed done. As the poison gas Pokemon faltered further and further, the Rocket peered up towards his bird as it continued its Tailwind above, reaching a hand up and gesturing for it to move the gaseous clouds further away. It gave a faint trill before following the wordless command.[break][break]

”And with that, we need to leave,” he murmured plainly, only sparing a brief eye towards the fallen Pokemon before his own returned to him, perching atop his shoulder for a quick preen through the man’s hair—what little of it showed, at least—before being recalled back into the sanctity of its capsule. ”Job’s been done, and as dark as it is, I’d rather not risk anyone snooping around while we’re still here.”[break][break]

Spoken to MARIA LANARO-MATISSE from a tongue that dripped so commonly of venom and silver, alike, depending on the given scenario. With a soft hum and an idling, straying gaze towards the stage before them, he crossed a leg across his lap, all while he lounged against the back of his chosen seat. In spite of the regality of the setting, there still remained a sense of leisurely atmosphere about him as he nestled his hands, loosely, within the confines of his pockets.[break][break]

”It definitely makes two of us, though,” he remarked on, chuckling, ”but, there was something a friend of mine had to tend to, so I just took my leave for now~.”[break][break]

Even if he could still glimpse them from the corner of his eye, sitting along the selfsame woman that had taken his seat upon his departure. He chuckled quietly.[break][break]

Yet his gaze remained upon them for a sparing amount of time, soon finding himself upon the performance before him, and then towards the sight of someone else. His eyes had almost parted from her—Yumi Hasegawa —as she started her way over, though upon noting that she’d had her eyes on their table, he found himself turning his head further into her direction with a touch of curiosity.[break][break]

”Hm. Neither have I, but I’m more than glad to amend that,” the bookkeeper responded warmly, taking her hand as it was extended toward him. ”Oriel~. And all of this is your doing, right?”[break][break]

He pulled his hand back, instead resting it against his head—and its arm against the table—as a spark of interest danced within his eyes, similarly to the smile that graced his lips.[break][break]

”It’s lovely entertainment,” he started off, giving a brief nod towards the stage, ”and an even lovelier event, altogether~. It’s hard not to enjoy myself, even with the state of the region.”

After just a shorter while more of brief examination, the man breathed a low, idling hum before gently lifting the Furret into his arms.[break][break]

Embraced within a cradle of his arm, he stood back up as the Fletchinder above head returned to him, perching atop the Rocket’s head with a faint bit of disdain from the both of them (balance was hard to come by, especially when the landing zone was both in movement, as well as a reluctant landing zone, altogether) as he began to walk back over towards MARISOL SIMONE.[break][break]

”Where should I bring the others?” he questioned with risen brows, briefly casting a look across the clearing once more. They furrowed slightly as quickly as they lifted at the sight of the remaining Pokemon in direct sight. ”Just here? Or are you gonna set a makeshift place up?”[break][break]

Initially, the pen laid betwixt his fingers merely remained still, in spite of the pressure he applied to it. What had begun as the drive to adorn the pages before him within the embroideries of his heart and soul had swiftly turned into a lull in thought. His brows furrowed softly within a quick realization of such, his tongue clicking softly as he absentmindedly tapped his the ballpoint against the sheets bound before him, almost as if there had been an underlying hope that it would help in some way.[break][break]
