No doubt he had been awed by her handy-dandy tower scaling device, or maybe the abstractor, or the fact that she’d become the league’s mining affairs dog, or maybe she was just finally acruing friends in the region?![break][break]

The opener of a book can decide its worth; a sentence can carry the weight of thousands of words. He was a man clearly under the shadow of an unfinished past but this was an offer he made now in the moment.[break][break]

Staring back at him, she patiently let the mood thicken. Even the boy at the counter, inexperienced as he was, could tell something was happening: and watching the local celebrity shoot his shot was the most interesting thing that would happen all week.[break][break]

When a kiss wasn’t forthcoming, Yujin felt the reticulating plates around her heart clink and shift—like an engine adapting once again for a new driver.[break][break]

“Let’s go, then,” she said, reaching for his hand while clutching the bruxish in the other.

The world righted itself in the manner of pale, psychic energy: the ship groaning as it tilted back in place, the people plopped upon its deck relatively unharmed and with a vastly more exciting day than they were expecting.[break][break]

“In mortal danger and you still have good manners.” Her tone implied, what don’t you have?[break][break]

Yujin was quick on her feet after the levitation. Scanning about the stragglers in the water, she couldn’t help but wince. Most of her collection preferred the bowels over the earth rather than the sea, but even the pale memory of the blizzardous mountain of her youth would suffice.[break][break]

A glalie materialized from her hand and floated down to sea level. Crackling sounds filled the air as water quickly froze over to ice near the wailord from before, impeding it near the surface. That ice would then flow outwards towards the half-drowned in the pattern of a great snowflake.[break][break]

“Target the wailord.”[break][break]

And that was the command for her porygon-z to HYPERBEAM the sitting duck-whale.

Her head tilted to the side ever so slightly. His biography on the app had offered some tidbits—far more than the average h/bimbo two-liner throwaway joke followed by eggplant emoji or whatever—but his natural manner offered all sorts of information.[break][break]

Yujin put her sketchpad down, matching her leafy counterpart in easygoing countenance. “Normally I would say ‘touch to your heart's content’, but with everything going on here lately, I suppose… don’t lick anything that glows?”[break][break]

The league had her on mining overtime lately. Tera crystals were one thing, the ultra deep sea was another. It wasn’t a glamorous job, which is why it paid so much.

“Oh, my.”[break][break]

Doggy playtime gone wrong leaves a smoldering pup at her darkening doorstep. The engineer head's had whipped towards the fusion pokemon upon its entry, and hadn't looked away since.[break][break]

The air sizzled and grew hot between the arcanine and arcanine-adjacent monstrosity. With one hand Yujin wiped away the sweat forming on her brow; with the other, she palmed the hilt of her seldom seen, rarely-drawn sword. The oscillating Eternatus core coats everything in a delirious, fever-dream shimmer.[break][break]

The nearby ‘wall’ bursts open in a shower of mineral that oddly resembles viscera. The rubble just so happens to fall upon the errant pokemon, and the drilbur-turned excadrill steps out with a hum singing down its claws.[break][break]

“Navy, would it bother you and Voyager if I did something ugly in the name of science?”

Today, her glalie was out. With a tremendous sense of tedium, an application of FREEZE DRY and a random pair of ice skates, Yujin almost didn't go diving.[break][break]

The key to diving was to not float. This seemed simple and somewhat ironic given the very real threat of drowning but it was shocking how many people struggled to actually get under the water.[break][break]

Not these divers, though. Yujin watched several of them end the day with everything from pokeballs to suspiciously gleaming stones. She wondered, would she ever even see a clamperl?[break][break]

The voice seemed sincere, as did the hurried transition to a kneel over Dylan’s supine form. But the way she stared at him from the bottom of her eyes and with a shit-eating grin destroyed any such credibility.[break][break]

“Here, let me help you up.” This would happen as the grindy battle continued in the background. Yujin saw no need to acknowledge the confrontation. Her time in Hoenn had desensitized her; people were pokemon magnets, and such creatures deserved to be caught with little more than 50 words in between actual character development.[break][break]

Eventually they would walk, and eventually Yujin would spy her own chance at a teacup creature. Her golurk came out in full force and gave it a ghostly sucker punch.[break][break]

“Well, you are the bold one to scare people on the road. What if you did that to someone actually dangerous?”
