“Quite,” was all he said, tight-lipped and terse. She thought he was mysterious, after all. Didn’t want to give the wrong impression. He does, however, shy away from her touch, a swift dip of his shoulders to dodge her fingers, before righting himself in his seat.

He caught Minuet’s thoughtful expression in the rear view as he shifted the car into gear.

“Unfortunately,” he said, bored, heading in the direction of the docks. He’d been required to study a map of the area prior to departing on this job; this, in itself, wasn’t a bothersome point. He was expected to do a variable amount of research in his profession. Knowing entrances and exits, for one; the habits and time management of his targets; but it had, he thought, felt like an awful fucking lot for a glorified delivery driver.

“Nothing like the fresh sea breeze to wake you up in the morning,” Crispin cheers, arms spread, face turned into the wind. On the cliff beside him, an individual sat trussed up in rope and with a bag over their head. There was a vague sound like clattering metal as they twisted and writhed to try and escape. “Oh, I forgot you can’t feel it, sorry.”

He stooped to pat the poor sod on the back. “So here’s how this works: I’m going to push you into the sea, and all the caesium alkali in your headbag is going to react with the water. Alkali earth metals do that, you know, quite violently. So as you sink, the reaction is going to eat away your face, and then your bones and skull and just about everything else.” He shrugged. “It’s just a nice touch, I think. Saves @topher some cleaning up.”

He stood and put a boot in the person’s back and kicked them over the cliff, listening with one ear cupped as the wind whipped away their muffled screaming until it cut off with a loud splash.

Despite being a member of an organized crime unit, Crispin rarely worked with a partner, directly. His facet in the business was best carried out as a singular act of determining force. But he was, despite his displeasure, just another brick in the wall, as it were, and each piece, occasionally, had to carry additional weight.

As a whole, he found this sort of thing beneath him. Maybe he hadn’t, once upon a time, but now he had more than enough blood on his hands to pay for his first-class ticket.

For his bit, he hangs in the shadows, dressed in black, and going unnoticed through the first few stages of chaos. He has to fight to not roll his eyes as he listens to the long monologues filtering out from within.

When it became clear that his intervention was not needed-- boo-- he cut a hasty retreat back to the car, and had it running before his… associates... returned.

“We should hurry. For all they can’t find their asses with both hands and a roadmap, there are police in this part of town.” He taps one finger on the steering wheel; quiet music filters out through the speakers.
