The location was marked on her handheld device. Some hobbyist diver had seen the luvdisc but wasn't a trainer and couldn't fix it. Thankfully, their report was detailed enough for some Rangers to handle it, and Robin had been eager to try her hand at such an unusual assignment. Plus, she rarely gave any of her water-types a chance to shine.

She fitted the headgear to her face to allow her to breathe and see properly at those depths, though the water pressure wasn't enough to warrant a full suit. "If we act fast, we might rescue the luvdisc before their stressed movements summon hostile pokemon." She released Phione into the water before jumping off the dock herself.

Robin opened a groggy eye to an orange blur raiding her apartment for a pot. "Hrrugh?" She said articulately.

She felt gross all over, simultaneously uninterested in food and starving for it. It felt like there was a swablu in her head, making it cotton-stuffy and impossible to think. Her cotton mouth made it hard to communicate what she was thinking. Ugh, she wanted Gwen. "Gwuh." She reached out for the figure before her. She should've taken things easier. Pushing herself hadn't done her any favors, now that she was bedbound.

Fever assaulted Robin's senses. She was in a small hostel room (a rented treehouse). She had come to Fortree to see if it was haunted by the ghost of Tropius as she'd overheard in a cafe. But almost overnight, her cruddy feeling had transformed and compounded into a huge batch of symptoms. Sure, she'd missed out on some sleep this week and her throat had felt funny but. Damn.

She didn't want to ask for help. She was so far from home, not that she'd ever ask them. Ugh. She didn't wanna bug Gwen, but... well, hey, the Ranger probably wasn't close enough to do anything anyways. Or maybe she was. Fever brain was making it hard to remember what she'd heard from Gwen the last time they chatted.

She dialed her friend up, but whatever she babbled on the phone, Robin couldn't say. Hopefully, she mentioned her address and a desire for soup. She fell asleep with the phone by her pillow, eyes far too tired to stay open.

Robin was under the weather. It was undeniable. She'd helped Gwen fight off Rocket members at a bank, and their celebration had been great, but she felt sick as a poochyena. She sniffled, trudging forward. Snorlax insisted on walking behind her, likely because he thought she'd fall (hater), but she really was capable of carrying on while she felt as bad as she did.

The duo had found such cool pokemon last time they'd visited the Safari. Gwen had liked some of the ones she caught so much that Robin had given them up instantly to make the other happy. Now, Robin was hoping to find something of a ghostly nature, and she wasn't going to let some stupid cold stop her.

The two Rangers were collapsed in a puddle while Gisath dispatched the Wyrdeer and Snorlax fretted over the unconscious duo. Before too long, the Rangers recovered from the attack and Gisath had Wydeer on the ropes. "I think that Wydeer packs a hell of a punch," Robin explained as she rubbed the back of her head. "Good luck training that thing."

Though, Gwen was far more patient than Robin; the nerdier of them would have no issue figuring out what approach to take to manage behavior. She was studious like that. "Psychics and dragons... what will I do with you?" She mused. As she got to her feet, she rapidly tapped Gwen's shoulder to get her attention, gesturing to the thing flying above that was gaudy in its color. "What's that one?" It was very clearly a dragon, though Robin was unaccustomed to seeing ones so ugly.

Admittedly, it warmed Robin to see Gwen taking such good care of the wildlife. She identified another out-of-place Dracovish and set upon catching it in a way that wouldn't stress the very wild pokemon. While she'd still rather Gwen pursue her own path rather than one the dragon lady set out for her, she had to admit that the proper Ranger care was making her grin like an idiot.

Maybe Gwen would help her like that if she got around to her ghost sanctuary.

Her thoughts were distracted as a large Wydeer came out of nowhere with a psyshield bash, launching Snorlax into the woods and well off the path. "Mun!" Robin cried out instinctively. She struggled to grab another pokeball from her belt, fingers twitching without coordination in her panic. The Wydeer brushed against the earth with a paw, readying itself to strike her with the same psyshield forming in front of its antlers. Oh, Arceus...

Robin's hands were covered with dirt when she heard the telltale sound of a visitor. She turned to see the odd pokemon nibbling on a tree leaf. "Oh no you don't!" The thing had a spark of electricity coming off of it, so she didn't dare risk touching it directly. She'd been electrocuted enough for one lifetime.

She sent out Gengar, and the cheeky menace didn't need any instruction. He knew the drill of the garden, especially as he loved munching on its berries. Gengar used Hypnosis on the hungry pokemon, assaulting its already weak mental fortitude. Then, Gengar followed it up with a Shadow Ball to push the little demon out and away.

post is a little late so i understand if u murk a tree / attacking, not catching

"You can go in any direction!" She insisted with a pout. "Don't feel stuck. Rangers need variety." It went without saying that dragons were a far more diverse type of pokemon than ghosts, but Robin wasn't sweating the small stuff. She made a retching sound as Gwen approached the egg pokemon with joy.

"Kick it to the curb already!" She turned away and held her arms, trembling a little. Psychics made her physically ill. She waited until the tell-tale sound of the pokeball capturing its target. Then, she turned and was pleased to see that it was gone. "Maybe don't branch out in its direction." She did NOT want to see Gwen use that stupid demon in battle. She couldn't stand exeggute. "Let's see what else we can find." She brushed past Gwen with her chin held up high, hoping to find something more riveting ahead.

Robin's eyes were glued to where Gwen held her hands, her heart fluttering. The studious Ranger looked her in the eyes, glasses falling, and spoke sternly, but none of the words made it to Robin's ears.

Geez, what was wrong with her?

She physically shook her head to rid the spell. "Erm, yeah, yeah, you got it." She hoped agreeing with Gwen was the correct answer. She flicked her gaze over to what Gwen was referring to while the cops handled the grunts. "Sounds good! I want the biggest sandwich right now..." She usually grazed and snacked while travelling Hoenn, but nothing pleased her more than an oversized sub. She used to eat a worrying amount when she spent time at Gwen's house, but her parents kept more interesting condiments that her own family, who didn't tend to even keep bread in the house.

Robin's excitement over the opportunity to study a Gabite subsided just in time for her to notice Gwen's strategy in taking down the Gyrados. Gwen was good about that kind of thing, strategy. Robin still hadn't learned all the type matchups. In fact, she often forgot them. She was fortunate Snorlax was so simple. She wouldn't have thought to use the environment against the Gyrados, either. Gwen's nerdiness was really helping her shapeup as a Ranger.

Robin was beaming with pride.

"Nice catch!" The big water type looked like a fearsome dragon. "Another dragon for the collection, though, hm? You're going to get as bad as me with favoring a type." But Arceus knew how badly she wanted a ghost sanctuary. At least the water dragon Gwen just caught would --

"Watch out!" She dove to the side of the path, in the bushes, as a malicious and fearsome and horrifying bundle of psychic-type eggs appeared on the path before them.

"Thanks for getting rid of that thing." Robin recovered swiftly, though there wasn't a lot of dignity one could regain after reacting so drastically to a descending bird. She then pointed off to the side of their path where a pokemon similar to Gisath was nibbling an oran berry. "Look! It looks like yours!" Snorlax wasn't sure from her tone of voice if he should attack it or not, so he stood and stared at her blankly.

Robin rolled her eyes with a smile. "No need to fight; it's distracted. I love catching a hungry pokemon." She pulled a pokeball and tossed it. She'd be able to study the pokemon in her down time and figure out Gwen and her Gisath a little more. Or train it to defeat Freya Morningstar for changing Gwen into a mini-Freya, but she had time to organize a strategy before beefing with the woman.

Gwen performed perfectly; her and Gisath were in sync much as Robin and her Snorlax always were. It was warm and comforting to see her friend take care of herself so well. Robin put the bitterness and loathing away and let herself, this once, be Gwen's cheerleader, whooping as Gisath finished the Rockets off.

Officers were definitely on their way, but Robin was a little nervous about the bank manager. Her use of earthquake earlier would've disturbed the customers inside. She wasn't sure she could sell that the earthquake had been natural and not a result of Snorlax... though, it was a TM she'd used to teach him. Surely the bank manager wouldn't know that Snorlax had the capacity for that ground type move, right?

She didn't want to stick around and get in trouble, but she couldn't leave Gwen to face the music alone. "I'm sorry for overreacting," she finally said to her best friend. "I can explain to the bank manager that the disaster out here was my fault. You shouldn't get in trouble for the earthquake or all the ice out here now."

"Watch out!" She dove to the ground to avoid the diving Espathra, which landed in front of them and fluttered his wings with a tinge of annoyance like they were intruders and not two girls walking through nature like dutiful Rangers. "Ugh, I can already tell. This thing is sick. Psychic." She rubbed at her temple, feeling the edge of a headache forming. Psychics were always attracted to her and with malicious energy.

"Snorlax, get rid of the thing!" She took a step back while Snorlax moved up to hit it with hammer arm. She stumbled backwards, falling on her back. At her feet was an Oshawott, which became subject to a descending pokeball knocked loose from her fall. She hit the ground with an 'umph,' but heard the pokeball capture noise and registered it belatedly. "What's that little guy doing up here?" She wasn't expecting water pokemon up this high.
