Gracie Mae stood just outside of Petalburg Woods, dressed suitingly in a plaid shirt tucked into a pair of jeans and brown hiking boots. Both of her hands clutched at the straps of her backpack as she hummed and rolled back and forth on her heels. Currently, she was waiting to meet with her partner for the job she had just volunteered for.[break][break]

"A couple of combees should be a piece of cake," the redhead spoke to her miltank. Annie Mae gave a nod in agreement. She was as blissful as her trainer in both spirit and movement.[break][break]

At the sight of another person approaching, Gracie Mae began to wave her hand high in the air. "Hello!" she shouted to Elise Calcifet. "Are you here for the combees? We're working together!"[break][break]

With her "snowboy" complete, Gracie Mae decided to take a stroll through the area and see what everyone else had made. There were snowboys of all sizes and shapes with their own personal touches.[break][break]

The breeder turned her head up to the skies when she heard a resounding roar break through. A green dragon twirled about the clouds, whimsical and elegant. The sight of the rayquaza was a spectacle. Gracie Mae held a hand up to block the sunlight as she followed the dragon's movements.[break][break]

"Hm, yes, that's good," Gracie Mae hummed to herself as she made the final touches of her snowboy, or rather, snow dragonite. It wasn't particularly large in size, standing at about half her size, and the shapes were still round. What made hers different was the added tail at the back and several branches she used to create the wings at the back. The most detail was in the head piece which she carefully formed into the shape of a dragonite's beak. But even after all her work, the snowboy was sloppy. Even a trained eye would have a hard time figuring out it was supposed to be a dragonite.[break][brea]

Gracie Mae smiled at a confused darumaka, its head bobbing in confusion at the abomination she had just created for them. "Well, it is the year of the dragon, isn't it?" she retorted playfully.[break][break]

Before long, a wild gloom walked into their path, oblivious to the breeder and her pokemon. Gracie Mae sat up, instantly attracted. "Cal, hold on!" she informed the ponyta. He came to a gentle stop to try and not surprise the gloom.[break][break]

Gracie Mae reached into her backpack to pull out a pokeball. "I'm going to try and catch it! Pebbles, I choose you!" She tossed the ball from her hand to release the vullaby.[break][break]

Pebbles ruffled her feathers against the cold. She pecked at the snowy ground and clawed at it with her talons. Gracie Mae giggled at the little bird's behavior. "Ok, Pebbles, think you can use a GUST on that gloom over there?" the redhead asked, her voice kind and considerate. She knew her vullaby was still just a baby.[break][break]

Little Pebbles looked ahead, thinking, and then nodded vigorously. She gave a lighthearted chirp before flapping her wings as fast as she could! The GUST was small, nothing to ride home about, but it was enough to have the gloom knocked off its feet and startled. Before it could get away, Gracie Mae threw another pokeball, this one empty.[break][break]

The three of them waited, watching the pokeball roll back and forth, until it dinged pleasantly. "Yes!" the breeder exclaimed. She hopped off the carriage to retrieve her newly caught gloom and gave Pebbles a loving pat on the head. "Gloom are poisonous, which makes them great for creating antidotes!" She was about to go on a spiel about the gloom's other benefits, but her stomach made an audible sound. Her excitement would have to wait till they at least got some lunch!

Though the journey was not long from Littleroot to the next town, Oldale, Gracie Mae could already feel her stomach begging for food. She looked up to the sky, the sun a gentle warmth on this otherwise chill morning. She tried to convince herself to hold out for the next thirty minutes it would take them to arrive to Oldale.[break][break]

"Hanging in there ok, Cal?" she spoke to the ponyta. He gave a proud sound of affirmation. "Good, good. We'll take a break when we reach Oldale, alright? I've got some snacks for you." Hearing that made Cal whine in anticipation and pick up speed a little.

Route 101's normally grassy terrain was currently covered in a light layer of snow. Here and there, Gracie Mae could see footsteps left behind wild pokemon. Even though she and her ponyta were the only ones in sight, it was a gentle reminder that they weren't alone.[break][break]

"Nice and steady, Calcifer," the breeder instructed the ponyta from the other ends of the reigns. Calcifer whinnied. The wheels of the carriage rolled with a little resistance against the snow, but it wasn't bad enough to keep them from pushing forward. The carriage was empty now since Gracie Mae had made her deliveries, making it all the easier for Calcifer to carry them forward.

Gracie Mae's backside was completely dressed in fresh snow from her snow angel. She wiped at her legs and bottom and shook bits of white fluff from her hair. "There," the redhead spoke with bemusement as she looked over the perfectly crafted imprint left in the snow. "Well! Better do what I came here for, right, Gracie Mae?" she said simply to herself, and with a pat of her hands, headed towards the direction of the ice-type darumaka.[break][break]

Already, there were several snowboys in process, of all kinds of sizes. Gracie Mae found herself an empty patch of snow to begin hers. With delicate hands, she began to pound bits of snow together and roll them for the perfect sturdy base.[break][break]

Gracie Mae cheered and clapped for Ollie's short and sweet speech. She had her heart set on one thing and one thing only today - fun. Without a moment further, Gracie Mae broke from the crowds and found herself a patch of pure, untouched snow. "Whew!" She let gravity do the work for her and fell straight into the snow.[break][break]

"Ahaha! Winter simply is the best!" Gracie Mae sang as her arms and legs rhythmatically slid back and forth to form the perfect snow angel. It didn't matter to her if others saw her and judged her for being a child - wasn't that what this whole event was for? To find small moments of joy?[break][break]

Gracie's harvesting was nearing its end, and just in time. She could feel the low grumbles of her stomach nudging her to get food. As she collected the last of her herb, Gracie heard a small, muffled noise.[break][break]

To her right, a litleo dangled forward with its injured paw. It mewed, weak, seeking help.[break][break]

"Oh!" Gracie immediately dropped the last herb she intended on picking up to come over to the litleo's aide. "You poor thing." Her nurturing instincts took over. With gentle hands, Gracie examined the wild litleo's paw. She was no nurse, but Gracie understood the litleo was hurt enough to come to her for help. She didn't want to betry its trust.[break][break]

"Mm. It's settleed," she said with a short nod. "You're coming with me! I'll take you back to my ranch and get you fixed right up!" Gracie reached into her knapsack to pull out a handkerchief. "For now, this will have to do." She wrapped the litleo's paw slowly. "I'll carry you back home, get you some warm milk. You'll love it. Annie Mae makes the best milk." She spoke with a cheery tone to relax the litleo, let it know that things were going to be okay.[break][break]

It was time to return home. Gracie lifted herself to her feet, the little litleo in her arms like a baby, and carefully walked down the path of Roue 112.[break][break]

Hooves clacked gently against the rockbed. Gracie's head popped up to see the flame-crested horse slowly sniffing out for plants in the dust of snow. She watched in silent bliss, hoping that one day her very own ponyta would blossom into a wonderful rapidash such as this one.[break][break]

She continued picking at the herb, now humming to herself a tune she had picked up from a recent TV show about people on a resort island with pokemon. It didn't take long for Gracie to move on to the next spot, her search not yet over.

✿ gracie mae is an up and coming breeder in the hoenn region. her home and business is called jolly ranch, located on route 117. prior to her opening the ranch, gracie mae resided in lavaridge where she worked under an old couple to earn money and gain experience. before this, she was born and raised in the johto region.[break][break]

✿ her most defining feature is her motherly tendencies. she's naturally warm and caring but not naive. nevertheless, against her better judgement, gracie mae is willing to help the worst of criminals if she sees they are suffering and in need. the world may not be as beautiful and joyful as her spirit, which is why she hopes her acts of kindness can piece it back together bit by bit.[break][break]

✿ if you ask her for her age, she'll tell you she's twenty-six. she's highly aware that her biological clock is ticking, and it's one of the few things she's self-conscious of. up to this point, she's had a few relationships, all very normal and typical. no one has ever made her excited enough to take the plunge. at the end of the day, if all she has is her ranch and pokemon, she believes she couldn't be more happy.[break][break]
