Lucas stumbled above countless rose bushes as far as the eye can see. Hidden among them was a roserade tending to the bushes as if they were her children. Weeds are pulled from the ground and tossed into an ever-expanding pile. Winter damage to the plants is carefully broken off. The grass type carefully snapping the parts off. Part way through the Roserade's routine Lucas began to watch from afar. He could smell both the sweet aroma of the roses and the pokemon. They were intoxicating.

Here too Lucas spent his time. Admiring what came with the Spring. But he didn't linger long. There were other sights to see within the Safari Zone.

Lucas found himself at the shore of a bank. The water is still and clear as day. Bending down he placed his hand just under the surface of the water. He couldn't tell it was submerged beside the feel of the water. The water's purity astounded him. As the scientist rose he looked towards the center of the pond. There in the center, he saw an Alomomola submerged deep in the water. It swam elegantly through the water, leaving only the slightest ripple on the water's surface.

After taking in the pond for several minutes Lucas left. He moved deeper into the Safari zone in search of other pokemon.

The snow had melted since the last time Lucas was in the Safari. Colourful flowers rose from the earth, several in full bloom already. Rays of sunshine trickle through the branches overhead. The leaves are dark green, an echo of the grass below. A cool gust of wind blew across the enclosure. It tickled the scientist's face. Breathing in he'd take in the sweet smell of the trees. It felt so good to be out. To be somewhere besides his laboratory for once.

The signal vanished as quickly as he'd found it. Lucas retraced his steps in hope of finding the signal again. But it was gone, completely gone. It mystified him. In defeat, the head scientist made his way back towards the entrance of the cave. Here he found something of equal value to what he'd lost. At Lucas' command his pokemon surged forward towards the Omanyte.

The pokemon clash, the sound filling the cavern. Rocks and an artificial blizzard flew through the air as the battle raged. Its end came with the Aegislash's blade. A sacred aura covered the blade as it was brought down against the fossil pokemon.

A pokeball whistled through the air, colliding with the shell of the fossil pokemon. It disappeared in a second. The ball shook back and forth as it strains to contain the pokemon within.

"I can hear something. But is it the power?" The situation didn't strike Lucas as something so simple. "The rest of the powers still going. It shouldn't be doing this," he said. The words came out rapidly, some slurred together. His mind raced as he thought of potential causes and solutions to the situation. With Perse's word's it'd finally dawn on him.

Something had gone awry with the machine. An unforeseen development with the experiment.

Lucas followed his colleague's lead as he released a Heliolisk. A command shot out from him immediately. The room lit up as the Heliolisk used thunder on a set of conductors. "This is going to be unsustainable. Circuits aren't often made to take in this much power." The scientist found himself hovering over a board filled with numerous buttons, levers, and sliders. Few were labelled, much less useful. "What needs this kind of power anyway?"

The detector beeped in Lucas' hand. His heart pounded faster in response. He was finally nearing a sample.

A pebble fell from up high. The sound resonated through the cave. The scientist turned his head upwards. He found a Xatu looking down upon him inquisitively. "Peculiar," he thought aloud. Xatu wasn't a pokemon Lucas had expected to find within the caves. "Perhaps?" An idea struck him, that the pokemon wasn't wild. That he wasn't as alone in the cave as he'd thought. He motioned for his pokemon to stick close.

Claydol recoiled at the pawniard's strike. In the moments that follow Lucas cried out as he takes a punch to the jaw. He stumbles from the punch, falling against the scorched floor. Jaw clutched in one hand the head scientist rushed to get back up. Only to fall back as the Ho-oh swiped its talons only a few feet away from him. He watched in horror for a moment as his attacker meets their demise to the false god.

Red light illuminated the edge of the platform as Lucas released Bastiodon. The fossil pokemon tensed as it laid eyes upon the result of man's greed. Despite its fear Bastiodon stood firm between the Ho-oh and its owner, a protect ready in the event things go awry. "Get ready Geb" Lucas cried as he'd rush towards Boris. The Rocket traitor turned from intimidating to pathetic at the sight of the corrupt Joey Kim. The time was right, Jirachi was ripe for the plucking. Unsure of Isra Nightingale 's allegiance the scientist raced the woman's gardevoir towards his prize. Much like Isra Lucas' claydol waited to teleport him away in the event of a deadly attack.

Lucas couldn't allow Jirachi to fall into Rocket hands. But more importantly, he couldn't let the Ho-oh continue its rampage. He dreads the thought of what it would do if it managed to leave the island. The intent of Lucas' desire for Jirachi was no longer a question.

The scientist leapt towards Boris in a foolish attempt to beat Gardevoir. "Jirachi I wish to bind Ho-oh" he cried as he'd reach out to touch the wish granter. He was so close.

The man recognized him. How he did Lucas wasn't sure. Perhaps an educated citizen? That'd be a first. Lucas recognized the pale man as well, to his own astonishment. He was on the front page of the most recent issue of the Hoenn News Network. He had a face that was hard to forget. But his name, that was easy to forget for the head scientist.

"Is everyone out?" He said, forgoing his usual formalities. As the trainers ran the kabutops shot mud towards various fires. They sizzled in response, dead within moments. "How'd this even happen?" The tower moaned as a support pillar is consumed by flames. The heat licked Lucas' face as he ran deeper into the burning sanctuary.

The lopunny stuck out like a sore thumb in the crowd, the mutated tyrosinase gene the cause. Lucas watched from afar as the swarm entered the remains of a Castle on the hill. It was what he'd originally aimed to find that night. To scour it for artifacts to add to his collection. Instead, he found something that was far, far more valuable. He knew the pokemon would go for a pretty penny at auction.

Silently and slowly the head scientist closed the gap between himself and what little remained of the castle. Once close enough to hear the pitter patter of the bunny girls he threw a pokeball.
