As stupid as the entire concert idea was, she had to admit she was having fun. [break][break]

She was glad to see Kasper getting involved with Rocket projects after their chat forever ago in HQ. Rhea had been her knight in shining armor when Combees attacked. Fenelle was a newer face to Ameena, but der energy was inspiring. It was fun. [break][break]

And at least she felt productive while knocking against the cowbell rhythmically. Their propaganda was working. The sponsorship display would sow seeds of distrust in the organization if Rocket lost the propaganda war, and it would put League in a difficult spot if Rocket didn't lose the propaganda war - because why would the League support organizations that funded Rocket? [break][break]

A win-win. So she turned around on stage and revealed the verbage on the back of her shirt that would be for sale after the concert, merch for any of the viewers to indulge in.

What a fascinating question. This was the value of putting someone outside of your field in a situation to understand your work.[break][break]

"If the infinite multiverse theory is true, no. Those doors are a result of every branching decision you have ever made. However, the doors that appear to you, I believe to be a response to your subconscious. I think we can gain the ability to manifest a door - an exact alternate reality - and enter it. It went without saying that it might never happen, that it may not happen in her lifetime, that the theory is completely wrong in its entirety. The path sprawled ahead. She had little interest in the wildlife that fluttered across the area. Pyre had more activity than it should have. She had expected the pokemon here to have evacuated by now. Inevitably, there would be some upset party jumping out at her. No one could travel very peacefully these days. She kept Musharna close.

It's as if he knows how desperate she actually is to hear from her prior subject, the way he teases information. But she enjoys the chase. [break][break]

She confesses what she's shared with no one else: "I dream every single night." [break][break]

She leans back in her chair. "It is a rare condition. Everyone dreams, but few remember it upon waking. I am unable to forget. I recall a dream every night, and they vary, though I tend to revisit the same handful of scenarios." She exhales slowly. "I would label none of them as bad, even those that haunt my waking hours, because I theorize that each dream is a pocket dimension in the dream realm." Hell, why not indoctrinate him into the whole theory. What has she to lose? Perhaps, if his subconscious chews on her theory, he will get closer to experiencing it than she has because of his unusual proximity to the divine. [break][break]

"If the dream realm is a house, each pocket dimension can be accessed through a door. When you sleep, your mind walks you down those endless hallways and picks a door, and your dream is you accessing your conscious in another world. I posit that it is possible to intentionally walk through this house and choose a door to step through." Far-fetched, maybe. But in a world of gods, monsters, and time-space rifts, how far is far-fetched? Is it ever out of reach? [break][break]

She leans forward. "What doors have you been walking through, Matias?"

The girl's tantrum only amused Ameena and Gardevoir both. "This is how things were meant to be. Victors, and losers." Yuina's little captain was caught on fire, but before Ameena and Gardevoir could savor it, the two were launched into a time-space distortion. [break][break]

Gardevoir's rage grew ten sizes as they were surrounded with an unfamiliar land. Clearly, they were not where they were previously. Perhaps, they were, and only the year had changed. It was hard to tell with these rifts, and with not one but TWO space-defying gods on the battlefield, Ameena could rule out nothing about the time-space distortion. Iron Treads charged at her, and Gardevoir violently flung them backwards, nearly growling with her feral fury. [break][break]

"We can get back," Ameena said breathlessly, and the two turned to see where the rift lie across the sky above them. Gardevoir clutched Ameena unkindly and flew up, up - [break][break]

The battlefield was the same, barring the sea level that had risen considerably. And that Ameena was in a slightly different position. And, scouring the area, it was clear that ollie morales was healed. [break][break]

Gardevoir's anger reached a fever pitch. Unfortunately, Yuina's savior was behind a shield now with some other kids, facing Necrozma and a Celesteela, but the girl? She was fair game. Ameena knew the shield would break eventually, so she easily turned focus on Yuina. Gardevoir launched mystical fire at Yuina.

Despicable? Gwen had some theories about shadow pokemon, then. "It is not always a result of experimentation. Shadow pokemon can occur in nature. Why, though, we do not yet know. Nihilego toxin has been known to turn pokemon into shadow, but this is rare. I am unsure what factors could determine success or not in turning one shadow." [break][break]

She did no work with poisons. Nihilego had an interesting effect on the psyche, so they were worthy of study, but they were not her priority. She had more pressing theories. [break][break]

"Ultra Space is a place of limitless potential. Where else can we enter an alternate world or a pocket dimension? Using rifts to travel like this to places that defy logic and natural laws... who could pass it up?" There were answers to be found here, to questions she did not yet know to ask. "As a scientist, I would be a fool not to take every opportunity to visit."[break][break]

The tower finally appeared before them. Excellent. They had one last bout of exploration before it was time to leave the city. They had to make the most of their ticking clock before the Megalopolans swarmed them. "No dilly-dallying; we should get inside and see what we discover."

A large crystal would stand out. She fell in line with Lulu as they walked through the area to find it. Ameena hummed thoughtfully at Lulu's assertion. "By channeling tera energy?" It could be possible. Since tera crystals were such condensed energy sources with unmapped potential, harnessing it could open the dreamscape. They seemed to have some sort of relationship with time-space distortions, so it wasn't too "out-there" for a scientific theory.[break][break]

Perhaps, infinity energy could also open the dream realm. Ameena had little experience with it. She rarely used mega evolution with Gardevoir given how odd she felt when the psychic's powers were expanded. Gardevoir's sadism and blood lust seemed to influence Ameena, and the scientist was no fan of being puppeted. [break][break]

They came around the bend to see a considerable tera crystal. "This should work." Musharna floated closer. It was hard to parse if the dream pokemon felt nervous or excited around tera crystals. Ameena had yet to imbue the pokemon with any, but empowering her psychic abilities was in Ameena's best interest. "I have yet to willfully enter the dream realm this way." She tried not to sound nervous. "The interdream zone tends to sneak up on me." Literally. She wondered if it had a mind of its own.

Staraptor kept its eyes above, giving Xurkitree the opening it needed to assault the Avalugg from below. Xurktiree struck with power whip to knock at the beast and tie it up. However, Avalugg broke free of the restraining whip and stomped Xurkitree into the ground. [break][break]

"This thing is powerful," she said through gritted teeth, moving closer to the man that'd come into the distortion with her. "We need to-" Xurkitree used electrify to shock it from underneath its foot. The Avalugg cried out as it was paralyzed. [break][break]

Good: a window of opportunity. "While it's stuck, we need to look to see if the distortion is around." If they didn't get back through the rift, they'd be trapped in the past. The flurry of ice and snow around them made it hard to trace what direction they'd come from. "Can your Staraptor scout for it in this weather?"

Ameena wasn't one for flattery, but from a scientist, and from an esteemed one at that, made her week. She smiled at Nomi but kept a close eye on her own blue Unown, drenched in shadow. She had spent some time monitoring its behavior since it became shadow, fearful it would be violent as it had when Cillian had turned it, but the Unown had seemed to relax over the brief period of time she'd had it. [break][break]

"Your work is more worthy of praise," Ameena insisted. "Unown are a powerful tool. They are so unlike any other pokemon." She looked to Kallistatus as it openly assessed her, unsure if she should offer anything to it as it seemed to observe her. That was the thing: those Unown were always observing. Their eyes had unsettled her when she first encountered them in the RKS simulation, but she had grown to accept it as their thing. Psychic pokemon tended to have quirks in her experience anyhow. [break][break]

Her Unown stayed an appropriate distance away from Nomi and Kallistatus, but Ameena held her palm out for her Unown to rest on. "I wanted to know if my own Unown was in your network. I want it to be useful." She'd also like to know if she was wielding her own surveillance equipment; it would be best not to bring it whenever she met with Montgomery James , which was inevitable. "I am unsure if its status as a shadow pokemon changes anything. But it also has some... odd ability I have not seen before. My Musharna possesses a z-move, but shortly after rendering this Unown shadow, it developed one as well." Maybe it was something all Unown could do that she simply hadn't known about.

For the record, the assignment was to overpower the sound of League performance, so the visuals were unnecessary. She didn't care for the color choices, but at least she had to give credit where things mattered: der taste in music was impeccable. [break][break]

She followed along faithfully with her cowbell. She mouthed along, but she couldn't deliver it the way Rhea was. Ameena knew better than to try. Besides, had she ever tried to harmonize with someone after childhood? [break][break]

The cowbell wasn't necessary a depressing or melancholic instrument innately, but Ameena did her best to register some tone of sadness that would suit the song.

The pressure is on. She feels a heavier weight from her company than from the task at hand, concerned about the consequences to disappointing an Admin, a Beast, and one of the greatest minds Rocket has to offer. She's grateful to demonstrate her scientific skillset, as her combat experience has been poorly suited for the nature of battle in Hoenn - though she's spent countless hours lately to rectify it. She recognizes the path they're taking to the tower. She's been several times with the ever-competent Gwendolyn Conway , but she isn't sure it's wise to name the Ranger. She doesn't want Gwen to face any scrutiny when Ameena has not yet groomed her into becoming a research partner and fellow Rocket; admittedly, she wants no scrutiny on herself if the League interaction seems suspicious. "I have been before." Her gaze falls to a defunct z-crystal on the ground. "The Guzzlord were unexpected." She hadn't cared for the lack of clarity she'd gotten on Megalopolan technology. If only she'd held onto Novina back in the Penitentiary. [break][break]

Ah, she was pleased to hear how much he had witnessed. "A few different things," she answers. She holds the Wish Tag in her hand. Verdanturf shakes around them, falling like pieces of a shattered puzzle. The scenery beneath it is Galar. [break][break]

"You experienced the Galar Memory. I was not in Hoenn when that event occurred, though I have been finding pieces of its effects in the psyche of many." The reveal of Galar is not its current landscape, but close. Maybe thirty years prior. Not too different, but to her, it is entirely different and filled with warmth. This is her wish, to return. But this Galar is one where her mum still draws breath. That, itself, is the core of her wish. [break][break]

The simulation washes it away. A new scene will begin. Her dream is unrealized. "My work is largely constrained to sleep studies. My Musharna, however, has recently developed a unique ability that allows us to see someone's unconscious mind while they're partly awake." She had yet to execute it on many, though. It was fairly experimental.
