"I am not so familiar with the mechanics of the mask, or with the beast behind it." She caught Kasper's implicit question, the one underneath what they asked. Ameena thought it was a helpful apparatus, and it made Mint more approachable than the beast might have otherwise been with a blank mask, but she was unsure of the beast's temperament. Rockets were quite unpredictable in that sense. [break][break]

Tempest was a welcome sight, but Ameena knew the two of them would need to really bring it. "It is good that you know him. But now you must impress him." She smiled despite herself. She was aware he was trying to bring together a task force for more organized training. And she was aware she was welcome to join it. The invitation would certainly be revoked if she failed here, but she didn't doubt herself. She intended to succeed. [break][break]

"The decisive are rewarded with victory," she recited for Kasper's benefit. "It would be foolish to put the battle on his terms; let's attack." She charged forward. Tempest had one of the more refined physiques, so close quarters was by no means easy, but her height made her hard to toss around or grapple. She went for more of a tackle, aiming to unbalance him and garner his full attention so Kasper could land a punch.

She sighed. He wasn't wrong. She could have limited the Unown's freedom more. "They like to watch. I figured it did no harm to let it travel since it's better equipped than natural, wild Unown to defend itself. Who knows what it could discover?" They weren't easy to notice, which made them good spies. [break][break]

It would have been great news to say it had seen some kind of League movement. "I will have to work on its ability to recall. Normally, my psychic pokemon are well-attuned." Most had passive telepathy to assist in location and commands. And speaking of, she instructed Sigilyph to use gravity on the Toedscool walking far ahead of them, pressing it to the ground for easy capture. "It could not have gotten far," she assured. She let her gaze rest on his own shadow pokemon, curious as to how his originated. Perhaps, he had subjected it to one of Cillian's tests also. "The city holds many elements of interest. I think that factor is what really counts against us."

When Tempest reaches out, she can't help but think that this is when she faces the music. She spent countless hours in June perfecting her notes on the sleep study and its results despite the unorthodox testing conditions, but she couldn't yet contribute it to the Rocket library. She wanted to, desperately. She wanted to share what she'd learned and even offer some comfort to those involved, but that would require acknowledging their involvement. [break][break]

Something about, 'my porygon's beta test code initiated an actual study instead of testing the parameters for pulling potential volunteers because of one line code - I swear it was only ever meant to test its usage of census data,' strikes her as an unacceptable excuse. [break][break]

Running is not an option. Fighting is less of an option. She doesn't know Temp well enough to predict his actions, but she hopes sitting at her desk, unarmed, with neither of her pokemon out, is a good enough show of faith to let them having a conversation about things without torture or murder or whatever other punishment Rocket dishes out for internal catastrophes.

Word of Admin Fox' injuries spread fast. Faster than it should've, probably. Or maybe that was just how it felt given that Ameena had kept her ear to the ground about Howard's movements. Of all of the sleep study participants, she knew his mind was one of the most suspicious. She couldn't be sure if he would retaliate. Hearing of his most recent trauma, it was pertinent to see how he was doing in case everything snowballed into a broken mind, which she feared would be considered her fault. [break][break]

She had slipped into his hospital room easily with Gardevoir's skillset. Gardevoir would have the task of keeping her in Howard's mind and acting as sentinel by deterring medical staff. While Howard was clearly injured and scarred, she suspected he could survive with a missed nurse round or two.[break][break]

The dreamscape unfolds like an evenly-creased map, though the background is blurry and abstract to her as her mind tries to settle into his. She appears exactly as she is. There is no need to try and manipulate things when she bears no ill-will. She isn't sure which of theirs is the dominant mind in this connection, anyways. [break][break]

The dreamscape begins to shape around her as she more solidly finds herself in his dream. "Howard?"

Cora pulled close to the Inteleon at Ameena's sound of interest. The Inteleon was not focused on them as it was transfixed on some sort of treat it was consuming. It looked like something professionally made, so nothing that could be foraged in the wild. She wondered if it was a thief or perhaps a captured pokemon that had been left to its own devices. No matter; she saw it and wanted it. [break][break]

Ameena slid off of the Corviknight and let her soar up high to use brave bird on the unsuspecting pokemon, bashing him into the ground and giving Ameena the perfect opportunity to hoist its unconscious form onto Cora.

STEEL CHEF 2024 COOKING CONTEST

Kalosian cuisine was incredible. They arguably relied on butter far too much, but damn if they did not create the greatest pastries in the world. Aromatics were important, too. Kalosian food was an experience. She had little experience cooking it, but she understood the pillars of the culinary tradition. [break][break]

She would normally default to the steak frites, but she had made steak and potatoes last round, so she had to switch things up. She loved quiche lorraine. She had spent little time in Kalos, and her favorite quiche lorraine actually came from a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Johto, but she would do her best faithful recreation. [break][break]

She chose oinklogne for the quiche and got to chopping. She mixed in the ham with her eggs and seasonings and poured in a questionable amount of cream. These were fluffy, delightful quiches. She couldn't risk serving them a dense puck. Thankfully, it heated evenly and came out looking just like the ones served in Laverre City - or so she felt. Perhaps, she was giving herself too much credit. But it smelled delicious and, she was sure, tasted incredible.

Cora flew them low to the ground. With how things were shaking out, she couldn't be sure the League hadn't doubled down on anti-aerial assaults. She also couldn't be sure there weren't elite four members hiding in the bushes. Or a god on League payroll. Her paranoia had grown tenfold as the conflict amped up. She was unsure she would get through this one unmedicated like she had in Galar. The stakes seemed impossibly higher on this continent. She couldn't explain it.

She thinks both of them can benefit from something unarmed. More than that, she knows Tempest as a warmer personality than anyone else in Rocket, and he's easy to get along with. [break][break]
