The red stone cracks in your grip, shatters.

When you look, what you are holding instead is a dead Ariados. Somehow, you know it is Hideo's. Somehow, in all your righteous anger, this symbol takes you back to that moment of comforting him, and it is a sobering thought.

The man you were in that moment and the man you are now, in this one, they exist in the same body. You are all that you have ever been and all that you ever will be. Rebirth, renewal, reincarnation seem to surround you in some way, but have you become a new body, mind, and soul with all that you have experienced?

For a brief moment, you feel like you are of three minds. You see a snapshot of three outcomes.

1 - An experience: raw forgiveness. The scars you bear differ from his but are all the same, ultimately, in how they ache incessantly. The earth may swallow you, but you will ruin it, meanwhile. For all your shortcomings, no one can say you don't leave your mark wherever you go. The earth closes around you, but nothing can grow for miles around it, ever. You have ruined it.

3 - An observation: the cycle. The story repeats. It doesn't matter if you want to love them or flee from them or own them. You kill them in some way, some form. They always haunt you in some way, some form. What you want doesn't matter. What you do will always kill them. What remains will be their ghost. You are a harbinger. You are better than others because you know the story, while others cannot comprehend theirs.

For a brief moment, you feel the most removed from the dream scenario than you've been this whole time, though with the powerful drag of Matias' emotions and how it triggers yours, it is a difficult bondage to break. For a brief moment, you aware of the bondage.

Ameena felt infuriated by the playfulness of Rotom. It had no sense of time and place! She readied another complaint, but she paused only at the sound of rapid footsteps behind her. She was in the middle of turning when Rotom launched itself from the power line and into the Vaporean with a discharge. Ameena watched the Vaporeon go flying several meters away, caught off-guard by the assault. Rotom had been powered up from the power line, so she could only imagine how badly that strike hurt. "Nicely done," she belatedly complimented as she approached Vaporeon.

It was stupid. [break][break]

She could admit that. But she needed some R&R, damn it. And her Rotom was so energetic. She was tired of it possessing her lab equipment, as it threatened her data, but letting it out often led to it hacking into power lines or into someone's phone. She needed Rotom to get some energy out without disrupting the general public or her own lab. Really, this was two pidove, one stone.[break][break]

"Get out of there!" Her whisper shout displayed how she balanced her anger with her need for quiet. It was dusk, and they had a small window of time to skedaddle before civilians found them. With the hounds of war released, she needed to avoid wandering. It would complicate her Rocket duties and her civilian persona. She looked so suspicious out here. It worked that taking vacations in public suited a CEO, just as hiding from the public for sustained periods did, but her Rocket work was becoming more and more visible, these days...

"Easy," she warned as Magearna continued to zip around the safari. She moved faster than Ameena could have predicted from looking at her. Still, the little bot was too energetic and her ambient beeping would scare off any prey. "Don't be so obvious." The Magearna had little care for stealth, though, and continued to bumble around. Unfortunately, Ameena's soft spot for the bot was too real for her to be stern with her.
