Magearna beeped pleasantly as they came across a Chimecho. The Chimecho's chimes complemented the lower noises of Magearna. The two spoke in some pokemon language she couldn't understand. Or, perhaps, none of them could understand each other and it was all about intent. She couldn't speak to it, but they seemed happy enough. Chimecho was a worthless pokemon in combat, but Ameena wanted Magearna to be satisfied. The Magearna didn't get a lot of personal attention from Ameena these days, so it was a small concession. "We need to hurry along, now." The two continued to chitter chatter as the trio moved forward.

Ameena fought a shiver under the eyes of the unown. She had been here before. It was her first simulation, if she recalled correctly. This had given her fitful sleep, though not as badly as the pale hands of a reaper that had pulled Makoto from the spaceship. [break][break]

She tried not to think about it. [break][break]

"One unown is far better than a cluster," she commented as they moved through the darkness. She waits to see the unown eyes stand out in the shadows, aware of its inevitability. "I look forward to running my captured one through a corrupting process." How would a shadow unown behave? She was curious to see what it could do.

She had requested the opportunity to learn more about the RKS. Thankfully, her recent commitment to contributing data about ultra space had earned her some privileges, because she had an appointment booked for RKS within the week. [break][break]

Inside the simulation, she found herself in a familiar scene. She wasn't a speed demon, but she could enjoy herself in a simulation - at least, until the simulation gave her nightmare fuel. "How do you feel about staying on the highway?" She knew little of the researcher she was paired with, nothing but a name, which she associated with alien life. She'd done little reading on the matter since she quickly realized she would not be finding information on Eternatus from extraterrestrial research. [break][break]

While traveling at breakneck speeds, she projected her voice to be heard better than the prior statement: "How many times have you been through the simulations?"

"I do not have need of it any more," she said quietly, more to herself than for the benefit of the force that took it. She knew the ratio for the concoction, but more importantly, it would need alterations based on the data she was currently reviewing. [break][break]

And then she saw it. It. Unmistakable. Ameena had spent too long in Alola studying Lele for a potential connection to the dream realm to not recognize it. Here? She couldn't - she needed to make the most of it. "Why take it?" [break][break]

Shit, her excitement, her curiosity, it was piquing the interest of her Gardevoir. Ameena could feel more attention on their telepathic link.

But pulling Gardevoir from her data submissions to Porgyon would only delay the quantifying of her project, and she needed to have results if she wanted to survive the coming storm. She feared the reprimand resting on the horizon. [break][break]

Her peripheral suggested something was behind her, based on the glass cabinets. She took a breath, first. This could not be any form of assassination, as no one would be stupid enough to attack her where all of her pokemon were. And they were all powerful psychics, for the most part. Gardevoir, in particular, was her strongest pokemon... [break][break]

So what, then? She forced herself to feel no panic. It would only tug on her telepathic bond with Gardevoir and distract the psychic from data. "What do you want?" She asked softly, aloud. She didn't suspect malicious intentions, given the lack of action thus far.

"Agreed," she said straight-faced as she looked around. Anywhere on Hoenn felt less dangerous than the ultra space areas. She couldn't help the sensation of being watched, in the deep sea or in the plant. Those areas were filled with a foreboding energy, and she didn't think it was just imagined, either. Anomalous behavior at all ultra space sites led her to believe something deeply otherworldly held a hand in their current state, but it was unclear in what way.

Learning about Eternatus had struck her to her core, to begin with. Nothing was more terrifying than it was. She refocused on the task at hand, feeling more confident about this trip comparative to the deep sea. "Should be a piece of cake, right?"

She wondered if it was fated, his connection to the shadow pokemon. She had mixed feelings about the sentiment of fate, particularly because she believed in the dream multiverse where every possible variation in life was its own 'door' in the dream realm that could be accessed with proper equipment. She blanched at the sight of his scar. She would have to be extremely careful about shadow pokemon if one could nail him of all people. More reluctantly, she said, "Well, I have a prime candidate for an attempt at shadowization." [break][break]

Was that term? No matter. She laughed at the 'men' comment and felt relieved that he showed good humor. She wondered, briefly, how much of that side of him was reserved for Tempest. But it wasn't for her to know, and she didn't want to find out if any questions to their relationship resulted in punishment. She hadn't told anyone yet. They were difficult to find, and she had just been lucky enough to stumble across one. She hadn't capitalized on Rocket's resource on them, Nomi, just yet, but it seemed time to remedy that. "I would like to see if we can convert something holy to shadow." Holy was perhaps a stretch, and yet, she felt right in the assessment. [break][break]

The connection between Unown and Arceus might be overstated or outright fabricated, but regardless, there seemed to be no pokemon remotely like them. "If you have time this week, I can bring it over for a test." She would be sorry to see it perish in a failed experiment, but the reward outweighed the risk.
