In a place like this, it worked more often than not. This was how he navigated the system, following Cunningham’s law down to his very name.

"You could say that," he replied, casually clicking through schematics on his screen. "And I believe I can pull it off."

Despite his outward confidence, Mark kept his eyes locked on the screen, avoiding the woman beside him. His mind raced, carefully weighing his next move. He needed to figure out exactly how much he wanted her to know, and more importantly, how much she already knew. One wrong step, and his ability to gather intel could be compromised. Opting for caution, he chose a more subtle approach.

"I know the Seal Stone can create simulated universes," Mark said, finally clarifying his interest. "I’d like to help build one."

On the surface, it might have seemed odd for someone so entrenched in the digital world to be drawn to something like this, but that was exactly the point. Mark was used to creating worlds through code, shaping them line by line. The Seal Stone, however, offered possibilities far beyond anything technology could achieve. That’s what fascinated him.

The subtle way she moved, the casual crossing of her legs; it sent an unexpected chill through him, leaving a hollow feeling in his gut. Her words reached his ears, but concentrating on them became a challenge.

He quickly averted his eyes, returning his attention to the screen, working to absorb the information she had just shared. A faint embarrassment crept in, especially if she had noticed his lapse, but he brushed it off, unwilling to let the moment linger. The porygon-z hovering beside him shuffled slightly, mirroring its trainer’s unease.

"The cloud?" Mark asked, eyes fixed on the screen as he regained his composure.

He wasn’t the best judge of character; with just a few details, he often assumed he could piece together the whole story. Most of the time, he was right. Yet, something in her words hinted at depths beyond his usual methods of deduction, challenging his logic.

"Anything I can dig up on the Seal Stone," he said, his fingers pausing their rhythm on the keyboard. Her question had opened a door, offering him a chance to extract more information that existed beyond the servers.

"Is there anything you can share?" He finally looked away from the screen, eyes settling on her silhouette.

The digital pokemon twists and contorts as it relentlessly chases a small plusle around the room. The plusle squeaks in fear, but porygon-Z doesn’t need to use any moves; the chase itself is enough. Only when the Plusle is cornered against the wall does Mark finally pay attention.

"Looks like you've got it," he says with a smirk, casually tossing an empty poke ball toward the trapped rodent. The porygon-Z shifts slightly, ensuring it doesn’t interfere with the throw. The ball connects, and the Plusle is sucked inside with a flash of light.

Mark returns to his laptop, his focus unbroken. "Hand me that," he orders the nearby grunt, gesturing to a piece of debris a few feet away. The object, resembling a small server rack, catches Mark’s interest as he continues his work.

They hadn’t been formally introduced, and while she knew nothing about him, he had already dug through every piece of unprotected or public data available on her. His mind had raced too far ahead to bother with small talk, but once he recognized the oversight, he shifted his focus to his superior.

"Missingno," he said with a smirk, relaxing as he continued. "I'm sure you've heard of me. A few years back, I pulled off a breach on Silph Co.’s servers. Leaked some pretty important stuff." His grin widened as he recalled exposing some of the company's most private files to the public, including a few personal photos of high-ranking employees.

Even though he knew more than enough about her, he waited patiently for her to respond and introduce herself before turning back to his work on the laptop.

The battlefield was a blur, and even though his porygon-z tried to contribute, its efforts felt like a drop in the ocean compared to the overwhelming force of Kyogre. The plan, whatever it was, seemed to be unfolding, but Mark couldn’t make heads or tails of it through the jumbled mess of frantic communication blaring in his ear. The situation had devolved into pure survival.

Realizing the futility of trying to make sense of the madness, Mark pulled his bag over his shoulder and recalled his porygon-z while also beckoning his metagross to his side. He climbed onto steel-type's back, choosing a calmer approach to the chaos by relying on its magnetic abilities to hover above the churning tides. As they glided over the water, Mark felt the tension ease slightly. He wasn’t out of the woods yet, but at least he was out of the immediate danger.

But Mark wasn’t entirely disconnected from the turmoil. As he navigated the stormy seas, he spotted several grunts and civilians struggling to stay afloat. Despite being more of a lone wolf, Mark couldn’t ignore them. He directed Metagross closer, using its powerful limbs to haul a few of them onto floating debris. He hovered over the treacherous waters, assisting where he could until the tide finally began to recede.

That’s when the order came through. Despite a flicker of hesitation, the thrill of Team Rocket's ambition surges through him. It’s a feeling he can’t deny. If the leader of Team Rocket demanded Kyogre be contained, then Mark would do everything in his power to contribute.

“Hit it hard. Blast it down,” Mark commanded, his voice steely as they reached the summit. His partner pokemon unleashed a devastating Hyper Beam from afar, aiming to strike Kyogre with everything they had while chaos reigned around them.

Waiting for a lull in the frantic communications, Mark seizes the moment to relay his findings to his allies.

“Ever Grande City is still standing strong. Kyogre’s influence hasn’t touched it,” he reports, his voice calm and deliberate, ensuring that key figures like declan walsh or Zev Harcourt catch the intel.

Although he considered himself loyal to Team Rocket, he still found himself going far beyond the bounds established for him. Despite being a grunt, he had spent most of his early days prying and playing with the elaborate data structure that Team Rocket called security. Tonight, it was all about diving into every bit of research on the Seal Stone and what exactly it was capable of.

He took a pause from his work to examine the woman with her flashlight and the hound that accompanied her. Although he didn't know her very well, he recognized her from his previous searches. The head scientist would provide a valuable asset to his overall goal of reverse engineering the RKS and bringing it to life in his own way.

"What can you tell me about the Seal Stone?" He asks ambitiously, offering her a seat without offering a chair. His porygon-z hovers beside him, its limbs twisting with the same curiosity Mark has for his visitor.

No, his Metagross glides just above the surging sea, a steel sentinel cutting through the chaos of the ever-rising tide. As they near the beach, Mark leaps from Metagross’s back, landing with a practiced roll before sprinting for cover along the cliffside. Once safely behind the rocks, he drops to the ground, swinging his bag off his shoulder in one fluid motion. His Porygon-Z and Metagross hover silently behind him, cautious to the events beyond the cliffside.

Driven by haste, Mark pulls his laptop and a couple of battery packs from his bag. The sting of his earlier wound, courtesy of giada morgan, flares up as he brushes his gloved hand across it. Ignoring the pain, he powers on his laptop. Instantly, Satellite Cozmo’s live feed lights up his screen, offering him a high-altitude view of the battlefield. From his vantage point, Mark watches as avatars and their gods clash, but his focus locks onto Kyogre and its merciless assault on Sootopolis.
