it's hard for lisette to imagine what petalburg city looked like before. the road to one of the pokemarts in town is littered with debris, barely walkable. as she gathers the refuse, as her pokemon help move large broken pieces of metal and wood, she looks up at the sky and sees the mountainous ridges framing the sky — wondering how the broken city appears from above. [break][break]

"i'm just about finished on this side," she calls out to temp. "apologies for taking so long, mr. temp. i'll have my team pick up the slack at once." it feels nice to be a part of something; it gives purpose to lisette's life. even if she hadn't been in petalburg on the day that team rocket reclaimed it, she feels like she can imagine the insanity that went on in this place. scorched earth and broken buildings tell the story for her. [break][break]

she simply wants to help team rocket in every aspect possible. what else is life for, if not to support one's own loyalties? [break][break]

"i see." she watches with amazement as the female pyroar lowers herself to the ground, making it easier for lisette to mount it. she climbs onto the saddle and holds onto the reins — more excited than nervous. [break][break]

"my grandmother loved grass-type pokemon. she had a meganium, tropius, and gogoat. she let me ride them on occasion, especially when we were traveling long distances together." though they never strayed too far from their home. lisette smiles fondly at the memory. "i wouldn't say we were professionals by any means." not the way that the master of faster was, anyway. [break][break]

which brings lisette to her next point. "oh, i nearly forgot to introduce myself. my name is lisette bellamy." and her sinistea breaks free from its pokeball, if only to bother a nearby exeggutor. i almost forgot that i needed a good grass type for gardening, lisette thinks to herself. she catches the injured tree pokemon with ease after her playful sinistea is done throwing shadow balls at it. "um, so, please treat me as a newbie, really. i don't think i ever rode 'fast' before."

lisette bellamy sounds like any member from the j-pop group perfume... either this song by them or this one. she has a grim attitude and a proper way of speaking, so having a cute-sounding voice is a nice juxtaposition, i think.

best not to chance it. lisette can understand that much. before team rocket, her experience with pokemon was limited to whatever stumbled in the woods near her home as a child. nevermind the fact that she'd never seen a spoink in the flesh until this very moment, but now that she was among the pearls and the swine, she finds herself enjoying this experience. [break][break]

in a way, they are also protecting the spoinks from their own selves, and each pearl lost is replaced with a substitute. lisette watches as madeline's pokemon move with a machine-like precision — it's the kind of easy confidence that lisette wants her team to emulate one day, too. [break][break]

as she brushes the dust off of her knees, lisette responds to madeline's words of encouragement. "oh, thank you very much." there is the faintest gleam of a smile on lisette's face, coupled with a slight blush that comes with being unused to praise. it heartens her to know that her efforts are amounting to something. [break][break]

then, for a moment, lisette watches the strange xurkitree's movements — almost transfixed by the ultra beast's strange appearance — before the other woman's voice fills the air once again. "after my grandmother's passing, i felt lost." it was an objective statement of truth, nothing more, nothing less. "i had nowhere else to go and nothing else to do. team rocket gave me a direction, i suppose." she's still trying to find her place in the group, after all this time, but she owes it to the ones who took her in to give back to them in any way possible. [break][break]

she would rather have a life full of purpose and meaning than exist emptily before death, after all. "what about you, if i may ask?"

"good." lisette remembers everything her grandmother had told her, and one of those lessons rings true even now: do not be too attached to material possesions, as you cannot take anything with you in death. what good is having any money without also having a reason to spend it? [break][break]

balance is an important aspect in life, as well. there will always be harrowing battles and important missions to be had — there will not always be a chance to take breaks or eat delicious foods, however. "that looks good," lisette says as she points with chopsticks to the sweet purple confection that clover is trying out. "and i agree. i prefer jobs where we don't have to sweat as much." [break][break]

she pokes a slippery noodle with her own chopsticks, then offers it to her companion. "you're not allergic to shellfish, are you? this one has shrimp in it." [break][break]

"oh. then that would be very bad, indeed." poisoned water would kill just about anyone. lisette thinks that dying a poisoned death would be very painful, and not at all fun. she frowns somewhat. [break][break]

and his poignant answer to her unsaid question is equally worrisome. but she lets her concerns rest there. it is not her place to question even the smallest of things. if he says he is alright, she will believe it. [break][break]

though between rebuilding sootopolis and other laborious tasks, she is sure that the higher-ups of team rocket have their hands full — even moreso than the grunts. each of those rocket beasts and underbosses are like champions in their own right; lisette can hardly imagine what it would be like for any one of them to fall. [break][break]

so if she can remain by cillian's side, for even a moment, then she'd be happy in knowing that she got as close to the legends as she ever will. "very well. you need only say the word." in the distance past the surf there are more pokemon and more people. league or rocket? it makes all the difference in the world. "hmm. is that worth investigating, do you think?" [break][break]

the clinic is alive in its own way. between waiting to be called into a room and the banter between the presiding pokemon, lisette wonders if this isn't as much of a home as it is a place of business and convalescence. she wonders what it would be like to have pokemon who are so lively with one another, as the chatot and heliosk are with each other. [break][break]

eventually, she is brought before the doctor herself, and holds a breath as the espathra is appraised. the pokemon doesn't fuss under such scrutiny, and even happily eats the poffin offered before it. so bright and lively. are all pokemon this... tiring to be around? [break][break]

"what?" lisette blinks widely. "oh, um..." she thinks back to the ariados incident. "well. there were a lot of spider pokemon in the way. i think the espathra had been in their clutches." maybe the arachnid poison had gotten to the bird's head, after all. "it won't leave me alone. maybe it's delirious? i'm not sure." [break][break]

on second thought, maybe lisette should have brought the espathra to a pokemon whisperer. or maybe she has already brought her to one, so it seems. [break][break]

a haunting noise pierces the air, and lisette stops in her tracks. before her, she sees the manic grin on the dusknoir's midriff before she sees the dusknoir itself. beautiful and large. ghostly in nature. [break][break]

"perfect." she summons all of her pokemon to take on the dusknoir at once. it is a fraught battle, but it ends with a successful capture in the pokeball several moments later. "let's return at once." [break][break]

whether these sightings have something to do with the current state of events in hoenn is another matter, entirely. lisette isn't one to question the wheels of fate or how they turn, she simply follows the winds of change wherever they may go. but in case that those ethereal spirits come to harm them, she has her pokemon at the ready. "i agree. i want to eat a whole bunch of them. they look like... milceries. or slurpuffs." those doughy delicacies are hard to ignore. there are two open barstools at the counter — lisette motions for clover to follow her as she grabs a seat. [break][break]

when was the last time she treated a fellow rocket member to anything, let alone something scrumptious like this? "i'll pay," lisette offers. "should we just get one of everything?" she will trust clover's judgement once more, as she is not too picky when it comes to food. [break][break]
