[break][break] in a way, they are also protecting the spoinks from their own selves, and each pearl lost is replaced with a substitute. lisette watches as madeline's pokemon move with a machine-like precision — it's the kind of easy confidence that lisette wants her team to emulate one day, too. [break][break] as she brushes the dust off of her knees, lisette responds to madeline's words of encouragement. "oh, thank you very much." there is the faintest gleam of a smile on lisette's face, coupled with a slight blush that comes with being unused to praise. it heartens her to know that her efforts are amounting to something. [break][break] then, for a moment, lisette watches the strange xurkitree's movements — almost transfixed by the ultra beast's strange appearance — before the other woman's voice fills the air once again. "after my grandmother's passing, i felt lost." it was an objective statement of truth, nothing more, nothing less. "i had nowhere else to go and nothing else to do. team rocket gave me a direction, i suppose." she's still trying to find her place in the group, after all this time, but she owes it to the ones who took her in to give back to them in any way possible.
