gym leaders. lisette views them as any other member of team rocket would: a nuisance. but she isn't on the job right now, and more important than her contempt for the pokemon league is the need to satisfy her own curiosities. she doesn't even notice the wild pokemon nearby; she pays them no mind. lisette maintains a calm exterior, and brightens at the new knowledge gained. "master of faster. what a name." she doesn't doubt that the pyroar before her are the cream of the crop. the powerful purrs coming from the pyroar surprise her, and she can't help but giggle at the tickling sensation against her hand. "mister master of faster... could i try riding the pyroar, too? it looks like it would be fun." [break][break]

lisette hums absentmindedly as she reaches out for a set of windchimes hanging on a vendor's stall. "it wouldn't hurt, but it also wouldn't be efficient." not that the dozen stolen pokeballs in her bag had anywhere else to go, either. she shrugs. "eh, we might as well. let's look around." she stops playing with the windchimes and follows the scent of delicious food. she recognizes the herbs used in the cooking, but not the dishes themselves. she stops in front of a food stall and points emphatically at it, staring at clover with longing eyes. "want to try this?" [break][break]

among the pride of lions is a pokemon that isn't very much like a lion at all. it watches her curiously, and lisette feels as though she is being appraised by it, somehow. her attention drifts the moment the smaller pyroar comes into view. she notices the reins and saddles — her curiosity sparks into flames. [break][break]

"champion devlin, or mister josh, i've never seen a big pokemon like this in the flesh. how intriguing." she allows zira to act as she pleases, a tiny smile crossing her own face, meanwhile. "she is cute. you ride these pokemon? is it fast? is it fun?" [break][break]

she was just a little girl the last time she showed such excitement. she can't help but wonder, will he let me ride the pyroar, too? [break][break]

the fossil dragon thunders along aimlessly in her path. lisette pauses, then finds a broken half-wall to hide behind until the brute leaves her vision. [break][break]

maybe it would be a strong pokemon for team rocket, but it is too late. before she can change her mind, the tyrantrum charges down a different direction, and the moment has passed. [break][break]

she pops her head back up over the wall, and smooths the wrinkles in her dress. oh well. [break][break]

"grumpigs aren't that strong, are they?" lisette wonders aloud while her sinistea hurls a shadow ball at a fleeing spoink. while the teacup can hold its own against the baby pigs, it is unsure if it can measure against the parent swine. [break][break]

the spoink falls forward on its spring, a quiet yelp escaping its mouth as dirt flies into its face. lisette orders her pokemon to fire another shadow ball at the spoink, and the force of the spectral energy is enough to dislodge the pearl from its forehead. she runs over to collect the scintillating pearl. [break][break]

it's as brilliant as any gem found in a drampa's hoard. lisette prefers something with a bit more color to it, like a ruby, but the pink pearl isn't bad, either. "i got another one just now. i hope i'm not slowing you down, miss madd." [break][break]

sky pillar. what a dreary, but wonderful, place. lisette can hear the cries of the dead here — she wonders if she will join their ranks soon. how lucky for some pokemon to persist after death. if only humans could share the same fate. [break][break]

to say that lisette handles spontaneity well would be a lie. her occupation forces her to roll with the punches, but when given a chance, she is someone that stands still in the face of change. less of a ducklett letting water run down its back, and more like a pyukumuku who has resigned itself to being moved by the world, rather than moving through it, itself. [break][break]

which is all to say, she has no idea what to do about the espathra that had gotten in her path just earlier. quid pro quo: lisette's gothitelle had done away with a swarm of ariados, allowing lisette to capture the wild spiders in the name of team rocket — not realizing that in doing so, she had saved the life of an espathra that the ariados were toying with. [break][break]

now this fantastic bird won't leave her alone. clearly, this is the work of a malady or sickness. why should a wild pokemon be so enamored by a stranger, otherwise? they don't even know each other; lisette will never understand such sudden kindness. [break][break]

"hello," miss bellamy says in reply. "this espathra is sick." she waves vaguely in its direction. the ostrich trills happily at being acknowledged by her. "do you know how to fix it?" [break][break]

she hears a humming further in the distance. lisette follows the noise, believing it to be the sound of pokemon, with the added hope that it is a pokemon she wants to catch for her party. her steps are light and easy. [break][break]

she stops short of a tall man and his lion pride. beautiful pyroars, much larger than any normal pyroar that lisette has seen before. her eyes widen slightly; her heartbeat quickens in pace. "excuse me," she says. "are these your pyroar? i didn't know they could grow to be this size." [break][break]

water rises up to lisette's ankles. she is grateful for her rain boots. a quiet huff leaves her — she doesn't mind the rain, or the incessant floods, but she just isn't convinced that there is anything worth spying on all the way out here. [break][break]

but far be it from her to defy orders. "toxapex displaced... is there really such a thing." the brutal stars are levitated back into the ocean waves by lisette's gothitelle, out of boredom more than goodwill. lisette looks at her senior and says, "mister cillian. if there is anything you need me to do, i will do it." [break][break]

which is a very kind, yet very roundabout, way of saying, you look like you could use a break. not that she would dare imply he was anything less than his best, no. but death is quieter than most people believe; death is a shadow cast from the setting sun, as easy and natural as falling into twilight. [break][break]

he is a monument, and she, the meager ground below. she'd rather stand in his shadow than in the sun, after all. [break][break]
