this is the thought that's inspired this line of events. marcel stands before the club's entrance alongside mclaren (the company he'd invited) and dominic (the unrelenting nuisance). a look is exchanged with the bouncer before they're allowed in.

it's a simple test--by his standards, not mclaren's--but he hopes by some small miracle it will unlock whatever hidden potential there may be in the older rocket. marcel leans against the bar, though he shows no intention of buying a drink. his head tilts in mclaren's direction to be better heard over the music.

[attr="class","marcelThread"]marcel glances at the new recruit with some interest. she hasn't done anything but stay under the radar as of yet, but he takes the time to make note of her face should that change. remiel has his own plans, ones marcel has no want to interfere with.

so instead he releases his pokemon, mimicking kyle's strategy. taking on the torchic's vigour, the meowstic kicks off with a burst of speed uncharacteristic of its species. marcel follows its lead and does his best to keep up with the rest of the group.

his curiosity is entirely morbid, but he resists the urge to crouch down closer. at least part of his self-preservation remains intact. whatever this is, it's nothing he's ever seen before. marcel's thoughts cascade from there. he thinks back to monsters weaponised, horrors such as these. the thought of this creature on either side of the battle is an unpleasant one.

he releases his espeon to raise the corpse with PSYCHIC, mindful of the flowers. it does not stir; his decision is made. he knows how talented their scientists are. marcel looks away under the pretence of checking for company as vega releases a tamed FLAMETHROWER. the memory of littleroot plays in his mind.
