Unfortunately for her temporary company, that 'elsewhere' ends up being her and her pokémon. There wasn't much else to look at, besides the ice.

Erin had been happy to turn a blind eye before, but the fact she's much more alert and enthusiastic about any of the golduck's actions than literally anything else going on couldn't be passed up so easily. She wonders if the girl's asocial.

Meanwhile, Erin's chandelure moves ahead. Not all wild pokémon are aggressive, but one could never be too sure.

The chandelure steps between the marshtomp and glalie, pokes at the latter with one of its lit up torches, and quickly flees. It turns out to be a super-effective

that the glalie directs at the spot where only the marshtomp stands now.

When she finally gets a hold of his phone, Erin gives as little away in her expression as Silas does. While the flash drive installs the program, she busies herself with another task. As a child of today's booming technological era, she has no trouble finding the man's contacts list and adding herself to it.

It takes so little time the only way he'd notice what she's up to would be if he actually looked down at the screen. Not impossible, not by far, but the angle at which she holds the device would require Silas to adjust if he really wanted to watch her.

She's secretly glad that she'd left her phone muted. When she sends herself a text from Silas's phone, it makes no sound.

Quick fingers close everything and then tilt the screen in the man's direction, pointing to the newly installed application. She turns to her Porygon2 again. "Give us a hand, Siri."

The virtual pokémon sends out another

signal beam

to exemplify the exact steps that would normally need to be taken. The Porygon2's anatomy would allow it to directly convert the data received into a language usable by Erin's program. Without such a pokémon, however, one more tool would be needed.

The device is small, smaller than the flash drive and shaped like a phone plug. It's also shaped like a gengar keychain. She attaches it to the the phone. "You can keep this too. It's a portable sonar receiver."

Erin doesn't request to be paired with the same person with whom she executed the jewelry store heist for some dumb sense of sentimentality or feeling of righteousness. Erin is far more pragmatic: he followed instructions and was efficient enough to keep up with her.

Funny how she never noticed this laboratory building in the upper part of Slateport, still standing and fully functional, on her first visit to the city. The building's highest floors are almost entirely intact, but they're ushered inside and down many sets of stairs to a particular part of the lab where an allegedly confidential experiment is already underway.

She doesn't turn; the sound of footsteps beside her are all the confirmation she needs that he's there. "Priam, right?"

They never shared their names during their first mission together, but it had come up briefly in the meeting where she specifically asked for him. Whether the same higher-ups would have shared her own name with him, she wouldn't know. Honestly, it wouldn't bother her either at this point.

A chilly breeze quickly approaches, so odd inside a cave of all places that it's evidently a move from the vulpix. The

is met with a set of melting flames— a

For a fire type pokémon, it's hard to beat someone else unharmed. Whiskey would have to adapt. Rather than burn the vulpix, he aims a

confuse ray

at it.

The vulpix fires off an

but it misses. It's too confused to aim true. Erin's chandelure has a

to momentarily blind it, and Erin tosses a pokéball.

Erin isn't totally sure what she'd expected to receive from him. She supposes this lack of a reaction may have been included somewhere within her expectations, because she honestly can't say she's bothered by it. She smiles.

His is a fair reaction. Wise, if you ask her. They barely know each other and she's given him no reason to trust her or her abilities, until now.

Silas points towards the source of one of her Porygon2's most peculiar readings, and Erin can't tell if he expects her to be the notary to her own work. A moment passes.

Her gengar takes this as cue to step in. Until now, he'd been hanging out farther back, a couple meters behind his trainer and the company she's keeping. He hands the parasol to Erin, who proceeds to rest it against her shoulder. Then, he disappears inside the rubble.

She's not happy about it, but there's little she can do at this point. All that's left for her to do is make sure he got a long shower afterwards.

When the gengar reemerges with the box-shaped trinket, Erin decides that'd be two showers and a bath.

"What are you bringing us, Mars?" she asks, holding her free arm up to his approaching figure. However, rather than hold it in her hand, she dusts off a bit of dirt on the gengar's cheek. Turning to Silas, she adds, "What do you think?"

The man's decision to call his marshtomp out is appreciated, albeit silently. Erin watches it extinguish a good portion of the flickering purple flames. Just in time for the next wave of ghosts, too.

Gastlies and haunters pass through the flames without difficulty, if with some inhibitions. They'll feel the burn, even if their ability to levitate would allow them to find a path in just by levitating higher.

It's a random question asked for a random reason that almost feels out of place, with them no longer being at the beach but inside the city ruins. Ironic to be asking about swimming in a sea of asphalt and rubble that does not look swimmable at all, when she's still dressed in little more than her swimsuit.
