things always looked their bleakest when the sky turned dark didn't it? at least that seemed to be a thing that was happening around hoenn recently. still that didn't mean that the darkness had its beauty but you'd be hard pressed to have it explained by kazimir. he didn't really take any stock in thinking like that, instead he looked to cut through the darkness with his little joltik jumping around in front of him being a little flashlight while discharging some electricity from its tiny body.

all he wanted was to get some sootopolis sea salt crackers.

so when the darkness started to encroach and surround the city he knew his snack time would have be put on hold as he and his joltik came racing down the streets to where the once beautiful tree of life once stood. there he could already see people gathered around it as they watched a strange figure approach, a figure that kaz was familiar with and hadn't seen in a very long time.

"ah...yeah...he did." the memory was clear as day as kaz recalled seeing his own head separated from his body as it fell over in a pool of...blood? it was such a surreal thing sometimes he wonder if he was just having some kind of nightmare in the middle of that mess. he clearly didn't but every time he thought back to it it was not something that could be seen as "normal". after all he watched himself get essetianlly murdered right before his eyes, it was kind of harrowing.

"yeah your probably right. but they did have their own skyler dross who was their queen so i doubt they'd be in total chaos. heck she might be the more dangerous of the pair, she had kyogre under her control" if they brought that version of kyogre with them if they ever invade he wondered if their good captain dross could use her own to try and fight back. it would be one heck of a storm on the ocean if it did. although speaking of people in charge it did raise a question in his head as he turned towards the ginger giant with a curious look.

"hey what about your double? do you think he'd be able to rally them all. if i had to pick a list of people who could get people to follow them i think you'd be on there at least."

the chilly winds slowly wore down the group who looked at each other and nodded in unison to say one thing, that they all knew that staying in the cold was going to get them killed. so they decided to move forward...if not for the shadow that came from out of nowhere behind them and tried to strike at the joltik surprising them all, kazimir in particular. "wha-?! protect the vip! shields up!"

the chestnaught practically jumped onto the joltik as he threw up a spiky shield whose spikes elongated to strike back at the decideyue who tried to strike them from the middle of the group. still the icy winds blocked their vision meaning kazimir and his sirfetch'd lost track of the pokemon and their teammates which only left them with one choice, stick together as there was a clear divide between the whole group with the chestnaught and joltik being on their own while kazimir and the sir fetch'd were paired up together. "keep moving! if we can get out of here then we're home free!" he didn't quite believe escape would be so easy but his words were enough to get both duos moving in the same direction towards the trees to try and get out of this mess.

bounce. bounce. bounce. the bouncing of the azurill was something that was somewhat hypnotizing or at the very least it was to kazimir who couldn't help but watch it just bounce in the puddles around them. taking out a pokeball kazimir looked between it and the azurill and wondered if he should even catch it, sure it was cute but...that was kind of really all it had going for it. the blonde shrugged his shoulders as he figured he's captured things for less and threw out some bait that caught the attention of the azurill keeping its attention off of kazimir long enough for him to chuck the ball at the little blue bouncing orb.

"it would be way on brand for something that's bugging two different worlds is coming from somewhere else entirely. this whole region is a magnet for weird stuff someone should just make a group or something to catalogue all of it. hey maybe that can be a job for ya when your feeling better Xanthos." Kaz jokes about it but the thought of it still resides in the back of his head as something they could do for their friend when he's feeling better. It might not be history related but well there was probably something he could find enjoyable; looking into weird stuff around Hoenn and learning what it affected sort of counted as history did it not?

All the talk about evolution did give Kaz an idea of how to convey what they were talking about to the Megalopolian even if it wasn't a one for one recreation of what they were talking about, it was still worth a shot. "alright well if those little purple guys can evolve i'm sure other creatures over there can too. but like...what zac said normally pokemon on our side and those purple things seem to evolve by battling mainly and gaining experience, sometimes it takes a strong bond with the trainer, other times...."

kaz reached out and released his urshifu and took out his glove with a megastone embedded into it and showed it off to xanthos, "sometimes it takes a little special something to do it." With that he posed and a light engulfed the urshifu as it mega evolved into a more angry looking form of itself as it stomped the ground and raised its fists up to shadowbox in front of everyone. "mega evolution, some pokemon can do it and i doubt its like what we're looking for but...it is something special ain't it?"

KING OF FIGHTERS CHALLENGE

LET'S BEGIN!

the first of the two came forward, a dracovish that came with everything it had, despite that the urshifu managed to detect the movements of the large fossil fish and sidestepped around its rush attack. as it did it countered with its aerial ace as it looked to chop at the back of the dracovish. of course it was still handicapped by the fact that it wasn't fighting alone and the machamp came in with a dymanic punch that managed to catch the urshifu off guard just a second too late and the large pokemon took it right to the face and stumbled back a few steps as it held its head up. from its point of view it seemed like it was seeing double and not understanding what was happening in its confused state and could only bring up its fists in a weak defensive stance.

the scene was enough to get kazimir up on his feet in excitement, "oh man, looks like the challengers are off to a good start! but will it be enough of a lead to make things easier? or will things get tougher from here on out?!"

a flock of fletchlings flew overhead and caught kazimir's attention as he made his way into the deeper parts of the zone. watching them fly away he wondered about catching one for himself but the thought soon passed as he remembered the other birds he had waiting for him at home. they were probably really wanting him to bring them some kind of treats or something as he hadn't realy splurged on treating his pokemon to something nice, guess it was time to do that as soon as he was finished here. mentally thanking the birds he turned and headed on his way.

as the large rabbit tries to take a berry from one of the few trees still producing a harvest its stopped by the growling of an incineroar who dropped from the tree, angry that someone was trying to disrupt its little cat nap. the two pokemon stared each other down before charging ahead into one another with the incineroar gaining the upper hand as it used a flare blitz to shove off the lopunny onto her back with serious burns. as it struggled to get back onto its feet a ball suddenly flew from the tree branches above and struck the lopunny to suck it into the ball as a blonde trainer poked his head out from the branches. "really? another one? we gotta build a fence around this place or something."[break][break]

A tingling sensation shot through Pokkenger's leg as instead of knocking down Dark Sun he felt something more solid and wasn't human flesh and bone. That's when the masked villain reminded him that he had stolen Balder's powers as proof as his Urshifu also found that while its attack did connect the masked villain didn't even flinch at it. "So you think you got an iron bod do you? Then we'll just have to hammer it down till its nothing but dents and holes, right Domon? HAMMERHEAD!" With his words shouted out Pokkenger rolled out of the way as his Urshifu did a short hop to aim an iron head powered headbutt right onto Dark Sun's forehead. Steel body or not taking one of those would be a feat the masked hero didn't see often.

His Shaymin wasn't fairing much better as the Typhlosion managed to burn down its magical assault on it and its partner and the little hedgehog backed away anxiously as it tried to think of a plan of action. That's when Pokkenger rolled to its side and towered over it like a Growlithe protecting its young, "these guys ain't so tough, how about showing them some love eh Grace?" The suggestion wasn't lost on the shaymin as it regained an ounce of confidence and turned towards the two pokemon and with a deep breath gave out a sweet kiss in the form of a big pink heart shot out of its flowers right at the Alakazam to try and confuse it.

bees. why did it have to be bees? and why did they have to hoard all the honey to themselves the selfish bastards. it made kazimir furious as he watched them buzz about, it made his battling fingers twitch. "ah to heck with it. its worth a few stings." he mumbled to himself as he threw out a few pokeballs to let out his pokemon to cause a distraction as he ran forward towards a tree slathered in honey to get a taste for himself. however a swarm of the wretched creatures got in his way and all he had was a single ball, so readying his arm he tossed it, do or die time, anything for that sweet delicious golden nectar.

it seemed like dark sun not only was stealing balder's powers and name but also the tactics of pokkenger as their attacks were met and while the alakazam got a fist full of the urshifu's power the karate bear got a fist full of this stranger's power. the legendary master fumbled backwards while managing to stand on his own two feet and wiped the area off where it was struck and could feel its fur signed as it wiped at it with the back of its hand. it shot daggers at this "dark sun" and let out a low growl as it rush at the armored "villain" to deliver a drain punch to his solar plexus.

pokkenger wasn't going to just let this new mysterious villain get away either as he joined in the attack with his urshifu side stepping to behind "Dark Sun" and aiming a kick right to his knee's backside to try and drop him and stop him from moving. The lone shaymin however wasn't so enthusiastic about the sudden fighting it found itself in but it wasn't going to let itself go down without leaving a few nicks and scrapes of its own. While its two teammates dealt with the strange trainer it looked towards the strange two pokemon brought along and shook its body violently to release a slew of magical leaves to strike at the strange looking Typhlosion and Alakazam.
