As the duo got close to the Lighthouse, the man noticed the door burst open, allowing an Eldritch monstrosity to slip out with an hostage in its tentacles. In the code of the monster, Balder was able to identify Dahlia. His eyes then went to the victim held by the tentacle and noticed Olivia. Sadly, he couldn't help but think that she deserved to get caught in that trap, and didn't hesitate to say it. "I TOLD YOU THAT WAS A FUCKING TRAP OLIVIA!"[break][break]

As the monstrosity moved, Balder raised his head and noticed the bomb growing smaller as a reaction to the clown receiving attacks. Could this mean that, if they actually defeat the clown, the bomb would vanish? It was worth a try. Balder disembarked from the lion and grabbed a pokeball from its belt, summoning Blaze the Charizard onto the field. [break][break]

"Let's do this Blaze! SHO SHINKA!" The Dragon roared as his body emitted a bright light before getting enclosed in a spherical aura. Seconds later, the sphere shattered, revealing a bigger charizard with wings of fire and new pattern upon his body. The empowered dragon roared at the sky before letting out some smoke from its nostrils.[break][break]

"Leo, Zen Headbutt on the clown! Blaze, Maximize your Wildfire, but don't hit Olivia!" The lion nodded and charged forward, ready to deliver the psychich-powered headbutt upon the clown. As for the Charizard, the creature let out the strongest of its flames, controlling it so that it struck the main body of the monstrosity that had Dahlia at its core and trying to avoid Olivia as much as possible.

"Well now, someone's quite energetic for her first challenge ever! Buf since it's your grand debut, it's normal that no one knows who you are though! Nonetheless, we'll skip the introductions for now. Balder, our Gym Leader, awaits eagerly at the top of the tower for you to join him. Will you be able to defy the odds and climb up to meet him?"[break][break]

As the announcer slowly introduced the gym leader, a totem emerged from the ground, in front of the tower. The most noticeable trait visible upon the totem was a gigantic horn protruding at the front-top of the object, atop hardened features of a creature: a Rhinoceros. Seconds after the reveal of the totem, the ground began to shake, as if something heavy was rapidly approaching.[break][break]

At the other side of the courtyard, another gate opened up violently, allowing a rampaging Rhyperior to emerge. The beast looked around, wondering what had called him upon this field. "THERE HE IS! OUR CHALLENGER'S FIRST OBSTACLE: HORN THE RHYPERIOR! Don't understimate him just because he seems slow and heavy, for that monsters packs one hell of a punch! Now, how will Annie handle this obstacle?!" As if to reply to the announcer, the Rhyperior roared to summon an ally and then proceeded to menacingly advance towards Annie Mei.

The duo was still holding on, even after the smog and the trashing. Maybe they had been poisoned, but Balder could hardly tell. What was certain is that they were still on the defensive, waiting for the giant bear to fall most likely. Kyle was a good tactician, that much was for certain. He wasn't an elite four for nothing after all.[break][break]

But the Shaman king wouldn't go down so easily. Nor his pokemons. While the Ursaring slowly fell forward, head spinning as a sign of confusion, Balder whistled. The bear, putting his leg down before him to hold back up, started to stand back. Once last push. That's what this would be about. It's a bold and risky move, but it was worth trying.[break][break]

"Shell, set up. Gotta be careful now." The dragonic turtle turned its shell towards the Arcanine and Leafeon. The sun created by the grass dog reflected on the shell as it began to set up the move Shell trap. Depending on the actions of the dog duo, maybe this tactic would prove effective?[break][break]

"Teddy... Let's finish it with a bang. GIGA IMPACT!" Summoning the last of his strength, the Ursaring lunged forward and jumped in the air, aiming to land the biggest impact possible with his remaining energy upon the Arcanine. Wether he was still conscious to see the conclusion didn't matter, so long as he was able to land the blow.

Sadly, the portal didn't work as intended. As the beast seemed to plot something, Solgaleo reacted accordingly, as if he felt a disturbance in the force. The duo of light emerged amidst the debris of the Night Market. Balder disembarked from his lion, observing the surroundings. Thanks to his connection with the legendary pokemon, he knew something was wrong, but couldn't tell what exactly.[break][break]

His eyes glanced around the field, until he noticed the glowing orb that people kept smashing around, the explosive potato, land in the arms of a Gardevoir. The orb was blinking, sign of an upcoming detonation. As the pokemon made one last look towards her trainer, Balder started to run towards the duo, hoping he could reach them in time and potentially stop another death from happening...[break][break]

Yet it was too late. The orb detonated, destroying the existence that was Gardevoir, and sending the lady that served as her trainer flying towards Balder's direction. The man, in his glorious Super Saiyan form, decided to at least prevent any harm to the trainer after such a sacrifice. Jumping into the air, he proceeded to close his arms on Nicole to catch her and landed back on his feet a bit further due to the propulsion. Holding the lady in his arms, he hurried back towards the legendary lion that was still observing the beast's actions.[break][break]

"Hey, young lady, are you alright? Any injuries?" asked the man as he kept running and holding her close to him. Reaching the legendary lion, he saw the clown bastard start laying mines everywhere on the field and in the sky to prevent any advance and to cause more destruction... This thing was clearly toying with them, especially when it took an empty pokeball and made it explode on a mine to prove his point. Balder pulled a pokeball of his own and recalled his Alolan Raichu who, luckily, was close-by.[break][break]

"Leo, we got no choice but to keep moving and intercept that ball. Are you willing to take the risk?" The solgaleo hesitated. Knowing what had happened to his trainer in that nightmare... He didn't want to see it happen in real life. But it was a fact that staying put would be a bad idea. The lion finally nodded and lowered himself to be able to have Balder embark upon him. The man gently dropped Nicole on the ground and held her shoulders gently.[break][break]

"Don't do anything crazy now. What happened to you is something rough, something incredibly sad. But you need to move forward, for her. If you want to follow, you can ride with me on Solgaleo. But if you wish to stay behind and fight that monster, or do something else, be extremely careful, alright? If something happens, scream my name: Balder. I'll try to assist you." With a somewhat apologetic and understanding smile, Balder patted the lady's head gently before getting on Solgaleo's back. If she were to follow, they would wait for her to get on. Then, the solar lion proceeded to move forward, trying to be careful not to touch any mines.[break]

God, why was she so stubborn? Even now, she believed she was in the right. Yet everything she was saying was for her own agenda... And the elite four deciding not to listen to her proved his point. She shouldn't be acting this way. It was a total disappointment from Balder's viewpoint, and he was feeling betrayed from everything she was saying. How could he have believed in a woman like her...[break][break]

And thus, she finally explained the true reasons for having them blitz the Lighthouse: Dahlia Goode. The commissioner on the run. The call Olivia had made hadn't connect to the Crown, which also meant no reinforcement, but to Dahlia. But... That sounded fishy. Did the head of the council really have the technology to hijack calls like that? If anything, it was suspicious.[break][break]

But no matter what he would say, she'd be stubborn enough to go there and do it. And most likely risk everything. Eyes filled with a mix of sadness, anger and disdain, Balder stared at Olivia. "I highly doubt she is what the people need right now. Honestly, you disappoint me Olivia... And we're gonna have a talk after this is all over. But now that you gave me that info... I can't friggin turn my back on her. And I'm not going alone. LEO!"[break][break]

The solar lion seemed to have a smile draw upon its maw before it roared towards the sky, emitting light from its mane like a beacon. Balder joined him in the roar, unleashing his avatar powers at the same time. Doing so, his hair became a golden color as they were emitting light, and his fists radiated with a white energy. The man climbed onto the lion's back and he looked at Olivia. "You stay here, and help protect the civilians. It's the least you can do after those orders you shouted."[break][break]

Taking a deep breath, Balder shouted to everyone that could hear him. "THOSE THAT ARE NOT FIGHTING THE BEAST, FOLLOW THE LIGHT! WE NEED TO STOP THE BOMB AT THE LIGHTHOUSE!" Suddenly, the Lion roared once more and a fissure in the air appeared before them, tearing up to open a portal directly to the front of the lighthouse. Eyes wide open, Balder looked at the balder, then at the legendary he sat upon.[break][break]

"Always full of surprise, aren't you partner? Well then! ONWARDS!" The duo enter the portal, hopefully emerging on the other end intact and to be in front of the Lighthouse. The portal remained open, potentially allowing others to follow through.

As the explosion subsided, Balder patted Solgaleo's mane, making the Wide Guard vanish. The protection had been a success. No one that stood behind them got harmed by the blast and the flying debris. Thomas' pokemon and the other Swampert also offered a good protection, and the others that were too far were able to protect themselves. As the protection faded, a familiar voice rose up behind him. The Alolan Gym Leader turned around to notice a challenger he had at his gym: Annie Mei. She was asking what they should do and what was that thing. Beside her was Fernando and an unknown beautiful lady.[break][break]

"What we need to do is the same as usual: Prioritize people's safety and make sure there's no mor destruction. As for the identity of that thing... Hard to say. It's the first time I saw such a creature. But one thing is certain: It's not from this world. So Annie, it's time to put in practice the skills I helped you build up during your gym challenge. Do your best, stay safe and try to help us calm things down!"[break][break]

No dead people, only wounded individuals. There was at least some good news in this tragedy. Deciding to assist a few of the civilians out there, Balder decided to call forth a new companion: Chosuke, his Alolan Raichu. Emerging from the pokeball in a multiple of sparks and flashes, the surfing mouse smiled as he saw his trainer. But then, he saw the chaos around him, and the smile vanished.[break][break]

"I know Chosuke, I promised you some night surfing and festivities, but we got a situation on our hands. Can you assist anyone that's trying to escape? Show them the way to the exit of Slateport, and assist anyone that's unable to move with your psychic powers." The creature nodded before beginning to surf in the air, trying to find any civilians that were lost or needed help. As Balder was about to get on top of Leo and rush towards the invader, the clown began to create another one of its explosive toys.[break][break]

Much bigger then the previous one, one could even say as big as the moon, the globe was slowly floating downwards, located just over the Lighthouse. Balder turned his head to stare at the Blacephalon, who proceeded to emulate that, if the ball touches the peak of the lighthouse... boom. And judging from the previous explosion, this one could be quite dangerous. And much bigger too. Maybe escaping the city wouldn't be enough at this point.[break][break]

To had more to the stress, the creature sent a tracking orb after people. In panic, people began to toss it around to get rid of it, but it always found a new target. And thus, it came towards Balder. But just before it collided, a Kingler smashed the ball towards Bailey, member of the elite 4. A pokemon he was somewhat familiar with, as it belonged to Olivia. As Balder facepalmed from the action of the Kingler, Olivia began to shoot orders to everyone, until she moved in towards Balder and whispered they needed to get to the lightouse and that he should listen to her if he trusted her. And then she started pleading to Leo about how she needed his assistance. Uncomfortable, the lion turned towards Balder, wondering what they should do. The ALolan Avenger's face was slowly turning red from the anger.[break][break]

"Trust you? You litterally sent a floating bomb towards one of the elite four and then ordered her to assist the civilians. If that ball didn't get deflected to somebody else, your choice would've put not only one of our strongest asset, but many civilians in danger! Especially since I could've possible handled that explosion with my hardened body! Plus, you tell people to chase after the beast, yet you want just you and me to go to the lighthouse? Clearly, it's not to stop that explosion! You got something else in mind, and I'm not helping you until you explain it. I'll do as I want, as the other inviduals here should."[break][break]

Hopefully she would explain herself, otherwise Balder was ready to act accordingly. Possibly even denounce her to the council and have her removed, as this was definitely the worst idea the lady ever had. What could've happened to make her fall so much?

Balder had hoped that the black Charizard would be able to dodge a few of those rocks, even counterattack and cause more problems. Yet... It didn't happen. The pointy rocks that had been sent back by Geo struck their targets, making the dragon fall to the ground, covered in blood and a lingering effect of the electricity.[break][break]

If anything, this was entirely unexpected. With all that the man had said, he was hoping to see more fight from that duo, especially with how riled up the charizard seemed to be. But Stormy's mind wasn't in the game. At all. She wasn't moving when the stones were sent back to her pokemon. Her concentration was, essentially, shattered.[break][break]

Defiantly, she seemed to refuse acknowledging her defeat and stated that this was a good time for them to take their leave. While Geo didn't seem to agree with this and was about to rush forward, Balder placed his hands before the creature. "That's understandable. Make sure to take good care of Wadjet's wounds. This might help too."[break][break]

Balder pulled an hyper potion from his pocket and threw it in Stormy's direction, for her to use on her pokemon and relieve it from its suffering. As she left, the lady stated that he would be a good gym leader, which left him confused a bit. "It would be a good idea to start with simply a Gym trainer... Anyways, time to go Geo. Back into the ball." Balder recalled his pokemon into the pokeball, heading off the mountain and slowly back towards Sootopolis to begind his Gym Trainer duties. Little did he know at the time, that he would soon become the gym leader instead.

The shield shattered, the wolf was sent flying and immediately recalled to the pokeball. Both sides were now down to 2 pokemons, yet Kyle still held the advantage. Both of his remaining pokemons were still at full capacity, although the Leafeon might be running short on stamina with moving around so much.[break][break]

As the big fire dog, Arcanine, emerged, the Leafeon proceeded to hide underneath while Wil emitted an intimidating roar. Even though Teddy was still lost in his trashing mindset, his body froze for a second from hearing the roar, showing that the move functioned. Shell didn't seem to be showing any difference, yet it most likely had struck a chord in his being. And then, Kyle proceeded to ask who had the advantage at this point while chuckling.[break][break]

A smile drew itself on Balder's face. "I'd say you still have the advantage... But not for long! IT'S TIME TO TURN THE TABLES, TEDDY! SHOW THAT NEW DOG WHO'S THE BOSS HERE!" The bear roared as he was already charging the Arcanine, flailing his arms as he started trashing around once more, seemingly more aggressive this time. Possibly a sign that he's running out of juice?[break][break]

"Shell, give him some support! Show them that they should fear you too!" The turtle dragon took a deep breath, building up some energy inside his lungs, before releasing a purple smoke cloud towards the battling trio, hoping to at least damage the Arcanine and Leafeon, and possibly poison them too![break]

A festival. A common occurrence back in Alola, as those festivals were meant to be offerings to the Tapus or to be thankful about certain things. Seeing something similar in Hoenn? That was a refreshing sight for the Alolan Avenger. Of course, he could not miss that fabulous event. The man cancelled anything he had planned for the day and flew upon Blaze, his Charizard, to arrive in time for the festivities.[break][break]

The Wannabe Dragon and his master landed at the entrance of Slateport at the beginning of the night, far away from the lighthouse. "Thanks for the ride, Blaze. Get some rest for now, I'll make you join the festivities later." The dragon emitted a low cute roar as it got recalled into his pokeball. The alolan man began to look around the stands, taking some food to enjoy.[break][break]

That was, until the commotion began. As a hole opened in the skin and a creature dropped from it, people seemed to go crazy. Screams and cries for help resonated in the crowd as people began to run for their lives. Not long after, a gigantic sphere emerged from the stands, growing a bit more before exploding with such force that the shock-wave could be felt in the whole city.[break][break]

As Balder saw the sphere expand, he immediately grabbed Solgaleo's pokeball and called him onto the field. The mighty lion roared towards the sky as it observed the exploding sphere, eyes squinted as if he knew what that could be. "Leo, cover us! We need a good protection to cover those behind us too!" The lion nodded, placing itself near a wall of earth that a Hydreigon made, and Balder later noticed it was Thomas' pokemon. Then, the solar creature proceeded to roar, making his mane emit light that solidified itself before him and extended on the sides and to the sky for a really long distance: the effect of the mode Wide Guard. Hopefully, this would be enough to contain the explosion.[break][break]
