"A new challenger approaches! One of unknown background, yet unwavering resolve! She may be a beginner and have applied as such, but don't be fooled! She may have applied for the learning experience, but her actions might surprise you, folks!" Resonating in the courtyard and in the radios and TVs of Sootopolis was the voice of a tall dark skinned man, wearing some white tribal garment.[break][break]

"Oh but how careless of me, I have yet to introduce myself right? The name's Michelangelo Abiero. A pleasure, ladies and gentleman. Balder Schwartz, our dear gym leader, decided to hire me to entertain you all as well as serve as a guide to our new challengers!" Cheers and applauds resonated in the inner courtyard of the castle, where the central spire was located[break][break]

As the challenger would arrive at the entrance of the castle, she would be guided through multiple hallways and spacious rooms before exiting into the inner courtroom, to stand before a gigantic spire with a staircase going around it. The announcer, riding atop a Braviary, would perch itself nearby as he would notice the challenger entering the courtyard. "ALRIGHT FOLKS, IT'S TIME TO INTRODUCE TODAY'S CHALLENGER! PLEASE WELCOME... ANNIE MEI! ... Wait that name sounds familiar for some reason."

A new challenger rises up to the challenge! As Balder had issued the dates for their challenges, the man was honestly surprised to see the name of this man on the list. Thomas Benoit. Another gym leader, although he had only met him once and that was when they fought against a berserk Ursaring that had grew to an unexpected size. Needless to say, his first impression of the gym leader at the time wasn't excellent.[break][break]

Yet, the conditions also excused his actions. They had been necessary at the time. If no one had taken the leader position, it's highly possible that things would've grown more chaotic and they would've been unable to resolve this battle without any casualties. In the end, Balder could respect the choices made by the man. He didn't like how it was brought to that, but he agreed with the idea.[break][break]

Now, the dark gym leader wanted to face him in battle. Was it to see how the new gym leader fared? Or because he himself wanted to rise up and reach the throne of the champion? Or maybe it was simply for fun and experience? Seated on his throne made of stone, the "Kahuna" couldn't help but ponder on all those questions as he awaited the challenger at the top of the Silver Spire, inside the dome he had remodeled to become a fighting arena able to handle any kind of battles. As the challenger would arrive, one of the Alolan ladies would guide him to this circular dome located deep into the castle.

It seemed like Kyle had been pleased by the compliment about his tactics. That's a good thing. Balder smiled before observing the battle go on. While the initial target for the Hammer Arm was out of reach now, the attack still struck one of the two creatures, dealing some damage. Yet the Leafeon seemed to recover the damage fast enough thanks to the synthesis.[break][break]

As the Leafeon served as a shield, Kyle decided to proceed with Toxic once more, to try and cripple the Turtonator. If that were to strike, things would go south even more... "Teddy, block the attack!" Hearing the orders from his master, the big bear jumped towards the side, blocking the mass of poison from reaching the turtle. In this case, however, it meant that Teddy was now heavily poisoned. A bad thing, right?[break][break]

Suddenly, the sky dome began to close, cutting the light of the sun from reaching inside the dome. The lights in the dome lit up to compensate the lack of solar light, allowing for the battle to continue. The ursaring stood back up from taking the poison hit, patting his belly to remove some dust and sludge remains.[break][break]

"Guess it's about time to show that we can do coordination too. Teddy, time to trash about! Shell, light this place up!" Powered by the strength of his Guts, the bear lunged forward, flailing his arms around as he tried to strike the Mightyena before him. As for the turtle dragon, he took aim at the Leafeon and unleashed the move Flamethrower, in order to try and defeat him before he becomes more of a problem.

It seems that gym leader reverred legendary creatures more then he expected. For a simple mistake in the documents, she wanted to have them corrected and most likely reprinted. Balder sighed as he looked at Cait. "No need to have the documents modified. It's possible that this was accurate when the documents were made. And I'd prefer to have history remain as it was done in the past. Anyways, it's also possible that it's just one of Leo's whims and not accurate to the reality."[break][break]

Balder side-eyed Solgaleo, who simply yawned as an answer to his statements. The alolan man then looked back at the gym leader as she stated the rules of the duel and sent her Lombre onto the battlefield. The pokemon seemed relaxed, maybe even uninterested by what seemed to be going on around him, eyes clearly not focused.[break][break]

"One on one huh... No room for any errors. Guess we'll have to be swift on this. Let's do this, Buzz." As he said these words, Balder threw a net ball in the air, allowing the dragonfly pokemon Yanma to take flight. The bug-type started to look around excitedly before going to rub its head against Balder, making him smile gently.[break][break]

"I'll give you treats later bud, for now we got a job to do. Let's open this match with Hypnosis!" The flying insect nodded before going back towards the battlefield. The Yanma's eyes became bright pink as it stared at the Lombre, emitting psychic waves to try and induce a sleep effect on the grass-type creature that they were facing.

Things seemed to be going well at first. Solgaleo was greeting a possible old friend, although the creature seemed confused about something. Yet, all of a sudden, everything took a turn for the worse. The Solgaleo jumped back, almost growling. As Balder stood back up, wondering what had caused such a reaction from the solar lion, he felt something.[break][break]

A dread. A cold feeling, one that his body felt previously but that his memory couldn't pinpoint on why. That feeling that something from his being was about to be teared apart and snatched forever. Possibly a threat to his life even. As he stood still, he could feel his connection with Solgaleo was growing weaker, that he was losing power. Balder's face was now depicting something akin to fear. "No..."[break][break]

The man took a step back, with the wrong leg sadly, causing him to collapse. Yet, he was still in the reach of the Cosmog's sucking power. Balder tried to use his arms to bring himself further away, but Solgaleo intervened faster, grabbing the man by his collar and throwing him at the other end of the room and hitting the wall. A savage method to save someone, but in this situation... it was the best option.[break][break]

The Alolan Avenger stood back up, breathing heavily and cold sweat sliding down his face. That creature was definitely not normal, especially if it was taking the energy of avatars and legendary pokemons like that. But what about regular humans? Would it feed on them? Looking at Kyle, it didn't seem to be the case...[break][break]

"That thing... is more dangerous then expected. I'd love to help you Kyle, but being near this creature puts me and Solgaleo in danger. I can't risk anything, not right now at least. I just hope it won't try to devour everything in sight. Now... if you don't mind, could you please put it away if you want to stay?" The man's body was shaking as he was saying those words, showing how affected he was from such an experience.

The hate pokemon practically ignored him. Her victim dealt with, it returned towards what seemed to be her trainer. As the young lady recovered the pokemon in her pokeball, she began to apologise and try to explain that her pokemon had acted on her and was being overprotective. Does that mean the unconcious guy did something he shouldn't have to begin with? If so, it could be said she was in the right to let her pokemon act in this manner. Yet, this clearly went too far.[break][break]

"Falco, take the guy to the hospital. Don't let him leave until I get there, cause he'll have some explaining to do." For a few seconds, the bird stared at his trainer, worried about what might happen. Still, the Braviary proceeded with the order, grabbing the man in his claws and flying away towards the hospital.[break][break]

Balder observed his pokemon fly away, making sure he was heading in the right direction and that the man was well secured. After confirming all this, he turned his attention towards the young lady and the Luxio that was with her. "Alright young lady, you got some explaining to do. You say your pokemon is overprotective and doesn't like being in a pokeball... What happened to cause her to go this far against a simple human?"[break][break]

"Also, if she keeps popping out of her pokeball and running amok like that, needless to say that it reflects poorly on your capabilities as a trainer. If you can't discipline your pokemon, situations like these will happen more often until she ends up possibly killing someone. And if that happens someday, there's gonna be a lot of issues. How do you plan on solving that problem?"[break][break]

It was a harsh and abrupt speech, that's for sure. He knew nothing of the other girl or what she had gone through, which would possibly explain such actions from the unknown pokemon. But as a Gym Leader, he couldn't let such a lack of discipline and control from a trainer go without saying anything. And, as he had stated, there could be more chaos in the future if that situation wasn't handled better. Crossing his arms upon his chest, Balder waited for the girl's answer.

It didn't seem like the gym leader was pleased with his offer. Of course, that was understandable, seeing how the legends depicted the Sun's Emissary's powers. Plus in the way it affected Balder's body too. As she began to ask questions, Balder began to scratch the back of his head. "To be quite honest, there's no special reasons. I just thought he'd like to enjoy that kind of challenge. Of course, he won't be using his full power."[break][break]

Suddenly, the pokeball containing Solgaleo opened by itself, releasing the legendary pokemon. The Sun Emissary looked at Cait and bowed before going to lay on the edge of the arena. Balder watched the lion move and go lay down on the edge before sighing. "Ok so I'm guessing you're sitting this one out in the end, Leo? Also, Miss Alfric, Leo's stating that he's not the sun god, but rather an Emissary representing the power of the sun. I don't see any difference there but maybe that's gonna make a difference to you."[break][break]

The Alolan Avenger began to stretch. Since Solgaleo didn't want to fight in this gym battle, he had to make do with the rest of his team. "Well, since Leo decided to sit on the sidelines and observe, I'll use other pokemons. Can you tell me which format and restrictions you would like to apply to our battle?"

The Flame Charge struck the barrier, colliding with enough force to shake the air around the battlefield. Balder whistled at the intensity of the strike, surprised that his Blaziken was able to deliver such a powerful strike. Sadly, the protection offered by Bravo was able to fend off the damage from the attack, allowing for the Tri-Attack to hit the pokemon directly.[break][break]

As the 3 elemental beams struck their targets, the Blaziken stood his ground, trying to tank the attack as much as possible. However, the beams kept on pushing him away from the opponent, stopping any possible counterattack. A cloud of smoke rose up as the attack finished.
