the pinkette only affectionately rolled her eyes. she, of course, didn't take his stubborn comment to heart. he had to miss her - they'd been best friends, for arceus' sake! giggling softly under her breath at the clear distaste he held for chancelor and his pokemon, she waved off his warnings with a gesture of her hand. "i'm sure charizard is a sweetie underneath that rugged look!...kinda like you!" she hummed, his warnings flowing in one ear and out through the other. "chance isn't nearly as bad as you make him out to be! he's...matured. a bit. he's fun to be around....a bit crazy but..." realizing she was losing her arguing case, the woman waved him off. "you're being over dramatic!" of course, someone like her had little room to talk in regards to being 'over dramatic'.

once again, she completely missed whatever point he was trying to make, all in favor of beaming at the man with big, doe eyes. "that's it! i can get a cape! maybe something pink?" she flashed a few poses, as though imaging she had a flowing cape just like he did. "i can be just as cool as you are then, right, teo?" she looked over her shoulder, offering him a warm smile as her emerald gaze stared right into his eyes. surprisingly, there was no amount of taunt nor playful tease in her voice; she was being sincere.

the moment was, unfortunately, ruined by her clumsily tripping over a psyduck she failed to see. the dumb, yellow duck had been staring intently at a fish in a puddle of water in the middle of the trailing path.

"why do things keep happening to me today," the girl complained with a soft groan - but...wait, this was her chance! "help me up?" she batted her eyes up at him.

"Can you make me some?" the slightly groggy words were addressed to @kingsley . noelle was one of the late risers. with her pink and green hair splayed every which way and still in her pjs, she even still wore her dragonite slippers. well, one of them anyway. her deino trotted by her side, carrying one of the torn up slippers in his mouth. "extra sugar and cream, please. actually, just bring the whole jar of sugar."

taking a seat on one of the couch cushions, the dragon settles down beside her. "Good....uh, morning? it's still morning right?" noelle yawns, rubbing at her eyes.

there was a constant hang of gloom and grime that surrounded this area. the shadows flickered with dancing ghost-types and dark people lingered at every corner; this wasn't a good place. noelle's bright appearance and personality stuck out like a sore thumb - like a rose among sewage. she wasn't exactly scared though. perhaps it was bravery or foolishness, but, the itch to wander had been a strong one today. and no one was going to deter that, neither person nor pokemon.

while she was more than confident in her ability to keep herself safe. being the to-be priestess and protector of the dragon den, a 'calm' or perhaps even 'regal' disposition had been taught to her, despite her usual, bubbly nonsense. and so, noelle, for once, appeared as such as she idly strolled the discarded streets.

Leaving mateo to do the 'hard work' of finding a recipe, noelle was too busy petting kyle. why he had an arcanine named after a person was beyond her - maybe it was a term of endearment? maybe she should name a dragon 'mateo'? that'd be...weird though? then again, if he named a pokemon 'noelle'...the thought brought a slight pinkish tinge to her cheeks.

jumping at the sudden shout, she turned to stare at the man, leaving the dog alone and tilting her head as he raved on about finding something to cook. "yes, chief!" she agreed with each point he made with a comical clap of her hands and playful smile. "something that's gonna knock their socks off!" she repeated, "dragon fire, yes!" was she edging him on? possibly. it was hard to resist not taunting him a little; he was so adorable when he got worked up.

when he abruptly started to stare at her though, the pinkette fell silent. there was...something about the way he was looking at her that made her heart thump in her chest, to where she feared he might've been able to hear it. why was he looking at her like this? for once, she felt almost...shy?

when he finally began to speak, she smiled at the suggestion, enthusiastically nodding. it honestly sounded...delicious. he seemed so knowledgeable on the subject; had he always been this excited about baking? but, more importantly, had...she been his muse for such a creative, pink cake? cheeks aflame in a blush, she couldn't help but beam at him. "let's do it! we'll make the best cake hoenn's ever seen! dragon clan style!"

she turned to face the kitchen with a wide grin, grabbing a few various utensils and staring at the ingredients scattered about on the counter with a blank stare. slowly, she turned to face mateo once more.

"....how do you make a cake?"

for someone who was always chattering and as lively as she was, when she fell completely silent, it was almost...scary. really, as mateo scrambled to try and remember what he'd forgotten, noelle stared at him with a highly disappointed look. at the very least, he had enough guts to tell her he'd genuinely forgotten instead of trying to play it off. it honestly made her, internally, smile - she really was smitten with him. finally though, she let out a soft breath. "fine, i'll tell you - but, try to remember the stuff you promise in the future, dummy," she complained, finally sounding like her old self.

her heart pounded a bit in her chest as she leaned closer. like, really close. "a couple of years back, you promised me that when we got older and you 'did everything you needed to do', we'd get married." she...left out the details of how she'd sorta kinda forced him to make the promise. that wasn't important though! what was important was the end result; and that was, that a promise was a promise.

forehead nearly touching his own now in a daringly close manner, she smiled. vibrantly, full of hope and promise.

"so," she pipped up, batting her eyelashes as she leaned closer, "where's the ring?"

her lips drew into a slightly flat line and unamused expression. she...didn't want to go swimming with the others. that was so...ugh. it sounded fun, she supposed but that defeated the whole purpose of - "he's so dumb," the woman grumbled underneath her breath. but, with mateo, she'd get what she could take.

his and chancelor's ever odd relationship was always refreshing and amusing to the pinkette - it hadn't changed even as adults. a small blush came to her cheeks at the notion of being useful to him. "i can be useful in others way too, y'know," she giggled - playfully and teasingly - but...hey, there was a bit of truth in her words. a devilish smirk curled over her lips though as she let out a little 'hehe'. "you can try, little teo! your muscles don't look all that different from when you were a child," she innocently hummed.

that was definitely a lie. because those things were nice to look at. she couldn't give him too much of a swell head though.

before she could answer his question, a loud buzz appeared - a vespiqueen hovered above the treetops. always having an admiration for the pokemon, she couldn't resist the urge to try and catch it. argos, like a true parent, noticed the glimmer within noelle's eyes almost immediately. always one to spoil the woman, he moved without command. a flash of silvery light shot from his twin canons. the flash canon struck the bug type hard and quick, causing it to fall to the ground along with a few loosened tree branches that fell atop of it.

"ah, argos, easy-!" noelle scrambled for a pokeball, tossing the ball at the fallen and trapped bug. picking up the, hopefully, captured pokemon, she turned back to finally address mateo.

"because i want to spend time with you. duh. i want to make up for all the lost years, i've really missed you, y'know?" the girl spoke bluntly and truthfully.

"spending time with chance is....tiring. but, i've missed him too so maybe...ah, maybe he'll go swimming with me! or maybe he'll let me take charizard out for a ride? do you think he'd let me?" she hummed, musing aloud. she really did need to reconnect with him as well. despite being 'crazy' for dragon boy over here, the young mcqueen was also a dear friend of hers.

however, abruptly, noelle paused, blinking once. and then twice.

"are you...saying you want to go shopping with me? of course, my love! we can choose out a matching outfit!" she was quick to try and latch onto his arm, if just to nestle her face into it.

Light began to trickle into the scorching cavern, promising the nearness of an exit. Nero, still a bit grumpy but awake, trotted near her side. Funnily enough, the deino occasionally paused every so often, if just to look back at her to make sure she was both still there and okay. Despite his extremely rough outside, the pokemon really was sweethearted. She felt his emotions more genuine than he did himself - if only she could make him realize this.

as they neared the opening, a beast stood tall, as though guarding the exit. a nidoqueen, who looked a bit more aggravated than usual. the typically mellow-natured pokemon stalked back and forth, its head whipping around to stare down the trainer. it was clear what that aggressive gaze said; find another exit.

unfortunately, even noelle could agree, that wasn't a possibility. there was no way she was going to turn around and walk back to the entrance. "nero?" she called out to her dragon. he looked up at her with a soft growl. a feeling of understanding and a desire to protect and please; he was, for once, listening to her with the sync that a dragon and its tamer should have.

always a bit wary with battling due to her own lack of 'proper' skill with it, an image of mateo and what he would do popped up in her mind. "okay...okay, yeah! let's do this!" pumping herself up, she pointed a finger forward, "dragon rush!" bathed in a mystical blue energy, the dragon charged forward. in a considerable feat of strength, he managed to push back the larger, heavier pokemon, but, was soon grabbed. unable to escape the nidoqueen's clutches, noelle's heart sank slightly. she messed up.

a superpower was used on the dark dragon that grinds his body into the ground beneath, a hand held to his throat to prevent him from getting up. 'think, think...ah, got it!' "hyper voice!" a screech erupted from nero's throat, loud enough at such a close range that it made the nidoqueen recoil, holding its ears with an estranged cry. "body slam it to the wall," if he was too small to do any real damage, they had to be a bit creative. and so, with enormous effort, the dragon chucked himself at the poison/ground type. the wild pokemon was slammed into the wall with enough force that the cavern rattled, its back denting and cracking the wall. the force was enough to knock it out.

"we...did it!" the happy cheer left her lips with a victorious shout. nero huffed, lifting his head upwards in a soft of 'cool' pose. until it was promptly ruined by noelle picking him up and spinning him around. "my little baby is getting stronger!" she cooed, and was rewarded with a bite to the face. not that it stopped her from coddling him any. he had no choice but to accept them.

a small laugh flowed from her lips, filled with fondness at the brief thoughts of their childhood. sure, they'd grown up considerably and weren't those same, dumb kids anymore but, surely somethings had remained the same? regardless of how much he wanted to deny it. they were memories she held onto fondly - ones that she'd likely carry over his head for all eternity, in all honesty.

speaking of memories though...

had he really forgotten? no, no there wasn't anyway he could've forgotten. but, as the man rumbled on and on, trying to speculate what promise it was he had made her...it became more and more apparent that he had actually forgotten. maybe he was just playing stubborn and hard to get? he was dumb like that - he'd definitely pull her leg like that! her falling expression saved itself, a speck of hope doting her eyes as he finally stopped going on about training with her. maybe he -

nope.

"...mateo..." she spoke, letting out a soft breath. big, doe-like eyes stared up at him in near tears. she was pulling out all the stops now. "you...didn't actually forget, did you?" how could he forget about something she held so near and dear to her heart, even after all of these years?

she gave a little sniffle.

"Did you?"

the great hoenn bake

if woman liked a men who could cook, having one who could bake was on a whole other tier in itself. noelle herself had little clue what she was doing aside from, 'putting stuff into a bowl and into the oven'. baking never came easy to her; it required too much particulars and delicate handiwork. try gently breaking an egg when one had hands like herself - it was almost impossible. of course, she had more control over her monstrous strength now that she was older, but, the talent had still never grown on her.

but, add mateo into the mix? she'd accomplish anything!

beaming up at the man who looked at her with less than disdain, noelle only smiled. "hm? oh, yea - i love you too," noelle beamed up at him with nothing but sheer, unadulterated affection....and perhaps the slightest bit of a taunt. he was stuck here with her, whether he wanted to or not. so, he best suck it up and get over it!

She also wore an apron. although, hers had the stereotypical, 'kiss the chief' on it. Except, it also had the words, 'please let me', crudely written in permanent marker on it. Go figure.

her emerald gaze flickered downwards, watching with a few blinks as the white, creamy substance spilled onto the floor. "...are you sure you know what you're doing? you're already making a mess - oi, you're holding the bag too tight!"

the terrible two

unlike her companion, noelle didn't mind kids. perhaps it was because she herself could be quite childish, but, they could be a bit...cute. with their dumb, endless questions to their constant need of attention, how could anyone not love them? now, was she good with children? that...was up for debate. sometimes she was. but, then other times, she'd leave them beside a hungry garchomp without batting an eye.

"mateo! watch your language!" she yelled up at him in a scolding tone and sigh.

"he's so loud," the little girl whispered from where she held onto Noelle's fingertips.

"Very loud," noelle agreed with a little giggle, trying her hardest not to burst out laughing at the sight of the enraged man just upstairs. he...was really horrible with kids, wasn't he? "can you help me look for your brother?" she asked the little girl, who eagerly nodded.

"ahuh!"
"do you know where he is?"
"nope!"
"are you telling the truth?"
"maybe!"

ah, kids. weren't they wonderful?

about to usher the young girl off to help in their search, the child abruptly pointed upwards. "i won! look, look! i found him!" noelle quirked a brow. where...was she pointing? the color on the woman's face slowly drained as she looked up and saw-....oh god.

the little guy had, somehow, snatched mateo's cape. he stood on the banister that overlooked the second floor, holding it like a hang glider. "i'm a superhero! i can fly!"

"oh my arc- MATEO!" noelle screamed out frantically waving her hands. she'd left her pokeballs on the couch...ugh, this was not good. if she could just distract him until mateo grabbed him from behind..."h-hey, don't uh...can you get down from there, please? uhm, i'll give you ice cream! two scoops!...three scoops?" she tried to bargain with the monstrous little kid, but, he only let out a hearty giggle, showing little fear as he tattered on the thin railing, preparing to take a leap of faith. "...f-four scoops?!"

it was cold, and it got colder. even with the help of sunny clark - who she gave a frantic and happy wave to btw - it seemed...pointless. and colder. and she didn't do the cold.

returning her dragonair and huddling close to august, much to his dismay, the shouting by her 'one and only' had her all ears. it was really was believable that he could be the head of their 'hundred devouring family' one day. "you got this, babe!" she, somewhat playfully, shouted out to mateo martinez as he drew closer. as for her? as much as she would've loved to fight by his side, it was cold.

she didn't do the cold.

and so, she took herself right back on into the base, flanked by her typhlosion who she refused to return to his pokeball despite his pleas. after she warmed up a bit and let odessa 'recharge', she might go back out to lend her future husband a help. maybe.

back inside the far warmer base with slightly chattering teeth, she waved to Morgan Drake , about to approach him until she heard the distant rumble of...someone? she didn't know who he was, but, the moment she realized he was speaking about mateo, she felt a bit ah...angry? could she get angry? was anger a thing she had? her typhlosion peered curiously up at her, trotting by her heels as she took a few steps closer to the darker haired man.

"hey!" she huffed sharply over at @bronze with a frown, "at least he's doing something. are you doing something? anything? aside from drinking...whatever that is?" she fired back. it wasn't the 'meanest', but, she sounded pretty...stern. if not a bit critical. "we're not just here to twiddle our thumbs and drink...whatever that is!"

"really? that's good," noelle, oblivious to his confusion, let out a little sigh of relief. the appearance of the deino sparked a slight fondness within her heart - if not a bit of envy. nero was...difficult. had mateo attempted such a thing with the unruly dark dragon, he likely would've gotten his hand bitten. he was...a work in progress. getting better, but, still missing something. but, one day, he'd get there and be the dragon he was destined to be, she'd promised him this.

"congratulations," noelle gave him a warm smile, "uhm...how much you'd enjoy swimming with me?" noelle suggested casually, a tiny, impish smirk creeping onto her lips as she gave him a playful wink. Now walking alongside her blastoise, there was the starling war cry of something above the trees and a flash of feathers. in a grand entrance of some kind, a colorful bird fell to the ground. all the while, something rather hideous looking pulled itself from out of the lake, glowering at the two trainers as it made its way over.

"oh, teo! you know who'd love both of these?" she smiled, clasping her hands together. "we've got to catch them for him!" as soon as the words left her lips, she realized that there was a...99% chance that the 'dragon-king' wouldn't even think of ever catching something, and gifting it, to Chancelor of all people. she didn't understand how the men were so close, yet, acted like they couldn't stand one another. then again, mateo wasn't exactly the....easiest to get along with. he was so stubborn. stupidly stubborn.

"ah...think of it as a way to get the 'one up' over him! 'cause, he'll owe you one if you gift him this, right? and him owing you anything will really make him mad, i bet! sssoooo," she offered a sheepish smile before turning to the nearing barbaracle. it kinda creeped her out, honestly. the way it stared both her and argos down made her shudder, but, she wouldn't be dismayed.

"argos," she called out to her blastoise, "can you handle this?" she asked hopefully. the seasoned turtle nodded, stepping forward. the water rock man made the first move.

a cross chop was delivered to the blastoise's head. however, argos quickly retracted his head into his shell, causing the move to unsuccessfully clash with the hard, armor-esque material instead. his stubby arms grasped hold of the barbaracle's retracting arms, holding it into place. twin canons revealing itself from his shell, a white beam of flash canon erupted from the nozzles, the force of the close range blow causing the water/rock type to sink into the ground whilst argos' hold on its arm prevented it from being blasted away. trapped, injured, and unable to escape the blastoise's grip, there was little more it could do.

always eager to watch the experienced turtle handle his own battles, if not a bit jealous that she had yet to develop the skills to command such plans, noelle clapped her hands in victory for him. unhooking a pokeball, she lightly tapped it to the barbaracle's head. "one down!"

"Sensitive? I'm not - hey, no, you're sensitive. And soft!" Noelle argued back with a small huff, arms crossing over her chest and brows knitting. Yeah, that'd give him a little taste of his own medicine, that'd show him! Her dragonair gave her a slight look of disdain to a little roll of her eyes, but, otherwise stayed on guard.

Honestly, after being rejected so many times by Mateo in ways that were sometimes more creative, or violent, than one would think, his confusion to her advances, despite their good intent, didn't hurt nor surprise her. In fact, jarringly enough, she stopped her steady inch forward in favor of just an , 'oh'. "You think that's it? Just an absol? Kinda lackluster. I was hoping for something like a...like a darkrai to pop out. Does Hoenn have one of those?" She idly chattered about the ghost with a wide smile.

"Well...if we're possibly done here, do...you mind leaving? I paid good money for this room, after all. And if it's not haunted anymore, than, great!"
