dark, yet darker [dw / open]

"ah - sorry, sorry!" noelle was quick to apologize with a slightly frazzled dip of her head. oh - wow, he had pretty eyes. almost as pretty as her fiance's. but, really, nothing could beat those smoldering, fiery red- no, no, she had to focus!

except, she'd been staring at him pretty intently. clearing her throat, she offered a smile. "it'll take way more than that to beat me down! when i was a child, a friend of mine used to always try and wrestle me down anyway." she paused, giving a smug, happy-go-lucky grin, "he never beat me. not once." and that remained true, even to this day.

her dragonair peered down at the absol, bending her head down in a small, respectful greeting before returning to her reserved and mysterious disposition.

"are you-" before she could finish her question, two figures appeared. it was a hitmonchan facing off against a mamoswine - or, more like antagonizing the mud pig for a battle. while she didn't have much interest in the fighting type, she did know someone who would. and so, with a loud gasp, she briefly forgot about the man standing before her in favor of whirling on her heels to face the box-glove wearing pokemon.

"You!" the hitmonchan paused, pointing to itself. "yes, you! you're perfect! oh my gosh, @mrtm87 is gonna love this!" she smiled victoriously to herself.

the fighting type rose a brow, eventually deciding to ignore the weird trainer and get back to its fight. "Wait, wait, don't just ignore me!" noelle soon whined, stepping a bit closer.

"what if i said, i had someone who could give you a real challenge?" the hitmonchan rose up its gloved fists to her, causing the pinkette to pale slightly, taking a step back and frantically waving her hands. "not me! but, someone very important to me. he's one of the strongest people i know, both as a trainer and person. uhm...how do he say it...uh..." she snapped her fingers for a second before perking back up.

"he's the freshest one 'round and makes all the delcatties go 'purr'!" she, once again, received a deadpanned expression. "...he...can give you a run for your money?" now that got the fighting type's interest.

taking out a pokeball, she smiled, holding the sphere outwards. "he's no cakewalk, i'm telling you! don't say i didn't warn you." she giggled, a bit pleased with how content the pokemon looked as it tapped its fist to the pokeball, and was sucked inside of it.

"i wanted to swim," the words came out as blunt as could be, "preferably with you," now they sounded a bit more like a whine. "really - with kyle? the last time he and i went on a mission, he-" could she tell mateo about his 'illegal pokemon capture'? didn't she promise not to tell anyone? the pinkette let out a loud, grumbling mutter, sinking further onto the shell of her blastoise.

"relax, dragon king and just enjoy my company for a moment!" she chided him with a tsk. unfortunately, there wasn't much relaxation to be had, as, rather abruptly, a pelipper dropped from the trees and right onto her.

a small shriek erupted from noelle's lips as the deranged bird began to peck and pull at her hair. her hands waved about wildly as she tried to get it to go away, to the point that she actually fell off of blastoise's shell, landing on the ground with a thud and teary eyes.

"Mate-oh, ow!" She cried out for her knight in shining armor to save her. But, it was blastoise who responded first. The crazy water bird was shot in the face with an up-close hydro pump that blasted it through the trees. the big turtle let out an irritated huff, reaching over to comfortingly pat his trainer on the head...and fix her, now, tangled hair. giving argos a grateful look, she sniffled, staring at mateo.

"h-how do i look?"

Nearly out of the fiery, smoldering cavern, the trip was made even longer by her deino becoming utterly heat exhausted, yet, still insisted staying out of his pokeball like a little kid. And so, in a rather impressive feat of strength as well, the pinkette hauled his heavy butt upwards, cradling him like a child, much to his embarrassment. Nero didn't object though, especially when she managed to convince him that he was 'watching her flank'. And so, this was how the two traveled.

Within ten minutes, the usually rough dragon was fast asleep, nestled into her shoulder. It was a cute sight, honestly. If anything, it made her even more determined to forge a genuine bond with the troublemaker.

Not paying attention to where she was heading within the dark tunnel, a sharp hiss soon hit her ears as she stepped upon the tail of something. "O-oh, uh, sorry!" She was quick to apologize as she was met with a sharp glower. In her arms, the deino roused, looking over his shoulder to glower at the fuming feline. Fire dripped from the cat's teeth as a warning, a possible fire fang within the making. having none of it, nero jumped from her arms, his short temper already snapped, and a possible protective side showing as his teeth latched onto the feline's face in a relentless bite. The feline roared, shaking its head and trying to get the dragon to let go.

not one for battling, noelle was...at a lost for what to do. thankfully, nero seemed to have it under control. letting go and dropping to all fours, a swell of mystical energy cloaked his body as he dashed forward. the dragon rush hit the feline in the throat with enough force to send it sprawling backwards. realizing the strength the baby dragon possessed, it, surprisingly, backed off, retreating into the depths of the cavern.

"did you just protect me?" noelle commented with a smug smile. nero only scoffed, head tilted upwards in a cocky gesture as he ignored her question and trotted on ahead.

"Oh...gross, it's cold," a whine erupted from the woman's lips as she shuddered where she stood, rubbing at her arms. While this would be a prime time to suggest cuddling with her 'fiance', she wasn't really sure where he was.

lucky for him.

And so, that left matters in her own hands to try and clear up this mess. Making note of the girl who slipped the moment she touched the seemingly 'soft' and 'harmless' snow, Noelle only cringed. See - this was why she hated snow. It got everywhere. It was cold. It hurt people. For a moment, the urge to return inside was immense. she didn't 'do' cold.

But, no, here she was. Standing on the snow-coated beach, trying not to seem like a shuddering mess. The mist that coated the shoreline was thick, making it hard to see....well, anything. "A-A-August, please, please come here!"

A flash of light, and her typhlosion stood, staring in disdain at the snowy mess around them both. Almost immediately, he reached for his pokeball, likely trying to return himself. He didn't want to deal with this.

"W-what, no-no, stop," Noelle whined, pushing his nubby hands away. "I need your help." The fire-type only groaned, rolling his eyes, but, not disagreeing.

Soon, another flash of light, and Odessa stood by her side. The dragon looked less than pleased to be in the cold. A small shudder took over her serpentine form - she looked extremely uncomfortable. "I'm sorry," Noelle abruptly apologized. She felt the dragon's disdain harder than any other, to the point where the pinkette looked visibly upset as she touched a hand to her side. "Endure it for a moment longer, if you can?" She sweetly asked, and the dragonair gave a slow nod.

"August, ignite!" The typhlosion, under the matronly dragonair's watchful stare, listened. A collar of intense flames ignited upon his neck. "Start getting rid of the snow - and Odessa, can you clear this mist?" Both pokemon obliged. An intense inferno of flames erupted from August's mouth, as he was forced to use fire hot enough to combat that intense cold. It met with the snowy ground in a grueling, slow attempt at melting it and the compact ice underneath. Meanwhile, powerful winds stirred around Odessa's tail, whipping into a tornado. The twister launched itself from her lithe body, disrupting the heavy mist that had set in. It didn't do too much, but, it was a start.

"Can I uh...get some help? Please? With Pecha berries on top?"

a small whine came from the pinkette's lips as he, once again, stepped away from her attempts at affection. "well...you do remember that @mrtm87 is here, right? that's...pretty much half of the clan itself." a sheepish smile came to her lips as the thought of their...eccentric friend. she was ecstatic that he was here, of course. she held love for him like she did everyone else but...was hoenn 'ready' for him?

"of course," for once, a more serious tone entered the girl's voice as she gave a nod. bryony was her precious friend, and perhaps just a bit too soft for the world at times. while she'd been happy that the girl had opted to come with her to her journey to hoenn, it was a bit worrying, with her health and all. if something happened to her here...she shook her head. she'd make sure she was safe. it was a promise she'd make to both herself, and to mateo.

"when have i ever let you down? aside from the dumb stuff i- we did as kids. that doesn't count!" she giggled, waving a hand. she'd done many questionable things, to him especially, when they were younger. some of which she almost felt the need to apologize for because geez she was an unruly child.

"i promise, i'll keep her safe! you won't even hear a single sneeze from her, not on my watch! on a dragon's honor!" she pledged to him with a cheeky grin. "although....speaking of promises..." her eyes narrowed ever so slightly as her stare flickered upwards to the dragon master with a surprisingly unreadable expression.

of course, nero didn't listen to her. from the shadows, a taller form lumbered over the baby dragon, its snout creasing into a fine snarl, embers drooling from its teeth.

oh. this wasn't good.

before nero could make things worse, the pinkette quickly tottered over, grasping his heavy body by his front legs, if just to drag him backwards. "uh, sorry for bothering you! do you happen to know kyle lopez , by the way?"

the dog just continued to glower at her.

"Right, right - uh...sorry? go back to doing your dog things then, i'll send kyle your regards!" of course, she truly believed that kyle knew about every dog within this region. he did have a whole horde of them, after all.

nero continued to snarl at the houndoom, his voice, and insults, muffled by his trainer covering his trembling lips as she dragged him away with little effort.

"behave." the pinkette scolded after they were far away enough from the foul tempered dog. the deino only huffed, idly kicking at a rock on the ground. "challenging everything that moves to a fight isn't the only way to grow big and strong, you know? one day, you'll be as strong as mateo's dragonite - i know you will! we just have to take it one step at a time, okay? and you have to let me help you-" before she could continue, the deino had scoffed and stomped off.

noelle only sighed.

"Are you sure this isn't a date?" Noelle asked, again, for the umpteenth time, voice hopeful. wearing a two-piece bathing suit and longing on the massive shell of her blastoise as they idly floated about, this 'dragon finding' session had been pretty...dull. the waters were still, and the sky was clear. it was a pretty uneventful day.

well, aside from the fact that she got the opportunity to hang out with mateo - it reminded her of old times, really. the days when they were younger, where she'd drag him away from whatever he was doing to hang out with her. the adventures they went on, to, as they got older, just simply longing around chatting about nothing. well, usually, she was the one talking more often than not but...ah. it brought back incredibly fond memories for her.

before long, she realized she'd been staring at the darker haired man with a rather affectionate look.

with a soft sigh, she rested back onto argos' shell with a wide, content smile. "....yep, pretty sure this is a date~!"

Fishing was so boring. And so, Noelle fell asleep, ignoring the tugging on her fishing rod several times, and likely missing rare opportunities. After about an hour or two, she roused herself awake with an inhuman groan and gurgle, accidentally yanking her rod from the pool as she rolled over to get comfortable again.

Afterwards, she fell asleep once more.

Her arms crossed over her chest, a stubborn look settling onto her face. why was he so intent on them going home? ugh, why was he so....frustratingly dense? Wasn't it supposed to be super romantic when a girl traveled over hundreds of miles to be with them? thankfully, she was far more stubborn and thick-skinned than most. she wanted something...and dammit, she wasn't about to give up or get discouraged now. mateo had always been very...dull in the aspect of love, or at least it seemed that way to her. and so, she brushed off his shouts with a little huff. "nope! i'm here to stay! don't worry about my duty, i've got it handled!" that was a...sticky situation that she'd rather not talk about.

"sounds exciting!" she brushed off the notion of danger with a wave of her hand, as her teeth bared into a challenging grin. "maybe this region just needs a bit more 'dragon power' to whip it back into shape?" her suggestion was optimistic, perhaps almost annoyingly idealistic considering all the tragedies hoenn had faced. but, there wasn't a lick of fear on the pinkette's face at the idea of villains lurking at every corner. nothing could sway or scare her from being here, right now - and...well, with him.

....especially not when he said stuff like that.

her eyes widened a bit, a small reddish tint coming to her cheeks as the woman drew in a sharp breath. unable to stop a wide smile from spreading across her lips, she leaned closer, gently prodding his cheek with a finger. "so you actually want me here then? are you actually concerned about me, 'teo? about my safety? ...so...you do care!" she couldn't help but happily giggle as she shuffled closer towards him, trying to steal a hug from the man once more as her arms outstretched a bit. she would get her hug eventually, dammit.
