while they did manage to break through the walls, more obstacles hinder their path. it wasn't a physical wall this time, so wolfgang is at least thankful that they can go further in without risking a cave in from their pokemon's moves.

he takes out his flashlight alongside a pokeball. the rotom gets out of it and immediately possesses the first electronic it sees on wolfgang's hands.

the flashlight's appearance doesn't change much with the possession, but the amount of light it gives off upgrades it too a flood light. it manages to light up the darkness as the rotom discharges its electricity to increase output.

"ooh, avery... that's a nice name! wasn't that hard, wasn't it?"

the riolu remains behind to watch over the castform, not because it's been ordered to, but because it's curious. wolfgang himself isn't interested since he can just blame her if it does try to escape. thankfully, it doesn't.

"so until they give us the signal that everything's fine and all, we're gonna be staying here, talking about our feelings and such."

the new weather detection machine was new technology that the members of the rangers present weren't particularly used to. it would probably take them a while to figure things out, though wolfgang was pretty sure that they just need to push a few buttons. he's not going to teach them though.

he returns to avery, finding her the object of his amusement at the moment. the stuttering did catch his attention, and it's going to be further exploited by him.

"is that fine, avery? i'm not coming off as offensive, right?"

pryde... that was a name that he hasn't heard for a long time. he can't really attach a good memory to the parent, but the same sentiment can't really be given to the son.

"yeah, i knew you looked familiar!" he chuckles. "i work here now." he leans forward to the counter closer to razz. "the fixing and tinkering shit don't give me as much income here as it did before, so ya gotta do what ya gotta do."

rocket's reformation has been outside of his scope of news. he's been living peacefully for the past year or so after its fall, albeit in parole. wolfgang chooses not to disclose it just yet.

he throws himself away and gets back to his normal posture, placing the glass on the table before drying his hands on a towel behind the counter.

"if ya need some engineering done, just go to me. i gotchu!" the bright expression turns to curiosity as he raises a brow at him. "what are you in littleroot for? i didn't see you around here before."

perhaps a job or something, he guesses.

everyone did their introductions, so wolfgang only found it appropriate that he probably should as well. "wolfgang volkov," he tells them, a name that would maybe ring a bell for older members of rocket of the kanto days.

his head turns to the only woman in their group, body still facing towards the objective. "if someone starts a conversation i can actually participate in, then maybe there would be more talking from me."

he's not going to indulge in philosophical talk about rhythm and lamenting on things. there's just enough beating around the bush that he can handle, and anything that doesn't relate to anything tangible just wasn't easy enough for him to talk about.

"dazzling gleam," he orders the ninetales again.

the pokemon repeats the move again. flash effects and all, it does manage to finally do its job and crack open the wall for them to move onwards and continue on their trip.

casually cleaning a glass in the most cliched manner of a bartender, wolfgang idly watches a television screen on the corner of the room. his mind is numbed by the ambient noise of the place, briefly shifting his eyes at the entrance when someone enters the facility.

"oi, kid. i need your id."

no one ever enters the pubs of the town besides the residents of littleroot with exceptions of visiting friends, family members and an occassional lost traveler. it required wolfgang to do a double take when he does not recognize the person as a usual face in town, but recognizable enough that his paranoid self casually acknowledged his presence.

older members of rocket would easily know who he was. an impulsive slam of the glass on the counter gets the attention of the other regulars, had his loud voice not have done it. "wait, fuck! i know you!" he shouts from the other side of the room from the entrance.

a smile forms on the otherwise miserable face.

"give me a name! i forgot!"

he recalls the ninetales in favor of another pokemon. with movements that directly convey his impatience, the switch comes as snappy and the chandelure replaces the ice-type's position in the field.

the greeting gets wolfgang to turn his head swiftly. "huh?!" only then does he get a clear visual on the people he's with. "good eve," he answers back with a grunt before turning back, his voice forcibly hushed as if make sure the aggression of his usual tone is muted.

the sounds of pokemon beyond the wall doesn't excite wolfgang, and if anything, it worries him. he hopes at least one of the people in his group knew their way with pokemon battles should push come to shove with the looming threat of a wild pokemon attack.

"energy ball," he orders his chandelure.

the ghost-type conjures a ball of energy in front of it before it blasts the wall with it, cracking the wall's defenses with an initial blow to make it easier for the follow up attacks to break through.

wolfgang goes into the cave first, a regional variant of a ninetales following him as they go in. there's nothing much to look at on first glance, but he was promised that there would be treasure in.

he'd file a complaint about this if his expectations weren't met.

he looks at the ninetales, noticing that the darkness of the caverns overwhelming the pitiful lights that come with the explorer kit's helmet. there were stronger flashlights to be used, he supposed, but he got the bad end of the bargain when he got to a spat with the person handing out the kits.

"dazzling gleam," he orders the ninetales.

it manages to light up the room quite nicely, revealing the cracks for the other members of this group to actually dig on.

there's a frown when he doesn't get an answer from her. he looks down at her from his position, staring daggers as if what she did was a major offence.

"i what?" he repeats, voice stern and solid.

a heavy sigh breaks the seriousness as he turns and gets back to the mechanism the castform should go to. he affixes the castform to where it should go, nudging it back multiple times to stay in place when it tries to float away.

he resigns himself eventually when it finally takes the memo, making a not to remind the rangers of this outpost to actually train the newly acquired castform of its job.

as soon as he's done, he gets back to his previous position, one where he overlooks avery.

"just spit somethin' out! ugh. littleroot's boring as it is. the one time this place gets outside help, we get one that can't even hold a conversation." he sits on the edge of the roof, one leg raised to rest his head on his palm on it. "what's your name?" he asks.

he squats down and attempts to reach for the castform, but when his arms don't reach the pokeball, he finally gets on his knees and take it from her hands. wolfgang hands it to his riolu before he gets back up.

"that's dumb," he points out. "ya think i'm not that dumb to slip and fall from here?"

he has definitely fallen down from a roof once or twice, but he always has an excuse for those. if it does happen now, he supposed he already has something ready.

wolfgang releases the castform from its pokeball and proceeds to hold it with both of his hands. he examines it briefly before he turns his attention back to avery.

"i can't tell if untrained castforms are really good for a backwater outpost like route 101's. whaddya think, missy?"

wolfgang sits on the roof of one of the farflung ranger outposts of the region. nestled in the humble corners of route 101, the building receives little attention compared to others of the region. wolfgang, himself, is one of the only people that probably fixes problems in the said outpost.

with a wrench at hand, he tightens the segments holding a tower up. previous incidents, alongside wear and tear, had it require repairs, although a new demand of a better weather forecast equipment needs wolfgang to install something on the outpost for it.

he drops the tool haphazardly, only to be caught by his riolu on the roof with him. wiping the sweat off of his forehead, he looks down at the roof he's standing on and stomps. "when's the fucking shipment coming? i don't got all day!" he complains to the rangers inside.

he does though.

a castform was the last thing they needed for this, shipped directly from the ranger hq itself. someone was supposed to have it, but apparently, the ones responsible for the outpost decided to order it the after they called for him instead of beforehand. patience just wasn't his style.

THE POACHYENAS are an infamous group of delinquents in hoenn. they thieve pokemon whenever they can, terrorizing the countryside of hoenn due to with their loud music. loud bikes. loud dogs.[break][break]

most of the crimes they commit are petty crimes, although their sheer number, stubbornness and notoriety makes them a force to reckon with. they are free spirits, chaotic souls, and wild pack animals among other things. the only force capable of reeling them back is their boss.[break][break]

their presence in the region has weakened following wolfgang volkov 's arrest in the hands of the league. their resurgence comes after his release for earning a pardon for voluntarily surrendering.[break][break]

outside of the public's opinion, the gang tight knit group of outcasts, mostly comprised of orphans, ex-convicts and runaway children without homes. their hideout changes from time to time, and are usually in the form of a secret base.[break][break]

wolfgang volkov assumes the parental role and tries his best to look after his members. the wayward children, however, do their best to help, usually in the only way they know how to -- steal.[break][break]

the only REQUIREMENT to join the gang is to at least one of either POOCHYENA or MIGHTYENA. the group is very strict with this requirement for no good reason besides fitting the theme of the group.[break][break]

in character, recruitment is done through recommendation. the members are easily recognizable through their actions and their pokemon of choice, and the similar tragic backstories each member has make it easy for them to sympathize and get an easy invitation from them.[break][break]

i'm basically just looking for numbers, with a vibe similar to team skull from the games. let me be a dad to all these stupid children please.[break][break]
