So…

It was partially her fault she had so many Fire-types and not enough Water-types.

Rather than commiserate about the lack of this imbalance, she decided to get a little creative with this shit, and offered to take Josh and the kids along with her out to Sootopolis. Apparently there were some people who were considering the City in the Crater an alternative to going to Slateport Beach, and besides the place was hard enough to get to as it was.

What was the fastest way to get there? By Teleporting, of course!

She knew that there was some motion sickness involved after rematerializing the first time from a Teleport—she hoped the kids were alright after that sudden, unexpected disappearing from Lavaridge and reappearing all the way out in Eastern Hoenn.

“So… thankfully it’s not that crowded. What do you think?” she gestured at the crater lake. “Good idea? Not so crowded, too,” she added a few moments later.

Sure, there was no Seashore House where they could get drinks from, but hopefully they'd packed enough and could make a picnic out of the thing.

Where was she while the shit had hit the fan?

The two had reappeared behind a rather deserted corner, and she then held up her fingers to her lips again just in case they came across some late dunderheads who wanted in on the fun.

And there was one whose back was turned to her, before she reached into her… tankini’s pockets… and pulled out her gloves.

Yes, call her insane for traveling with the weapons of her trade even on a cruise ship but it never hurt to be prepared, right? Anywho…

She then slowly approached the pirate who was busy cackling at the spectacle before aiming a well-practiced whack on the back of his neck.

The pirate fell like a sack of potatoes right after that. The Gardevoir chuckled, before floating the pirate away with her latent powers as she cleared a path towards the biggest commotion, knocking out several more pirates along the way with some combination of luck and stealth.

Of course, she wasn’t prepared to see what the fuck was happening up front.

“Come on, you shitheads, get out of my sight, what the hell’s going on,” she muttered softly as she knocked out yet another distracted pirate, floated away by her Gardevoir a few moments later as they approached the center of the source of noise.

Thankfully, the Braviary was able to herd the kids away from the Mareanie—but unfortunately this left her without a Mareanie to call her own. Sighing in disappointment, she then wondered where the hell her husband was…

…only to see him regally fuck up the fire dancing routine!

Now, she knew she couldn’t laugh at what had happened, but this was the one time she allowed herself a snicker, and a snort as she watched the flame braziers fly around too wildly.

Now I feel bad for him! she thought as she spotted the Braviary that now had both their kids on his back flying around.

“Sora, keep the kids up there, but for the love of Arceus please don’t drop them,” she said in her Braviary’s direction, who gave an acknowledging squawk before hovering above their heads just far enough.

She then proceeded to make her way over to Josh before calling out to him, “Now, I know you wanted to show off, but—I know you feel rather bad. Would you humor me and my request, can I buy you a drink?” while waiting for him to answer.

The next thing she saw was…

Wait, what the heck was that?

Izumi had to blink a few times, she didn’t know what it was—before quickly taking out her phone and snapping a few pictures of it before sending them to Josh Dragomir with the caption, ‘honey, do you know what the heck this is?’ before giving it another wide berth.

Maybe she should’ve gone with the Horsea from earlier… now there was some regret on her features.

It was a shame that the Horsea line wasn’t one of those that could mega evolve, which was a big disappointment to say the least.

So what would she be encountering next? She had no idea.

The next thing she spotted after catching the strange penguin was…

Something that was unfortunately the butt of so many jokes across the regions. A Tentacool. All because of the tentacles implication…

Chuckling softly to herself, she knew that this wasn’t the one she was looking for, even as it waved its two appendages angrily her way. “Nope, no way, I am not going to get tangled in that shit,” she muttered to herself as she gave the dual-type the widest of berths she could manage.

It was hilarious, too, she’d even come up with several code names for the damned thing—one of which involved a certain eldritch horror.

And she was pretty sure said eldritch horror wouldn’t want to be compared to that shit.

Why did she have the lyrics for ‘Bad Romance’ stuck in her head? Specifically around the part where it went, ‘walk, walk, fashion baby, work it, move that bitch crazy’ and it driving her nuts.

She didn’t know why, she didn’t know how, all she was certain of was that if she didn’t get this ear worm out of her head soon, she might very well end up singing this in the shower… right where the kids can hear!

I don’t want to give them the awkward explanation… she thought in her head as she… wait a second, why did it look like there was a bunch of Pokémon doing the catwalk down the main streets of Fortree?

What the absolute hell.

Either way, it was go time. Time to see if she could get one for herself as she wound up and pitched the empty Pokéball like a baseball pitcher would.

Now that the kids were sufficiently distracted, Izumi was over at the information sheet reading up on what was behind it. Her brow furrowed for a few moments before she let out a sigh.

“That’s all wrong,” she muttered to herself before stealing a glance over where Josh was, keeping an eye on the kids. She was going to stay away for a little bit more to let him cool down from what had happened earlier.

Of course, the water tunnel they were in had Lyra wide-eyed as she continued to watch the Water-types swimming above them in silent wonder.

“I want that one! No, wait, that one!” she shrieked excitedly, poking her brother as she watched a Mantine and a Gorebyss swim up far above their heads. “What about you? Which one d’you like?” she asked her brother.

Izumi caught on the little action before she’d left to get some food, and an equally wry smile flashed across her face for a few moments before she distracted herself at the buffet table.

Wondering if she’d be able to balance as much food as she could bring back to where they were seated, enjoying the free time they had—the entire scene changed when several ruffians burst through from below decks. She blinked, much like a deer caught in headlights the moment they started talking.

She heard the screaming, the terrified outcries of the other passengers before she saw a familiar light and a very familiar Charizard had transformed from its normal coloration into a darker hue.

“Oh, boy,” she muttered as she slowly put the food platters down and searched around for her Pokéballs… eventually finding one and sending out her Gardevoir, Momiji. Hoping that she wasn’t going to be spotted by the bunch of dunderheads, she raised a finger to her lips before the Gardevoir held out its arm and they both disappeared in a Teleport.

And everyone thought Izumi was useless…

Not too far from where she was, Izumi caught sight of a Growlithe and a smile pulled at her lips. She knew how terribly Josh missed Buddy, his overly friendly Arcanine, and therefore let him capture the Growlithe.

On her end, there was a Koffing that was floating around. However, she knew that her own Pokémon were starting to get tired, and therefore left the Koffing alone, instead deciding to distract Josh after he’d caught the Growlithe.

Damn it, I really need something that has a Water-move… maybe Hydro Pump is a good idea to get, because this place is so damned-ass hot! she thought as she decided to sneak up behind Josh and poke him in the sides ina surprise tickle attack!

The first thing Izumi encountered was a… wait, what the heck was that? Blinking, she saw that the strange penguin Pokémon waddling around on what appeared to be a frozen… wait, frozen?

She had to rub her eyes and take another look because how in the fresh hell did a frozen part of whatever the Eiscue was skidding on exist in a tropical region? Either way, she bowled out a Pokéball and popped out the Cyndaquil—soon, she’d be reunited with her Typhlosion, Arashi.

For now this had to do.

“Rollout, now!” she began, and the Cyndaquill curled itself up before bowling right at the Eiscue. A little screeching noise came from the strange Ice-type, before it attempted to retaliate with an Icicle Crash attack. Blinking at the Icicle Crash, the Cyndaquil crashed into the first obstacle, but righted his course and went straight for the Eiscue and slammed into it several more times.

Two, three—four! One short of five! She thought as the Cyndaquil unfurled itself after the fourth attempt before taking aim and firing a—“Nice one, Flamethrower!” she cheered on as the strong blast of flames licked at and surrounded the Eiscue.

Screeching, the Ice-type tried to hide in a sudden blast of Mist, but a second Flamethrower pierced the fog and knocking the Eiscue off its feet.

The Safari Ball was quick to fly and catch the Ice-type.

The first thing Izumi had spotted was a…

“Aww, how cute!” she gushed at the sight of the Horsea meandering in the shallow surf. Sadly, it wasn’t the one she was looking for but damn it the Horsea looked so innocent and lost!

Damn it, I’m tempted! She thought, although her brow was furrowed as she watched the Horsea floundering in the shallows. Sighing, she shook her head and moved on.

Would something else catch her eye?

And of course Lyra chased after her brother, sticking her face against the glass, in an attempt to get a closer look at the Water-type Pokémon that were swimming lazily by behind the glass. It was a mess of colors and shapes, most of which she didn’t comprehend all that much yet.

So this is what she had to say about the entire thing.

“Ooh, pretty!” she exclaimed, pointing at a Horsea that sailed past the glass. “That looks nice!” she added a few moments later.

Izumi, on the other hand, didn’t want to be caught staring at Josh a little too often, so she turned her attention to some of the other exhibits that were scattered here and there. Spotting something behind a laminated piece of plastic, she went up to it and read the text on it.
