The car was soaking wet, torn, and crushed, so clearly it was Bragi's time to shine. [break][break]

Jotun lumbered away from the car as Bragi's music only got louder and louder, clumsy but full of spirit. Overdrive crackled out in a booming sound, filling the air with a stagnant smoke. [break] [break]

A novel idea. Her, contacting another human on a phone for more reasons than a mission. Never thought she'd see the day. [break][break]

Taking a moment to put in her number, Kaida nodded at Alexei's question, "I don't want him to think I'm a ghost and attack. Ghost-types play pranks every now and then...he needs to know I'm serious, because this is weird." Now was that an understatement. [break][break]

"If you know him, can you let me know where he is? I don't want to strain Muspel by getting lost."

Kaida didn't call Jotun back, not just yet. Even as Superpower took its toll, she knew he was still strong enough to do some damage and, more importantly, set up for a smaller, yet still dangerous Pokemon. As if sensing her intent, Jotun tossed himself like a great boulder, falling through the air to land on his poor, motionless victim with an Aqua Tail. [break][break]

As chaos and metal screeching went on, Kaida released Bragi, who seemed just at home in a rabid crowd. With a smile on Kaida's end, Bragi strumed a Shift Gear and Charged. This was gonna be great! [break][break]

If this was all in the name of fun, Jotun would want to join, Kaida knew. Thus, even as the acid and psychic power did it's work, Kaida decided some raw power was needed to qualify for the prize. [break][break]

The gator released let out a cackling growl, a laugh, Kaida knew, Jotun wasn't exactly a mature Pokemon, but the crowd still drew away from the skipping and jumping giant. He needed no prompting, he simply understood that the car was something to chew on. His muscles steamed a dreadful red as he wobbled forward, grabbed an uninjured part of the car, and promptly chewed on it with jaws fueled by Superpower. [break][break]

"Maybe. I don't know who bothered with me, though." Maybe those days in front of the shrine finally paid off, she didn't know whether it was the bowing or the company her Pokemon provided, she didn't even know what type of divine providence it was, but she was grateful. Whatever it was that let her stay just a little longer, she had to be grateful. Just how was she even supposed to repay that kind of favor? [break][break]

"No. I don't know how to contact her...she's a journalist, I'll find her...I think a phone call from me would scare her." A phone call from a dead person? Showing up in person was the best bet to be believed. Given the opportunity, though, she took the card Alexei offered. Memorizing it would have to be necessary, she didn't trust herself to keep the card on her person. "Thank you...just, let me-" She looked around and, if not finding a way to mark down her own number, would ask for the means to do so. It was better they were both able to contact each other, she thought. [break][break]

Today didn't go the way she had wanted, but she had an idea of everything. She had died, her Pokemon were scared because they couldn't believe she was alive again (mental wounds were going to take longer to heal), and Muspel would have to get training for flying from experience. She had to talk her leader, she had to give information, get information. "I'm going to need to talk to the Head Ranger...they need to know I'm alive."

Kaida was no stranger to stories. Legends. Fairy Tales. Nothing concrete, and nothing historical. With all the transformations, all the magic, all the mystical connections, there was never a resurrection quite like this, or even a tree like this. She was lost, plain and simple. [break][break]

"It sounds like it came out of nowhere or grew suddenly. Someone would have gotten to the tree before...but we didn't see it till now, and they put a building around it." She shook her head as she spat the last words. Such a pointless, pointless thing to do. It was a wonder it didn't lash out beforehand. [break][break]

"We're just guessing now." She grumbled, aware they were reaching the end of their rope, they couldn't know anymore than they did. "Tch, all this isn't even what I came to talk to you about." How this had become a conversation about her death, a tree beyond even legends, she didn't know, but she had even more reason to finish what she came to do. "I came to thank you, even if I was ki-died...you did save me, who knows? I might have stayed dead if you and Selena didn't grab me." Her head was bowed, her words sincere and clear. As far as she was concerned, her life was still saved.

"We'll eat anything, really." Kaida explained, coming to a conclusion as she spoke, "But if we want meat, we'll catch it ourselves...is there anything sweet? But not too much." An indulgence, nothing more, but after everything, she deserved it. She just had to be careful not to eat too much, she couldn't get herself sick if she was going to be flying on a Charizard. A great motivator to hold herself back. [break][break]

As if she had sensed the change in conversation, Kaida heard a thump at the door, Muspel, happily trying to barge in. If allowed to, Kaida would let her in with a whispered, "Be careful." Either way, her other Pokemon were smaller creatures so with a, "If you don't mind...we only need a little." She released Hema, Hel, and Freya, who all stayed reliably near. She thought they twitched at shadows a little, but they seemed to be healing. [break][break]

"Sorry, I haven't gotten a chance to get anybody new except for Muspel here...they're still a little confused about me."

"I'll try to see anything about the tree when I can too." Yes, it was destroyed, but some hopeful part of herself thought that there was little chance that the League didn't have some information on hand, or at least was gathering some information. They couldn't have lost that thoroughly. Didn't Illeana disappear? She wondered if she got anywhere to the bottom. [break][break]

And then Lars mentioned food, and all her put together politeness fell in the wake of perhaps the one vice that she never could shake. "You have food?" If her ears could perk like a hound's, they would have, "I...would like that food, um, please." It was offered to her, and thus she accepted. You didn't have to be that polite regarding an offer, did you? Whether the food was offered here or for the road, didn't matter. She just wanted it.

Perhaps the reason this challenge was created was to clear the streets and junkyard of cars in the only way that was logical, Pokemon! [break][break]

Either way, the prize was enticing enough, and the challenge creator's didn't seem to care who was doing the challenge, so here she was. At most, this would take 30 minutes, she thought. Regardless of who her partner was, Kaida extended her arm, Ormr at the end, "Destroy it." On her words, Ormr assessed his prey. Metallic and hard, he didn't want to bite it. The only logical attack was his venom, and a blast of acid built up in his throat until he spat the steaming Acid Spray at the car. [break][break]

Something from her past, venomous feelings started to surface. She thought she could interact with others easily enough, but anybody could read the distance she held with most people. Even now she felt closer to her allies, the distance only grew. With Pokemon, she would know whether they were going to hurt her, they didn't weave a web through words until she didn't know how to escape. Only humans, she supposed. [break][break]

"I won't let them catch me." She promised, adding a realistic condition in her head, not without good reason. She indicated outside, where Muspel continued to wait, "My family comes with me, always. They won't let me make a stupid mistake, I trust them, I'm their leader, and we make a habit to not being caught by predators." Politely, properly, she bowed, putting on the properness like it was the biggest form of respect, "Tomorrow. Later. Later after that. You will hear from me again."

For Kaida, she saw a young Pokemon in Iris's Mudkip. Still learning exactly what Iris wanted in it, and predictably, was clumsy, much like how a toddler didn't realize how it was supposed to walk yet. They'd improve, Pokemon didn't take long to understand everything, and Kaida thought it was easy for a human to improve next to a Pokemon. Hopefully, that was the case here. Kaida could only hope. Her words could do nothing. [break][break]

"Enjoy?" Surprise dripped from Kaida's lips, her eyes widening. Yes, she supposed she did enjoy this work but..."I didn't think about enjoyment, coming to this job...it's just, there was no way for me to do what I want any way else. Not a trainer, not a policewoman, nothing. None would let me focus on Pokemon like this, it was just the way I needed to go."

The Pokemon had started training for reasons Bragi still wasn't sure about in entirety. She could hear a brawl going on the forest, probably Jotun or Hel challenged someone for training. [break][break]

Bragi thought her dexterity was better now, her fingers could control Overdrive far better than she remembered before...and it was all thanks to her new little device! Even now, a cross up was nearly simple for previously clumsy fingers. [break][break]

Still...hunting called, they needed to eat, and Bragi needed training.

Kaida blinked as Iris stated her own difficulty with talking, sighing out after a few seconds, "Me too." It was a small admission, but one that she didn't mind speaking of. It wasn't like the ongoing battle was something to pay attention to. The Pokemon had it handled, and it seemed their targets weren't expecting a fight like this in the first place. [break][break]

Then a new question came out of thin air. Kaida stayed silent for a few seconds, not out of defensiveness, but because in the moment, she couldn't remember. "A...few years now, I think." She shrugged, "I didn't really pay attention to how long I've done things, just that I've been here a while." She supposed if Iris was asking the question, there must be a reason and, her own irritation winding down, asked back, "Why ask? Curious about something?"

Kaida didn't go to cities often unless it was necessary. Now, making an effort to keep moving, she was making roundabout travel everywhere. All for the sake of avoiding to say something that might get her in trouble. She doubted it could go on forever, but she wanted to at least get an idea of what she was even going to do...probably hunt for whatever killed her, there was surely more to killing the tree than one incident. Still, she'd need allies and information and, in all honesty, she wanted to try and last until an incident called her attention...then she could prove both her worth and lack of trouble...maybe. [break][break]

Muspel rested on the ground nearby, having quite the endurance but needing the occasional rest. Kaida didn't know what possessed her to do so, but she released Glima, hoping the amphibian would burn energy in a helpful manner. [break][break]
