It would be naive to assume Rex was really here to train. He didn't do much that was diligent, and that included things like training. No, he threw open the door to the training room because he wanted to watch One kill things that he dislike...in this case, training dummies. Wonder if it would be bad if he wrote their "leader's" name on it...what was his name? [break][break]

Instead, he froze at the door, only pushed inwards by the impatient snout of One. The fossil smelled the stink of fear coming off Rex all day, something was bothering the man in a way that not even the frightning presence of it could curb. Irritation burned in all its impatient movements, shoving Rex aside as it looked for something it was allowed to disturb. [break][break]

Normally, he wouldn't allow One such freedom to push him around, but today was different. He bounced on his feet, moving on his toes like he was fleeing...the man was an anxious little boy and his movements gave him away. He gaped briefly at the severely ugly scars, wondering briefly if he missed some kind of assassination attempt, but his mind could focus enough to keep on the subject that was worrying him. "Hey, hey! Gav!" He chirped, trotting over, seeking some form of familiarity, "Um, you're a kinda boss too, right? Er, c-congrats..." There was no way he was keeping his mouth shut about his worries though, blurting them out in a fury, "I am not giving a congrats to the others, though." He spit, "Who's the "leader"? Never even heard of the guy!...what'd He give ya?" His anger quickly dissipated into a curiosity, both wondering where they got it, and where their terrible "leader" had gotten the authority to give it like that...who died and made him "leader", the boss? Behind him, One lashed and growled, wondering what could be so important that Rex wasn't giving it permission to do anything.

Rex is quaking by the time the Shadow Lugia came out. He aches to send out his trusty One for a feeling of safety, but holds his hand firmly by his side. Their new son of a bitch leader here might take that as a threat, he could just imagine being killed over that stupid of a misunderstanding. [break][break]

He resists the urge to curl his lip, not invested enough in thinking to clarify why he decided to hate this new leader, but he kinda does. He could stand being in this underwater hell. Could stand seeing those horrifying shadow monsters (he still trusted One to protect him from those). Somehow this made him grumble. Boss better not be dying...I don't like this guy. [break][break]

Still, they were gonna be up to something, right? Swallowing the shivers that had consumed him, Rex piped up as Gavin asked about their next move. His voice was loud, obnoxious, and he hoped "leader" knew that he'd just be dealing with more of the same with his type, of which Rocket was likely flooded with, "And when are we gonna go smack down the League, like seriously!?" All these horrifying monstrosities, it couldn't be that they were gonna sit around any longer? Surely not! He was ready to graduate from being the bum if Hoenn to putting his feet on Hoenn, bring out the tributes for Rocket!

"Oh, do ya?" Rex chirped, not exactly unbelieving. It wasn't like Abner didn't look the part, so he didn't have any sarcasm in his tone, just false interest. [break][break]

Luckily for Abner, Rex already was spotting their destination, "Yeah, yeah, I'm getting there. Hope ya enjoyed the damn ride man, keep the teleported on ya next time, yeah?" He didn't like associating with other Rockets for no reason, so the approaching end of his ride was a relief for him too.

Rex had a brief thought to have One do that transformation thing to get them to their destination faster, what was it called again? Evolving mega? Mega evolve? Whatever. It was a thought. Until Abner kept talking. He couldn't let that one slide, but not for reasons one might think. [break][break]

"Hey, people love the young look. Think I'm "cute" and shit." He spat down, a smirk crossing his face as he continued, "I mean, what else purrs that people like? Cats. They love those jerks, why shouldn't I jump on that popularity?" Not thinking much, he looked down at One and decided the ancient beast deserved a compliment, "I mean, I like growlers, they're tough like my buddy here. They just don't know how to look cute like me."

What the actual hell? Rex didnt imagine that he was considered, well, intelligent, and even he wondered what kind of gibberish was coming out of this man's mouth, finally settling on a set of spouted words, "You can teleport and we're carrying your ass." On the flying Pokemon's back, Rex thought of tapping its side and making the ride more bumpy than it should...he didn't, he wasn't stupid enough to do that to Abner. [break][break]

And then, growling. "What the flying f-" He looked over down One's side, "What's that noise!? Am I carrying a were-Mightyena!? What? What!?" The way he talked, it was like he thought this was all a personal conspiracy to ruin his day.

Rex clammed up just long enough for him to whistle and get One in the air, then, the moment he was sure nobody on the ground could hear them, "Call me a "taxi boy" one more time and I'll make One drop ya." He growled, One nodding as if to make his point, "I gotta eat too." And drink and drink and drink. [break][break]

"Rather...what the hell are you doing? Don't everybody got something to transport them!?" He pointed pointingly at One, making his point, "What kind 'a royal fuck up happened so that you got here, and now need a freakin' taxi!?" From what little Rex learned of staying on the down low, people didn't switch shit up for no reason. His down low? Be a bum, weasel his way into easy jobs, steal. Nobody saw anything but a punk. Abner, what was he doing here, and with no way back but a stupid taxi!?

One thing about Rocket, you did have to have an honest job, or at least a way to make money. Fortunately, Rex found ways to make money...this one was actually honest, so even better! Flying long distances in terrible weather tended to sicken Charizard and Corvknights, so he occasionally weaseled his way into a paying job. [break][break]

There was only one problem. It was tedious as hell. Unless a Pokemon got territorial and attacked, One and him had nothing to do except fly like a Wingull. Straight. Boring. Nothing happened. [break][break]

One landed nearby, Rex grumbling under his breath as he waited for his next lucky passenger...and there Abner was. "Oh, what the hell." He drawled, quickly casting his gaze away and waving the man forward. At least while on the ground, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to look like they knew each other, right? "Come on in, man, I'm in a hurry." The irritation in his voice wasn't falsified, though.

Please don't tell him that they were gonna get shut down just because they were busy mothering someone who wasn't even hurt that badly. [break][break]

He waited the barely appropriate amount of time Marcel took to worry about the poor smacked opponent, then instantly piped up, having what even less classy people would call "a big brain moment". Nobody hovering over them, so it was ok, now wasn't it? "Well, ok, what about we just get this thing started again?" He directed towards Abner, no concern visible about the man being carried away. Marcel just said they'd have to not be in the infirmary, not that they had to stop. Exact words were important, and if he didn't want to say to stop out loud, they received no order to stop, right? His words were just loud enough for the crowd and Abner to hear, Rex bouncing in place like an excited child, even with the likelihood he'd end up exactly like the man on the bench. Yes, Rex was a little mad, and absolutely an enabler.

Maybe whoever showed up for the fight were crazy, all of them were, really. Maybe the heat had gotten to their brains and made them go wild. Midsummer madness...wasn't that a fairy thing? Did it matter? Smelling the iron in the air, and pushing forward to get a closer look at the injuries. Rex was certainly mad. [break][break]

For once, he didn't have his Pokemon by his side, this was fisticuffs, after all...though a Pokeball was strapped under his shirt. What? He wasn't stupid enough to get himself hurt without One nearby, if only to drag him away if things went wrong.

Maybe regularly, he would shrink away when Marcel showed up, he looked an important guy, but today wasn't that day. "What's the hold-up?" He echoed the growing impatience of the crowd, "You wanna watch or somethin'?" If he was so worried, maybe he could babysit them, make sure they didn't kill each other.

Rex wasn't much to think much, and he sure as hell wasn't thinking right now. Fun in the night. It was no different than accepting a cigarette just to whine about the taste, drinking himself under the table, or deciding today was the day he was going to swim and sunbathe. It was fun, all of it, so he wasn't going to stop. [break][break]

"Great, and I don't see anymore ghosts around so, we're done!" He snapped at Three, calling the little dino back before returning it, One returning to his side. [break][break]

"Time's wasting, let's go then!"

Perhaps the prehistoric monster was the perfect partner for Rex. Big, dopey, and mean enough to make that look like a slight dimness. Certainly, it was frightening, but stumbled backwards as the Luxio showed her claws. Immediately after, he sneered and started preening, only just managing to recover from his previous fright. Rex scoffed at River's words, shaking his head, but not out of chivalry or crap like that. "If only I was that lucky. One pretty face one day, then something new the other? Sounds like a dream." Well, honesty was a virtue, wasn't it? [break][break]

"Have to warn you, though, don't exactly got enough money to make it a "special night", but if you want to drink, I got you."

As the haunted air of the lighthouse lifted, One shook himself off, casting off the terrible feeling of dread that had permeated the air. Not those humans, but they seemed happy with each other, so he deigned to ignore it. Instead, he stompted over to the two smaller ones, checking even the Luxio over. Perhaps he respected another zapper like himself? [break][break]

"We'll go with you're a cool guy then." Rex concluded quickly, closing off any way he could possible mess this up when...a thought hit, and this sounded like a clever thing! [break][break]

He face practically glowed in his own self-satisfied glory, "So if you're playing a different role, why don't I jump on that bandwagon?" Combing back his own hair with a scoff, he grinned, "Why don't I buy you a drink some time?" Never thought he'd be the chaser, but come on, he was born to be the hunter. [break][break]

He could only hope his meager pocket change could buy more than cheap beer...
