Thea's gaze sweeps the already-clean classroom. She was quite fortunate to have been given a group of students who shared similar desire to keep their areas clean. There was, of course, young Jonathan, but the rest of the pupils were quick to pick up where he left off. [break][break]

That, or she was the type to unintentionally instill fear - which was entirely possible. Her stoicism and stiff posture could be considered threatening or unfriendly, even despite her smile. [break][break]

"Unless you've tracked mud in, I'm sure you won't do any harm."[break][break]

As she says this, however, her eyes glance down at his footwear, narrowing for only a moment as if suddenly she is concerned he might have tracked in dirt.[break][break]

She looks back to his face as he speaks, realization dawning on her face. It casts a glow in her eye, fortunately discarding the fleeting moment of embarrassment at his 'you have me for the whole afternoon, might as well put me to use' comment.[break][break]

"Actually - I could use your help in reaching something. One of my students tossed something behind one of the shelves. I'm afraid I cannot reach it myself. He's been sorely disappointed in me."

As Thea studies his face, searching his expression, and finding genuine surprise and friendliness, she smiles. Though she has no idea what exactly has caused such an expression to glow on his features, she's amused nonetheless.[break][break]

She turns away and back to the binder, reopening it in favor of properly tucking the pages away. It would be a shame if someone picked it up and the contents weren't securely fastened. All of her time spent organizing it would be for nothing.[break][break]

The rings click closed and she smooths her hand over the plastic cover as Lance speaks.[break][break]

"There isn't honestly much to clean. I'm too painfully organized, I'm afraid this might be a boring opportunity for you."[break][break]

He turns to face her and she catches his eye. The expression she bears is genuine surprise before it falls into amusement. Her lips twitch into a slight smile.[break][break]

"Honestly, no, they don't. I didn't think the League worried about the organizational and cleaning habits of their prestigious schools. It's curious, but I do appreciate their concern nonetheless."

It would not surprise her in the slightest to hear about his intellectual climb. While she was not aware of it and wasn't the type to investigate into matters of such importance, she could see that he was a smart person, both in mind and in wit. [break][break]

Another bite is carefully taken if only to hide the hint of colour in her cheeks as a result of his proposition. Thea watches him with an attempt at indifference, masking the surprise she feels at his forward request.[break][break]

"Well, no, I suppose it wouldn't be terrible. I would hate to vex you further."[break][break]

She washes away the tint to her cheeks with a slow sip of her drink.

Cut Your Dreams In Half

Although Thea and her crew of children under her supervision don't arrive in time to overhear the two men's bickering and cursing and arguing, Thea is ultimately... aware. While not suspicious in the sense that she suspected anything criminal out of the two, she was certainly quiet and observant. [break][break]

That and their eagerness was so over the top that it made her pause. But only for a moment, because the children have shirked their excitement for the Slowpoke to dote on the blonde's Glameow. [break][break]

"Gently, gently. Do you see how tense the Glameow is? Approach her slowly and with respect, unless you'd like her to express her discomfort with her claws."[break][break]

She says this with a firm tone but her face is nothing if not concerned and polite. Ultimately, the children creep forward to rub her tummy as they are invited to, and Thea turns to watch the pond or glance upon the two young men.[break][break]

"You can call me Thea, or Miss. Rhodes in front of the kids," she chuckles a bit, amused. "'My Lady' is a bit too formal."[break][break]

Should it have been in her character, Thea might have winked. Alas, she remains stiff and almost porcelain doll-like, offering the men a polite smile and nothing further. [break][break]

"If I am being honest, I am quite surprised to see any scientists out here at all. It is a welcome surprise, however, the students will benefit greatly from your expertise and teachings."

The moment she finishes her thought, Thea indulges in the savory treat in front of her. While she chews, she remains at full attention, hanging off of the man's every word - and his charming smile.[break][break]

"Hmm.." she ultimately chuckles, using a napkin to wipe away any chocolate marring her lips.[break][break]

"My time is never wasted in the company of intelligent people."[break][break]

In fact, she basks in his attention, quite honestly. Friendships and social relationships didn't often last with her - she was more reserved and willing to idle alone than in the company of others.

Thea chuckles softly as the book is transferred to her hands. Her other palm smooths over the cover, finding the worn bits.[break][break]

"Even teachers have more to learn."[break][break]

With a wink, the woman pulls away to study. There's a journal to her side and, from time to time, she continues to glance over at the incubator to check on it. Otherwise, the woman scribbles away at her notes whenever she might find something interesting in the book she's borrowed.[break][break]

And, when not otherwise preoccupied, she strokes the warm Espeon in her lap. She's smiling.

Thea nods thoughtfully, taking great care to muse over his words. She catches his smirk, the smugness behind his words. His confidence is nigh overwhelming and yet it doesn't intimidate or surprise her. She merely basks in whatever glow he gives off because that is what comes naturally to her.[break][break]

"Indeed, quite beautiful. I've not seen many since arriving here, but I've been told that Galarian Pokemon are quite popular in Hoenn as of late."[break][break]

It was honestly surprising to even herself that she did not possess a ghost-type native to her own region. Granted, the Pokemon she trained were from near and around Hulbury, but still.[break][break]

Thea's internal thoughts are disrupted, however, by Asher's more forward comment. Her eyebrows raise as he sets the slice of cheesecake before her. [break][break]

"An excuse to see me again? Do you imply that it's difficult to visit with me?"

Thea, too, straightens in her seat as the cheesecake arrives. She had decided against ordering anything else - more than happy to indulge in her sweet tooth. [break][break]

Her attention falls on the way he cuts her a slice, so simple and yet she doesn't look away. There's a charming magnetism the man gives off and shes susceptible to it without even realizing.[break][break]

"It's sobering, though. To use the archaic methods."[break][break]

She exhales softly as if lost in thought.[break][break]

"Corviknight are brave Pokemon, willing to fly through anything because they're strong enough to. I have to admit, I wouldn't choose any other Pokemon to fly me anywhere."[break][break]

It's abundantly clear, then, how proud Thea is of her home even despite their restrictions.

"Hmm.."[break][break]

Thea sets her glass down, fingers drawing the sweat from the cup and leaving streaks. She muses over his comment, genuinely lost in thought. She had never really done a lot of travelling before coming to Hoenn. This had been a spur of the moment decision to chase her career, her passion. Educating children had been something she'd wanted to do - and if it meant picking up her life and dropping it in an unfamiliar region, so be it.[break][break]

"Hammerlocke is a wonderful place, yes. It still surprises me that Hoenn doesn't have access to such easy transportation as a train. Perhaps Galarians are spoiled," she chuckles.[break][break]

For a moment, then, her eyes seem to cloud with some degree of longing or sadness, her thoughts drawn back to her home in Hulbury.

Thea is deep in thought when she hears the soft knocks at the door. In fact, she startles if only for a moment, the papers she's organizing in her binder slipping from her fingers. She catches them before they fall completely, tucking them into the binder and closing it temporarily.[break][break]

She opens the door to find a friendly face on the other side, but her surprise is expressed plainly on her face. He greets her and she dips her head, fingers slipping from the door to rest back at her side.[break][break]

"Good morning."[break][break]

It surprises her most that the League had assigned someone to help clean up the school - she had been more than willing to take care of it herself. For the most part, the Pokemon Academy was well-kept and clean. Private schools enforced cleanliness and impeccable organization, after all.[break][break]

"That is.. very kind of them, and of you. I appreciate it. My name is Miss Rhodes--- Thea."

Thea had never been overly observant in personal relations, and as such, she doesn't necessarily notice the attention that Asher gives her. She merely accepts it as politeness and thinks nothing more of it.[break][break]

It does, however, surprise her for just a moment that he had so easily picked up on her hometown based on her accent. It often slips her mind how heavy her Galarian accent is. [break][break]

"Humid and much, much warmer. Sometimes I miss the rain and cold from time to time, but it's nothing I can't handle."[break][break]

She hums a bit in amusement, a soft noise. Her fingers curl around the base of her glass.[break][break]

"Do you travel often?"

Clutching Pearls [Open M]

Thea glances at the two canines, watching as their teeth bare fangs and their hackles raise. Although there's nothing immediately in front of them, they seem to be reacting to something. Which means there definitely is something here in the house with them. Maybe more than one something.[break][break]

June murmurs and curses to herself, taking her advice to avoid the glass. Where Thea feels calm and composed, she's gathering a less-than-calm energy off of the other woman. However, Thea quickly moves to abandon the kitchen and pitch the suggestion to move down the hallway. It seems that June's dog Pokemon is quick to join her.[break][break]

It's sharp barks reverberate down the hallway and Thea pauses to look back at June. [break][break]

"There is always a reason ghost Pokemon linger. I'm sure we will be able to take care of this efficiently."[break][break]

June takes the lead and Thea lets her if only because she is eager to investigate on her own. However, she does offer a word of advice.[break][break]

"Perhaps we should look for a room that might have been used frequently by children. Keep your eyes open for toys or trinkets that might seem out of place. More than likely that will be where the ghosts prefer to be."

Thea glances at the man the moment he speaks. His comment comes out of the blue but a part of her appreciates it in some way.[break][break]

"Oh.. she is definitely your typical Drifblim. It has been a long time, however, since she's acted out or harmed anyone. A very, very long time."[break][break]

There is an ominous look in her eye as she says this, a firmness to her tone. She watches her Drifblim wreak havoc on the car. For the Pokemon, it seems to be an outlet that had been long-since coming. [break][break]

In this instance, the Drifblim has used her frame advantage to rupture the interior of the car from the inside out. She fits where others may not, her ghostly body.[break][break]

Thea exhales softly as Alexei speaks up again. Her attention slides back to him and she muses over his comment.[break][break]

"Happenstance, honestly. Call it fate, pushing me into this mess."[break][break]

This time, she's hiking by herself. From time to time, the woman's Drifblim appears to ensure that her trainer is safe, but otherwise remains aloof.[break][break]

Sweat beads on Thea's brow and she wipes moisture that settles on her lip. It was important to keep a regime, and she had come to appreciate the burn of a hike once a week. It kept her in shape and it allowed her to take advantage of the impossibly beautiful sights that Hoenn had to offer.[break][break]

Jagged Pass was just one of many she had come to appreciate.
