She can pick apart each and every detail in the way his face falls apart. The disbelief, the shock, the relief, the anger. It flashes like bolts of lightning against the surface of his face, and she can feel the pain that it brings him, just looking at her. It gets worse when she opens her mouth to speak, because all of that washes away in an instant.[break][break]

He calls Blue away from her, and though her eyes don't stray from Flynn's face, it's impossible to miss the whine, she uncertainty, the way she hesitates between them like a child caught in the crossfire. Thea sucks in a breath when he turns around, pulling away without saying anything at all. There is a burning in the pit of her stomach when she sees only the back of his head.[break][break]

Thea stands there, unmoving, just watching the man she once loved pull away. It felt wrong, if only because it had been her to do that originally. It had been her who had turned away and walked off. [break][break]

But it was Blue who pulls her out of that downward spiral, that inability to speak up, to object. The Mightyena's wide eyes and hesitation encourage her to take a step forward.[break][break]

It is as if time stands still, and the is the only one capable of moving each individual piece. But instead of doing that, instead of turning to leave, pretending he didn't exist, she finds that she, too, is frozen. Her feet are locked in place, her breath catches in her throat, and she can't tear her eyes away.[break][break]

"I--"[break][break]

He says her name, and Blue is at her side, panting. The dog's hot breath tickles her fingers, and she reaches to stroke her fur, as if this is familiar, as if she's done this before. And she had, numerous times, long before Blue had evolved into the beautiful Mightyena she was now. [break][break]

But panic surges in her chest, and Sara seems horrified and disgusted all at the same time that this super hot police officer she's literally hanging off of is slack-jawed and wide-eyed for her former teacher. [break][break]

"Yeuch.. didn't see that one coming."[break][break]

Dejected, Sara returns her Chansey and waves awkwardly at Thea before making her exit. Thea waves back, though there is no life to the way her arm rises and falls to bid her former student farewell.[break][break]

But her attention never strays from Flynn's face. There is a sadness there, a sense of confusion, maybe even fear. Somehow, however, she finds her courage and her words. Her hand withdraws from Blue's head slowly, as if she feels as if she isn't allowed that courtesy, that friendship. [break][break]

Because she doesn't.[break][break]

"Hey, Kris. You... look well."[break][break]

She can see the contorted expressions of outrage from the side of the field documenting the Torkoal's battle. The Meganium slams down on top of the Pokemon, and she can almost hear the shell creak beneath the pressure. Smoke expels from the Pokemon's pores and mouth as the Meganium rolls off of him.[break][break]

It both surprises her and does not to hear Remiel's proposition. She breathes in deeply but quietly, measuring her response and mulling over what he's saying. The woman's eyes never stray from the battle, but her shoulders lean back and she appears stiffer, more tense.[break][break]

"I see."[break][break]

She had been uprooted from Hammerlocke University to take up a quality position here in Lilycove. And now, a stranger, essentially, was standing opposite her with a different plan, if she were so bold as to take it.[break][break]

Thea's expression changes to one of surprise when he mentions his own children. She seems to study him for a moment, genuinely intrigued to hear such news. The women she worked with and had known in her youth had looked up to him as a sort of.. icon of male fantasization - sort of. They had often giggled about one day marrying him.[break][break]

Regardless of his answer, they manage their long walk to their destination. She has certainly worked up an appetite, and she comes to a stop alongside the man while his Pokemon work at setting up a makeshift camp or picnic area. He asks her about preferences, and she reaches into her bag to retrieve hand-made sandwiches and sliced apples wrapped in beeswax paper.[break][break]

"I packed a few sandwiches just in case I'd be out late. You're welcome to help yourself."[break][break]

If Remiel is alluding to something, Alethea is none-the-wiser, dismissing it at first. Of course, the man then interjects to explain himself, belittling the integrity and financial capacity of Lilycove. She regards the man in front of her quietly, measuring his words and the meaning behind them.[break][break]

"This academy is in good hands and is of high regard."[break][break]

While he moves away and toward the window, Thea shifts her weight and laces her fingers together in front of her. She follows him after only a breath, coming to a halt next to him, but with plenty of space between them. Her attention settles on the smoking Torkoal and the mistake it is about to make, underestimating the Meganium. It's smog is absorbed into the Pokemon's skin, but before the purple toxin could seep below the surface, the smell of an aromatherapy cleanses the area.[break][break]

Alethea is damp, the bottom-half of her skirt more than a little water-logged. But she manages just fine in wringing it out by hand, and when her brother sets down next to her to apologize, she looks up with an expression a little bit softer and more natural than what he may have first experienced during their reunion. It seemed to be a glimpse of the Thea he had known as a child, more carefree and easygoing.[break][break]

"It's quite alright, I'm not made of sugar, I won't melt."[break][break]

Her attention catches the sight of a little pink Corsola still stranded, but it seems to have taken a liking to her, specifically. The tiny creature is so rattled and nervous that it sits on top of her boot, trembling like a leaf. It is in no state at all to be cast back into the water, so she scoops it into her arms.[break][break]

His forward comment incites raised eyebrows and genuine surprise out of the woman's polite, composed expression. The woman hesitates, apparently quite bewildered to the point that words don't immediately come out to play.[break][break]

Instead, she finds herself saying nothing at all, and instead following his gaze when he peeks over her shoulder. [break][break]

She joins him as he moves past her to walk toward their supposed destination, and is relieved when the young man ventures to continue their idle conversation.[break][break]

"Most of them are, yes, for the most part. The students I teach are young and impressionable, however, so it's important that we keep their spirits up."[break][break]

If they lost faith or lost hope, Hoenn's next generation of heroes and strong, capable trainers would be lost.[break][break]

He surveys her classroom, but her eyes never stray from his face, and her curiosity is hardly muted. What could possibly have brought him here, to see her, of all people? His family name had been a memorable one, she knew, from her stay in Galar while she'd studied in Hammerlocke.[break][break]

"I lived in Hammerlocke for a few years."[break][break]

The woman's recognizing him really had nothing to do with Hoenn - although his recent announcement from the League granting him the title of 'Galarian Ambassador of Hoenn' had certainly helped.[break][break]

His hand extends to her, as does his full attention. The woman hesitates only for a moment before allowing her hand to slip into his to return his greeting. [break][break]

"I'm.. flattered, Mr. Calcifet."[break][break]

When he glances behind her to her notes and addresses her work, Thea sucks in a breath and follows his eyes.[break][break]

"As long as it takes to stick - but it is generally a brief lesson. It is more important for the students to self-educate with their own Pokemon, as that is how they learn best, with hands-on technique and demonstration."[break][break]

Alethea's voice carries easily over the classroom, though the screen flicks on to draw the children's attention to an educational video surrounding Pokemon abilities and utilizing them to their advantage. She had already spent the morning drilling them about the importance of teamwork and communication, so the rest of the afternoon could be better spent seeing it in action - to help commit her lesson to memory.[break][break]

What she finds peculiar is the young man slinking in the back row, settling down with a notepad and pen. The floating teacup that trails him also intrigues her, and she finds herself following the man's frame as he settles in. No one else seems to notice him, but she had.[break][break]

As soon as the movie ends, she reminds her students that they should have been taking notes for the quiz later in the week, referencing topics discussed in today's lesson. The students all file out of the classroom, leaving Thea alone with her papers and thoughts - and the mysterious man at the back of the room. She glances up as he approaches, her expression is polite but virtually unreadable as he addresses her.[break][break]

"I believe I can spare a moment, Ambassador."[break][break]

Her attention shifts briefly to the floating Sinistea and its bow before returning to Remiel's face.[break][break]

The message on the other side blinks into action, paired up with a cucumber moving picture that makes Thea squint.[break][break]

"What's a.. cute-cumber?"[break][break]

To which her friend laughs dramatically, apparently deeply amused by Thea's question, to answer:[break][break]

"It's a play on the word cucumber, but cute. She thinks you're cute, Thea."[break][break]

Of course, this warrants a brief blush from Thea, but she ultimately passes the phone back to Diane with a constipated look.[break][break]

"I'm not interested in dating anyone, Diane. Seriously."[break][break]

Ultimately, Thea's argument with her coworker would be in vain, because later that week she'd received a text message from the woman indicating that she had been chatting with Mila for her, and had set up a date for them at a local cafe in Lilycove. Apparently Mila was boarding a train just to come see her.[break][break]

How humiliating.[break][break]

And, out of guilt for being responsible for Mila coming on out for this horrible misunderstanding, Thea does her best to look somewhat presentable and 'less stiff' as her coworkers so delicately described her as.[break][break]

She is standing just outside the cafe, unwilling to go in in case Mila is there, and also for fear Mila isn't and she might miss her entirely.[break][break]

The man and the Mightyena both send an uncomfortable shiver down her spine. It's the way they run in tandem, following after the young girl. The cool, calm demeanor in the face of a supposed emergency. It leaves Thea positively stunned into silence as she watches the man break up the situation with ease.[break][break]

'Walk it off.'[break][break]

Had she heard him say that before? It sounded so.. familiar.[break][break]

Cold lavender eyes linger on the back of the officers head a moment longer, just long enough for her to be stunned into disbelief, maybe even horror. The colour in her cheeks fades away as Flynn turns to bark orders at the crowd, seeking out assistance for the man still on the ground, groaning and bleeding.[break][break]

Sarah returns to her side, gushing over a. how hot the officer is and b. how pale and frightened Thea appears to be. The woman's hands are all over Thea's face, concern written in the crease between her brows. But she pulls her hands away and instead strokes the students cheek.[break][break]

"No, no I'm fine, Sarah. Come on, you should get back home."[break][break]

Unfortunately, Sarah is definitely not interested in doing that, and is actually the reason the officer finds a Pokemon capable of helping. Sarah's Chansey appears from her belt, and the young woman wastes no time getting back into Flynn's personal space, peppering him with questions and flirtations (as subtle as she can manage). The Chansey gets to work stabilizing his cuts and bruises, stopping the bleeding.[break][break]
