"i'm fine," she murmurs, arms shifting to cross over her chest. "and perfectly capable of taking care of myself." the tone leaves little room for argument.

and it seems as though he doesn't have it in him anyway... a win for giada, perhaps. a clash between them here and now wouldn't necessarily end well.

her smile returns in the wake of his smirk. "i don't think i would." the smile widens as another thought rises. "unless you have new tricks you wanna show me?"

[attr="class","giada i"]she arrives late, flushed, and slightly smelling of alcohol. truthfully... she forgot all about this and had to leave happy hour... anyway!

by the time gia manages to get herself in functioning order, she's joining the clusters of people in the center of the room. one particular body sticks out enough for her to weave through the masses. and when she approaches, she's reaching a hand out to brush against CIAN MAHER 's arm as an announcement of her arrival.

"hey handsome," she purrs, flashing a bright smile. she settles next to his side, probably hovering a little too close but there's a lot of people and she's not necessarily sure what this is. it seems she isn't the only one, either. her head pokes out a little further past cian to turn her attention to @elliott . "oh, hi elliott! nice to see you again, cutie."

wait, everyone has pokemon out. is... is she supposed to too? in her defense, she didn't read the invite fully... with slightly fumbling fingers, two cats join her side. and naturally, they gravitate to rubbing against her legs before shifting over to rub against cian and elliott. cuties.

[attr="class","giada i"]the way he looks at her, even when she isn’t looking, is enough to cause fuzzy flutters in the pit of her stomach. and if she wasn’t sure before, she’s sure now: she’s completely enamored.

pink blossoms across her cheeks as he leans in to kiss her. and when they pull away, skitty ears slightly pushed back, she’s beaming.

”and you’re cute.” her hand reaches for his a moment later.

food… the entire carnival smells incredible and she knows her stomach is already growling. a nod follows his suggestion before she tucks herself closer to his side.

”sounds good to me,” she murmurs. ”think they have fried oreos?”

[attr="class","giada i"]his arm coils around her waist and here, it’s safe. warmth spreads like sunlight on a nice day. and maybe it’s just her but there’s this silly little notion that this is everything she’s wanted and it instills a sense of security.

”okay,” she giggles. truthfully, majority of the movie was a sleepy blur but she’ll watch whatever he wants regardless. ”we can see what the ending is.”

the sound of drunken laughter echoes against empty alleyways. her head snaps up slower than it should and as cian touches upon the weirdness of the group’s escape, she stares. the creeping feeling that something is off sinks in too late.

there’s a pause, a muffled yell, and then an explosion.

traumas and vices are nothing new to her or him, for that matter. and maybe she's a little bitter that he seems so much... better now. and maybe that doesn't even matter in the end but her smile begins to fall flat in the face of a frown.

"what? why're you looking at me like that?" her head tilts as confusion settles.

it doesn't last long, at least. her expressions shift quick into another realm. confusion fades into fuzziness and then amusement.

"you, retire?" a snort escapes at the thought. his appetite puts hers, and possibly anyone's, to shame. "that'll happen when spoinks fly."

[attr="class","giada i"]she's bright eyed and bushy tailed today. well, more than usual, anyway.

the fun and excitement of carnivals isn't something she's really used to. celadon only had gambling and sketchy streets but this? this is everything she dreamed of as a kid. cotton candy, games, rides? sign her the fuck up.

and of course, she just had to place a skitty ear headband atop pink hair because it's cute, festive, and absolutely fitting for giada.

"what's first? rides, games, or food?" the question comes tumbling from her lips in an excited rush. and when she spins on her heel to face him, she's dissolving into giggles at the sight.

cian maher looks good in everything but the matching skitty headband is officially her favorite.

[attr="class","giada i"]oooh cuddles... okay, that's a good plan. she squishes herself a little closer to his body heat, happily content to tuck herself into his side after food and wine.

"no promises," she chirps. "especially if you play with my hair again." and if he rubs her back? she'll be out like a light within seconds.

they realistically make it only a few more feet before the air shifts. she doesn't notice it. not really, anyway. goosebumps rise over skin and she associates it with the february chill, pressing into cian's side to steal more warmth from his body.

"what movie do you wanna watch?"

at least this time, they're mostly clothed. and she's a little more free than before. alcohol clings to her body, leaving a faint liquor smell hanging in the air between them.

"you on the market?" her head tilts at the thought, an almost wry smile settling into her expression.

"or is this just business as usual?" what does he even do now? their shared occupation no longer tethers him to her. he got out while she stayed. and maybe, just maybe, she's a little envious of whatever life he now lives.
