WELCOME!

The TEAM ROCKET SUBMARINE HQ houses a great many rooms with state of the art tech and designs. One of its brightest jewels, however, resides at the heart of its TRAINING FACILITIES:[break][break]

The S.P.E.C.T.R.A. HOLO-DECK.

Past an enormous barrier, that one could imagine hiding GROUDON itself behind it, the space opens up to its visitors:[break][break]

At first glance, there appears to be nothing all too special about it. It's simply a massive, somewhat futuristic-looking chamber with tiled walls and grated floors. A pair of reinforced windows overlook the space from above, preceding spacious observation decks capable of housing dozens of observers each.[break][break]

One of these observation decks is furnished with a massive lounge and several amenities. This includes, but isn't limited to: a bar, betting stations, lounge chairs and sofas, and large tables bearing a holographic map of the deck's current readings. The second observation deck, however, acts as more of a control room. It's filled with computers, monitors, and wide panels that operate the deck and provide a plethora of data to the staff that run it.[break][break]

Today, each of these rooms are occupied with various Team Rocket members. Some have been granted permission to watch. Others have been tasked with running the upcoming exam in the control room, with higher-ups and designated personnel invited to oversee this first stage of development. As for those who wish to join the S.P.E.C.T.R.A. Initiative, or even simply prove their worth before being assigned to a unit: they are asked to step past the massive gate and gather at the center of the floor for roll call. Which each new arrival, a scan sweeps over them all. Unfamiliar faces (NPC's) fill the group. Everyone is expected to have brought no more than THREE Pokémon each.[break][break]

"Introductions will begin shortly," A Galarian accent says over the speakers. His silhouette is visible high up at the control room's observation deck, alongside a floating teacup. "Please remain at your designated positions until further orders are given, and thank you for your patience."[break][break]

OOCLY, you may assume your character has received an invitation to either watch or participate in the S.P.E.C.T.R.A. EXAMS through a Team Rocket memo. More information on the faction found here: S.P.E.C.T.R.A. This thread takes place after the events of GEOMANCY.[break][break]

If you are an OBSERVER, you are confined to an observation deck overlooking the exam floor. You may provide commentary and interact with other observers in this lounge area.[break][break]

If you are a PARTICIPANT, please read the rules below. You are expected to gather at the center of the large chamber with other participants (both PC and NPC). You may interact with other participants prior to the exam's start. Each participant is allowed to bring no more than THREE Pokémon.[break][break]

Lastly, if your character is a designated S.P.E.C.T.R.A. PROCTOR or would like to become one, please reach out to me on the site discord server. Those of you who have been tagged in this post with little or no prior discussion: consider this an official invitation to take part in S.P.E.C.T.R.A. with that character.

RULES & GUIDELINES

This mini-event is NON-DEATH ENABLED, though the likelihood of injury is high. To easily differentiate one group from another, OBSERVERS are asked to mark that they are 'OBSERVER/OBSERVING' somewhere in each of their posts. PROCTORS are asked to do the same as they converse in the control room, with the 'PROCTOR' tag.[break][break]

The rules for PARTICIPANTS are as follows:[break][break]
No legendary or mythical Pokémon.
Avatar abilities are allowed.
No more than three Pokémon each.
No more than one Pokémon out at one time.
You are allowed to summon that one Pokémon prior to the exam starting.

Finally, he thought as he made his way to the center, something to fucking do…

Honestly, with the way he’d been loitering all around the entire place one would think he was just bumming around on his ass, but to be fair—he wanted excitement.

While he had missed what the hell had gone down with that group of fellow associates who’d gone exploring around the Tree (how was that even possible? His mind couldn’t comprehend it) he at least was informed enough of what the hell had happened during said expedition.

He was secretly thankful he wasn’t there, though, because whatever transpired was very much well into the territory of ‘nightmare fuel’, so to speak.

Of course, he’d brought his preferred weapon as well, currently resting in its usual place. While admittedly, he’d look very out of place as compared to everyone else (who the hell else carried a sword around, chrissakes) he at least felt much more comfortable and secure with the blade near him.

A yawn slithered out from his lips. Between work and rocket missions, Felix hadn't found much time for sleep this past week. The sheer exhaustion he felt was enough to zombify the man. But despite the creaking of his bones, he had made time for today's little "exam".

Donned in a simple pair of black joggers and a white crewneck, the ANVIL general situated himself near the corner of the facility, using this time to examine the other participants as they arrived. S.P.E.C.T.R.A was a subgroup he had briefly spoken with Belial Stone about. From what he recalled from the conversation, the basic premise was to directly deal with the threat of avatars. And Felix was tasked with assisting Belial in ANVIL's efforts to provide support for this grand mission. 'A teacher Assistant' was the way his supervisor had described his role.

Hopefully he'd rise to the task.

Oscar had already been invited to participate in S.P.E.C.T.R.A. by Remiel Calcifet , but he felt like he needed to make an appearance here. Perhaps not the greatest move, as he did not currently look his best. Lulu Flint was still treating him for the mysterious illness that has afflicted his body after a certain incident in Ever Grande. He looked better than he did a few weeks ago, but he still needed a cane to get around and his complexion looked downright ghoulish. Nevertheless, Oscar was determined to prove himself--if not physically than at least as a trainer.

As Oscar entered the arena, he was flanked by his three chosen pokemon. Today he brought Grievous the Blaziken, Robbie Rotten the truly evil Naganadel, and Lancer the Beedrill. Of course Genesect was by his side as well, standing proudly as they prepared to---

Oscar took a double take as he realized Genesect had entered the arena with him. Where the fuck did it come from!? priam conrad was supposed to be looking after it, how did it get away? Oscar looked between the observation area and Genesect, suddenly scared that Remiel might retract his invitation for breaking the rules.

Oscar clasped Genesect's shoulder softly, and the determined cyborg turned to face him. Oscar chuckled nervously, "Hey buddy, not sure how you got past the scanners but you're not supposed to be here." Genesect tilted its head, unaware of the rule forbidding particular types of pokemon. Oscar sighed, "Fuck you're like a sad little puppy. Look I would bring you any other time, but I could only bring three. Go back to Priam and stay out of trouble." Genesect looked to its fellow pokemon, slowly moving its head between each of them. Oscar at first made the naïve error of believing that Genesect was counting them--and did not realize until it was too late that it was choosing a target.

Oscar blinked and Lancer was smashed into the ground. Genesect had taken down the beedrill so quickly that even Lancer did not have enough time to realize what happened before falling unconscious. Genesect looked back to Oscar, seemingly pleased with itself. Oscar was--aghast to say the least. Thanks to Genesect he now had little choice but to make it his third. He would have put it back in its pokeball, but Priam had it. Hopefully Genesect did not cause him any harm with its escape--though in all honestly he probably let it out. Oscar withdrew Lancer, Grievous, and Robbie, and looked to the observation deck, shrugging as he waited for a ruling from Remiel.

Up in the observation decks, within the control room, Mars holds a freshly poured glass of champagne – the sight of bubbles rising in golden liquid no longer bringing reminders as concerning as those they would have brought until recently. If anything, these days, there’s a sense of relief that comes with it, and when he takes a sip, he even enjoys the delightful taste.

He had agreed to act as one of the proctors and oversee this S.P.E.C.T.R.A exam upon Remiel Calcifet’s request, but of course, that doesn’t mean he can’t have some fun while doing as much…

”Is there anyone you’re rooting for?” The question is asked to the underboss by his side, a slight smirk tugging at his lips when glancing at Cillian Quinn. Making bets on people? During a test of their abilities? It’s inevitably, really.

It’s after he says it that he looks at the room beneath. So far, there are a few faces he easily recognizes among the crowd, like oscar clayton and Felix Gallagher. The presence of the former is expected, the latter is more surprising, but it does promise to make things interesting...

Bryan entered the observation room looking extremely different from the determined and motivated rocket in geomancy. Something had changed in him, he was quiet, kept to himself and if looks could kill well...many people would be dead. [break][break]

However no one here was guilty for his suffering, no one was left responsible. He saw the whiskey and tunneled vision theo was drinking and walked up casually to him. "Nice to meet you, THEO BECKETT right? Bryan Delarosa, im the new beast. Got anymore of that whiskey?" he asked curiously wondering if he was the sharing type. [break][break]

He looked over to Cillian Quinn and Martín del Mar and nodded in their general direction as he kept a neutral expression. He then glanced over into the room with the people being tested, wanting to join himself but not really being in the best of states mentally he might actually kill someone. [break][break]

However something caught his attention, oscar clayton. Did he always walk with a cane? Bryan kept a closer eye on him than the others.

she entered, joining the fray at their threshold with a quick look around, and a shadowy dart towards the bar. her order was quick: tequila. soon, out of nowhere, the click of her heels would tap at the edge of the control room, close to where she'd spotted Remiel Calcifet's silhouette.

this was far more interesting than anything anyone could possibly be rattling off about sports—and much more alluring than navigating around the social secrets she attempted to keep.

”hello, calcifet,” she chirped. the galarian shapes of her words mimicked his own. the same sharp amber eyes as Cillian Quinn 's gazed at him. he looked like Sabine Calcifet .

”just wanted a little peek at the setup. hope you wouldn’t mind.” she had gotten her start in computers, after all.

and if not, perhaps she’d just come back when it was dark.

Some participants had already chosen to play their hand, parading about with their loyal trio of Pokemon as if to intimidate their potential competitors.[break][break]

The fear of failure had largely left the Kalosian noblewoman, leaving her only with a morbid curiosity to test her own limits. Rocket had been a way of flexing those muscles, exploring just how far the depths of her own depravity could go. Here, however, she appeared a delicate flower surrounded by battle-hardened criminals and soldiers. Were there bets being made -- and Elisabeth suspected there were, for the wealthy loved nothing more than to find frivolous ways to spend and earn money -- she doubted the odds were much in her favour.[break][break]

There was nothing quite like the thrill of being underestimated by powerful people.[break][break]

priam rarely had exams, mostly due to the lack of formal education he had growing up. medical exams were one thing though, and he's certain this one wasn't of the similar type as either of the two.

he walks at the center, as instructed. the number of people attending doesn't surprise him given the recent trends of what the people want lately. it was all too predictable as people will attempt to grow as soon as shackles were taken off.

his reason was unlike the others though. it wasn't growth he was after, but the need to feed his curiosity. he's not really sure why people were down to go lengths for something that wasn't entirely needed.

perhaps mediocrity has already eaten him, though priam doesn't let it reflect in his words and actions.

"and good luck to you too!" he shouts, pointing finger guns at CIAN MAHER as he's the only one to speak in their little clump. he then turns to the observatory above. "oi! when we starting?!"

appearing giddy, he turns to the unfortunate person beside him. "heh, you excited?" he asks Elisabeth Fiorelli. "i'm excited! dunno what to expect though."

And what was that motion he was doing with his fingers...? Finger... guns? Baffling.[break][break]

Shaking her head with a gentle laugh, the blonde said to Priam with no small trace of amusement, "You are not concerned that this might be dangerous, then? I understand that Rocket is not terribly gentle in its training."[break][break]

That was an understatement, Elisabeth suspected. She had heard some whispers at the scanning that injuries were almost a certainty for many participants.[break][break]

"Confidence is good, though," the noblewoman said pleasantly. "It speaks well of your abilities that you are so self-assured at the start." [break][break]

That, or this was the foolishness of one who didn't recognize his own limitations. Elisabeth tactfully omitted that possibility--no need to invent enemies needlessly.

his eyes at the people behind the glass was taken by the person he spoke to earlier. he hadn't expected a response, but it was more than welcome.

"dangerous? pfft! nah. i eat danger for breakfast."

it's such a cliche'd line, but that's what low budget films, telenovelas and other media has taught him. the fact that it just goes so well after the scoff makes priam more naturally inclined to say it as well.

"it's just natural talent, what can i say?" he brags, lifting his shoulders to a shrug as he confidently smirks. "if i wasn't so strong, i would've been, like, quadruple dead right now."

priam feels proud of his proof of his greatness despite how meaningless it was without context. he doesn't need it to be validated for him to feel good about himself though, but it doesn't mean it doesn't help.

"but for realsies, just lemme know if ya need help later!" he holds out a hand and a grin to Elisabeth Fiorelli as he introduces himself to someone he hasn't personally met until now. "you can call me conrad!"
