A southern belle… if his heart wasn’t already in a complicated place, this man would have taken it with that accent. He was putty, and his body took the consistency of such when his legs starting to give out… Wait, that wasn’t the sweet southern heat in front of him, that was fatigue.

Slowly he would start to lose his balance, struggling to stay up as he slumped further down.

“Great, let's go.

A quick tap of his side would release a pokemon with a flash, a gothita, with a somewhat similar and haggard appearance would sprout forth, looking around before quickly catching her trainer with psychic, surprise clearly shown on her face. She would straighten out his body, forcing him into an upright position, an exhausted sigh following.

“I hope you don’t mind her tagging along, she likes tea… and i need some help walking.
[break][break]
He’d move forward slowly, the gothita following as he waved for the man to follow.

“I saw a coffee shop not too far from here, c’mon.”

And once they arrived, like a gentleman, Kim would hold the door open for his pardner.

“Did the singing at full volume give it away?”

A chuckle would once again escape his closed mouth, his hands dropping to rest on his hips.

“Afraid not Miss Cait. I just came out here to get a nap in before I got back to work.”

One hand would go to sheepishly scratch the back of his head. He’d been doing a lot lately in terms of being an officer, and didn’t exactly have much time to just relax, whether it be at home or otherwise. He doesn’t even remember the last time he had an off day. Really, he was coming out here to have an excuse for not answering his phone, being placed out in the wilds didn’t guarantee good reception after all. Plus, he could come up with something like helping some pokemon or some junk if any higher ups asked why he didn’t pick up.

“I’m glad I ran into you though, I haven’t had a proper conversation with someone in ever, it’s been all business recently.

Shooting his gaze around quickly, he would take a few steps back when he found a good place to sit and promptly plop down onto the green below. A few seconds of getting his seated position just right and he would nod, patting the ground next to him for her to join him on.

“Lets chat.” He’d say in a light tone, the expression on his face cheerful and calm as he spoke.

Finally, after a seemingly unending stream of work, there was none. Silence met his phone for the first time in what seemed like months and he was at last free to do what he wanted to. And right now, all he wanted to do was get in a big pile and cuddle with his pokemon.

That is until he saw a face, a beautiful one at that. His attention turned to it as the body attached to it walked down the city street, amber eyes following the man as he passed.

How would he go about this? Smooth? Friendly? Aggressive? He had no idea. All the stress that had accumulated on his brain boggled it, making him unable to judge himself, much less the actions he would take.

He had to think fast, and before he knew it, he was already walking in the man’s direction, giving him a tap on the shoulder then speaking with a worn out voice.
[break][break]
“Listen… I’m very very exhausted right now, but to let someone as cute as you just up and leave would be a major mistake on my part.”

A sigh would escape his throat as slightly baggy eyes studied the man’s facial features.

“Do you want to go get some coffee with me or something?”
[break][break]
Desperate. The actions he took were definitely desperate.

Her movements were enchanting and his eyes would not leave her for a second. It was amazing how she moved, her dress freely flowing as her arms held tightly to her instrument, one moving gracefully and in sync with the notes they strum out.

The music she played begin to fade as he focused on her with a semi-serious look in his eyes. Had he left he would not be able to bear witness to the marvel of his junior playing in such a whimsical way. He was happy he stayed.

His hand would move to cover the smile that stained his face, her finishing words giving the pokemon who had only stayed to eat the go-ahead to do so, the skitty and teddiursa quickly devouring their portions.

Kim on the other hand, was unsure whether to clap or keep his silence and give an approving nod. He would instead opt to push off the tree and make his way forward with his arms still crossed the smile he once hid remaining on his face.

“That kind of caught me off guard, if I were to be honest. He'd chuckle, quickly giving an offhanded wave. “Not that it wasn’t good or anything, it was beautiful, I think you were great, amazing even.” Adjusting his position he would move into a more comfortable standing position, speaking with a calm tone. “Do you do this all the time or is it just for special occasions?”

His body would untense as she gave up, a feeling of guilt washing over him in the process. It was good that he didn’t have to sing, but the explanation that followed almost made him want to give in. Almost.

He was about ready to turn tail and get out of there as soon as he could, but his pokemon had other plans. The skitty and teddiursa quick to make their way over to the treats offered to them and the flaaffy would slowly walk over and make herself comfortable next to the nearest pokemon, Cait’s tropius.

Amber eyes would squint at the pokemon welcoming themselves so easily, the thought of leaving them behind crossing his mind for the briefest of moments before he leaned against a tree with his arms crossed, giving a resigned sigh.

“I guess we’re staying then…”
[break][break]
It didn’t seem like she minded him at all, and on second thought, it seemed rude to turn down and invitation for what seemed like her own personal harvest moon festival.

“When you finish I have a few questions to ask you about this. For now, I will interrupt no further. ”
[break][break]
The melody she played put him a little more at ease, part of him impressed at her skill on the strings, and another still occupied with the thought of her seeming him act in such a way as before.

His eyes would squint as his brows arched downwards. Annoyance has replaced the otherwise placid expression he once had, in response to the avoidance to the end she had failed to mention, instead opting to ask about something as frivolous as what she did.

The features of his face untwisted, the indifferent look returning. The only remnants of the scowl that remained were furrowed brows as he began to speak.

“...they helped us. The relicanth helped us not drown and lanturn kept us healed. I could only assume they were sent down there by trainers or they were wild pokemon who’s abilities could be used in the future for water rescues or what have you. As rangers it is our duty to provide a helping hand to those in need and if we see an opportunity to help we take it. So, Arlette, finish your summary.”

His words were fast paced and his tone was impactful. He didn’t want to push her, she’s his friend after all, but if she refuses to remember then he’ll make her.

His eyes would dim over, a chill running up his spine at her request. It was already embarrassing as is to be heard singing, and for her to ask something like that, his heart nearly stopped.

He’d swallow hard, taking a step backwards, his voice once full of life struggling to come out as his vocal cords tightened.

“Th-That’s a tall order that I don’t think I can fulfill. It’s nice of you to conveniently have a violin and all but that was a one time thing that you shouldn’t’ve heard in the first place.”

A cold sweat would run down his forehead, the crimson of his cheeks forcing the tan to subside in favor of it. This was a horrible way to make a second impression.

A melody not so far off would flow into the ears of those that cared to give it a listen, the voice of a man coming closer and closer as hums accompanied it. The lyrics would soon come into hearing range, the upbeat melody heard clearer as it did.

“O..r the… tre...ps and mo…..s! Over the …..ened ravens! And softly it falls by a house near a stream, and over the garden wall-”

Emerging from the brush, the familiar (and handsome) face of Kim would sprout forth, his teddiursa in both hands raised over his head as he held the note. Joining him holding their own notes would be a skitty and a flaaffy, each at his side. He would continue as he let the teddiursa down gently, rubbing his nose onto the cubs.

“-To theeeee.”
[break][break]
With one last breath, the lavender hair man would turn towards the group that had gathered around, quickly holding the teddiursa under his arms like a sack of potatoes. His cheeks flushing slightly as he cleared his throat.

“F-fancy seeing you here, didn’t mean to interrupt you… please continue.”
[break][break]
The original intent of him coming out here was to find a quiet place to get some rest, somewhere away from the city and work. But after walking in silence with his pillow, sleep inducer, and cuddle buddy, he felt it necessary to break out into song.

He was lost in the music, his mind set on not letting their beautiful moment of synchronization between trainer and pokemon go to waste. It was only when he finished that he snapped back to reality, and into a rather embarrassing situation at that. Maybe he could shimmy his way out of this semi-embarrassing situation.

a suck of his teeth and a frown would convey the annoyance he felt at the unnecessary display for a lack of sympathy the redhead possessed. and along with that, some other asshole is trying to attack him now, along with the building starting to crumble. his patience was running thin, real quick.

with a huff, he would stand tall and shout in a semi-annoyed tone.

“hey assholes! listen here and listen good. i don’t give a fuck what you’re trying to do, as long as you let me get these people out of your way and stay out of mine. if you want to fight anyone, fight those dummies over there that are putting up one.”

with that he would continue to load sleeping scientist, replacing ones that weren’t in immediate danger of poison with ones that were, onto the torterra, giving the turtle a pat to move towards the exit and the volcarona a signal to follow and provide protection. as it moved, the torterra steeled itself, withdrawing from battling.

meanwhile, he would once again help where he could, dragging scientist closer to the exit and sort of putting them in a big sleep pile to load onto the torterra when it had returned.

“y’all are so fuckin extra.”

he’d whisper under his breath, the notion aimed towards the rockets and not the scientist he was moving.

skitty would also do its best, slowly dragging scientist as close to the group as she could.

• yelled “leave me alone” to everyone basically
• torterra carried a load of scientest towards the exit with volcarona protecting it, and used withdraw twice
• kim and skitty are just putting scientest into a pile to make it easier to load them onto his torterra

were the only words he uttered with a smile, her form blurring as his eyes began to droop. the cup would drop from his hand as he wobbled about, dozing as the contents emptied onto the floor. looks like he walked right into the middle of a field of sleep powder. whoopsie. however will he get himself out of this pickle…? oh wait!

“sette... hit me.”

he said drowsily, the skitty quickly hopping up and delivering a smack to the man’s face with its tail, a wake up slap bringing him to his senses. the torterra stands strong unaffected by the powder spread throughout the field.

with his mind repaired he would go for a ball, sending out a volcarona, the bug whipping up a whirlwind to quickly dissipate the spores spread about around him as well as a few of the spikes laid around.

a deep breath would be taken as he rubbed his face, a flushed imprint of the skitty’s tail marking the caramel pigment of his skin.

“as i was saying. no.”

his movements would not cease as he escorted weary scientist out, setting them onto the torterra’s back now that he had a bit of extra muscle.

all this while an earthquake was goin on too? this guy must be hellbent on helping people golly gee. (i'll uh... edit this probably)

• walked into the sleep powder field lol, shoulda read more
• skitty used wake up slap on him(1/2)
• sent out volcarona(1/2) and it used whirlwind to get rid of the sleep powder and a few of the toxic spikes in the way(2/2)
• torterra is unaffected by sleep powder because of its grass typing
• told @patricia "no." as he loaded scientest onto the torterra

he stepped out for a minute and the whole place turned to shit. all he wanted was a quick lunch, something on his stomach to stop the hunger pangs but that seemed to be too much to ask.

a sigh would escape his throat as the lavender haired man walked forward with a drink in hand, a skitty walking in stride with him. as he sipped at the drink he’d walk on through the open front door spotting those that were causing all this mess.

kim would simply sideeye them as he walked passed the rabble rousers and send out a torterra to act as a wall between any that tried to attack him as he went to assist scientist in need of a hand out of this dump.

"steel yourself duane, civilian lives come first."

the torterra would huff as it withdrew itself slightly, ready to act as a shield

• came back from a lunch break
• walked in and passed the fighters like lol, bye
• sent out torterra to block any attacks that came his way as he helped escort scientist

Her words rang true as he walked forth with her, it was certainly cold, and with the air starting to nip up outside, it was a wonder why they had kept it like so. Probably some technical jargon he can’t be bothered to learn about, he has too many things on his plate right now as is.

The question she had asked otherwise sparked thoughts he had never even dared to tread on. How long has he been in the league? Even he didn't know. Technically, he’s only been registered in the league for years, but the line between him registering and his upbringing blurred together. A direct estimate was seemingly impossible for him to conjure up.

And with the thoughts of registering so too came the thoughts of training, this taking place through the majority of his life. The smile that once kept place on his face would fall off, replacing itself with a somewhat tired look of displeasure.
