"The Groudon wasn't that big, you know."

But he's right, in a way. Despite the mountain undergoing cave-ins and landslides as a result of the legendary Pokemon's tantrum, everything surface level was pretty much the same. They could probably fix those landslides and cave-ins easily, too with a little elbow grease and spare time.

For now, however, they would be exploring it themselves. Probably not the best idea, but Stormy wasn't exactly patient.

"There has to be."

"clearly you don't remember you, illeana, and matias's charizard trying to pull that gem from its body. it was definitely way bigger than the books say."

a green orb floats by, huffing annoyedly at their presence. before it could release a psychic attack onto them, ace, his pidgeot, swoops down and pins it beneath her claws. her neck arcs, beak pointed and ready, before it disappears into an orb beneath her talons.

greyson gives her both a thankful, and apologetic look.

"that's one way to start the day."

then, he broaches a subject.

"...are you looking to see if any of the unown are still lingering here?"

"It was primal, remember?"

But honestly, the details are as fuzzy as the mutual description of the beast for the duration of that entire ordeal.

Instinctively, Stormy steps aside and raises an arm to avoid feathers flying while Greyson's Pidgeot tackles a floating jelly. Their scuffle is short, and a different sort of Pokemon strolls up to pick a fight in much the same way. But, seeing as the bird is preoccupied, Stormy handles it instead.

One of Stormy's many Arcanine appears from a pokeball at her belt, barreling straight overtop of the approaching Machop. It gets a mouthful of dog hair and hot paws all over his body. Arcanine barrels straight back, doing the same on the way back, and Stormy tosses a ball into the aftermath.

"Yes."

Her response is short and sharp, laced with clenched teeth and fist.

greyson scratches his head, trying not to let his ignorance show too much. "i'm... not really sure what the difference is?" he didn't know a thing about groudon, much less it's primal state. the only thing he could match to do the phenomenon was the question asked by Eva Morales that one day he'd had her over.

he promised himself to do more research one had had the chance. on groudon. kyogre. rayquaza. the heroes of many battles. he'd held that duo in particularly high-regard. they fascinated him in a way the other legendaries didn't.

"we'll find them." the consolation he offers is weak, without merit, but she knew him enough by now to know he'd keep his word. even if they had to spend all day here. to that regard, he orders the pidgeot to scout the area for signs of the strange pokemon. in the meantime, he releases another pokemon: espeon.

almost as soon as she touches the ground, a pokemon jumps down from the cliff and cocks it's head in challenge. almost absentmindedly, rose's PSYCHIC has it floating helplessly into the air. greyson tosses a ball after it, amused.

"it's been a while since we've done this." he couldn't help but think back to their first meeting at the fiery path. how long ago that really was.

"I don't know, man, but it was big."

Or at least, that's how she remembered it. The Groudon was burned into her memory, into her nightmares, as this giant, hulking titan.

She swallows, shaking her discomfort and moving on from the subject.

Exhaustion already begins to wear on her features at his vow. While he meant well, and while she knew he meant it, the thought tires her immediately. She so desperately wished to crawl back into bed and never come out.

But that was impossible. She had a job to do, obligations to meet, people to impress.

And she had a mission now, more than ever before. Although she knew she couldn't wilt to the suggestion she was nothing without Moltres- it felt like it. It was wrong, and it was dangerous, but it was true.

"You going to kiss me again?"

Briefly, the woman side-eyes him before moving forward. When she does, she spots a Riolu practicing its FORCE PALM. The focus in its stance draws her in, and Stormy directs Arcanine to intercept. Flames devour a path forward, consuming both the Arcanine and the Riolu. On the other side of the FLAMETHROWER, only Arcanine remains standing.

Stormy approaches the fainted Riolu and kneels to capture it.

he laughs, despite the layer of newly added tension. "no, i don't think my person would appreciate that too much," he pats his head down awkwardly. he didn't regret their kiss... not really. the situation had just been tricky.

in-front of him, rose's BABY DOLL EYES enamor the nearby TOXICROAK, turning it into an easy catch. he bends down to pet the eeveelution affectionally. "if you're looking for an unown or something, i could always give you one of mine. i'm not sure i really even want it," not after what it was responsible for. it being their kind.

Stormy laughs and doesn't further press the question. He seems uncomfortable and awkward, given the patting of his head and the mention of his significant other.

His person. Once upon a time, she'd had one, too.

Stormy watches him out of the corner of her eye as he pets his Pokemon. But his offer makes her nose crinkle and her expression to grow cold.

"I don't want one, Greyson. I just want the information they offer. They're dangerous and shouldn't be trusted."

Further ahead, the woman's Arcanine has stumbled across a clutch of battered eggs. Upon closer inspection, it appears that they are a band of Exeggcute that have been horrifically manhandled by clumsy paws and dog slobber. To save them the hassle of being scrambled further, Stormy catches them.

Arcanine whines in protest.

it's reasonable, he knows that. but if you go looking for trouble, the thing is, you're going to find it. "i can maybe see if mine could answer a question or two," he offers - or something, at least. they had to be useful for something, right? he wasn't one of those people that collected these.

he had to admit to being a bit frustrated, not knowing how he could help. it was selfish to indulge in that, he knew, but it was the type of person he was. he always wanted to be of use to someone.

Stormy sighs, forcing herself to relax her shoulders and rid herself of some of the stress and tension that's keeping her uptight and agitated. It isn't his fault and it isn't fair of her to be upset with him or anything he has to offer. The woman exhales slowly through her mouth, sucking in a long, quiet breath before answering.

"No--" she seems to snap at first, but then she looks at him and she seems exhausted. "No, I'm sorry. I don't.. I don't know what questions they'll even answer. They're Pokemon, not people, they can't talk to me. There's nothing they can do to help whatever it is that I need help with."

But she follows after him anyway, releasing just a little bit of control. Along the way, a Scrafty comes out to play that seems to be chipping away at a spot in the wall. She chooses to send her Arcanine after him to spar. Heavy paws outweigh the blows the little fighting type can muster, and Stormy retrieves the fainted Pokemon from beneath her own's fluffy paw.
