Ever since the M.A.G.M.A initiative started, Ceri had been busier than usual, now having to add all this sample collection to her schedule. Since she actually thinks Cillian Quinn and Raphael Pryde are pretty great bosses, she has decided to be good about it and even set up an alarm… which in case catches her in the middle of her lunch.

Time to put that burrito aside for later.

Apparently, she’s supposed to meet some guy called klaus anchoret at the lab, but when she makes it there, he’s nowhere to be found. Had she written the wrong time or something? No, maybe it’s that the North Wing can be pretty confusing for those who aren’t here often…

And so, she waits, wearing her lab coat over a skirt that no one would ever call “lab-safe attire”. Hoenn’s just so hot this summer!

Normally Klaus was punctual. More than punctual, in fact. His social anxiety led him to arrive early in case he had the wrong time, wrong place. Today, however, despite his attempts, Klaus was late and it was all these's hellspawns' fault. Refusing to stay in their pokeballs, Klaus spent the better part of 10 minutes chasing the damn Eevees through the lobby before he managed to haul one under each arm like a barrel, the little fox-like pokemon writhing and howling bloody murder at their newest confinement.

"I'm here," calls a harried Klaus as he wrangles the banshee-screeching Eevees into the lab; a scratch slashes across both his arms and one across his cheek. "Ow - fucking hell you little -" he snarls at the Eevee under his right arm, the little beast refusing to release his hold upon the man's wrist.

Whoever the hell said Illumina pokemon were supposed to be more passive were liars.

Eevee. Had a particularly high amount of Eevee been bred while the hatchery had been open? Ceri had barely participated in that, busy as she is, but apparently, that really had been the case.

These Eevee are different, though. Colourful specks of light mark them as ILLUMINA pokémon, and she’s so enthralled by the sight of them that she barely notices klaus anchoret or his many scratches. Sorry, not sorry.

”Ah… Not the most tame, are they? That’s pretty interesting.” She chuckles, but she does reach for one of her pink pokéball… and for another once she does notice Klaus’ scratches. From one appears an Audino that waves up at the man, and from the other, a Spritzee that floats by the Audino’s side. ”Here, let us help you with that! Uhm…Let’s say… 40/60 ratio AROMATHERAPY to SWEET SCENT. And give me a HEAL PULSE while at it.”

The scent that soon fills the air is intoxicating, but it should help calm the pokémon down, and the HEAL PULSE would do wonders for Klaus’ injuries.

”What can you tell me about them? Oh, and are you fine with all kinds of samples, by the way? Blood and all?”

It’s important to ask for consent, after all. Some people are just so weirdly protective of their pokémon.

"No, they're fucking dicks," Klaus grouses, his skin splotchy and red from anger and exertion. He's somewhat grateful at the aide of the Spritzee and Audino, but the little hellions, even somewhat calmer, are still hellions; nonetheless Klaus manages to scruff the one in his left arm when his right wrist is finally released.

Holding up the offending Eevee to Ceri for her to take, he grumbles, "You can punt him into the sun at this rate, do whatever you want."

As the Eevee is unloaded from his care the bastard immediately calms down, earning a deathly glare from his trainer as the smug thing grins at him, the tips of his tail wagging contentedly in Ceri's embrace. Huffing softly, Klaus then shrugs as he man-handles the second Eevee, wiping his now healing wrist on his pants to rid the wound of the top-most layer of blood. At least the ache of the scratches is fading.

"I haven't had a lot of time to spend with them," Klaus admits. "They kind of like to keep to themselves when they're out - they're brothers from different litters. I was going to evolve one into a Vaporeon but I haven't gotten there yet, if that helps with anything."

Ceri decidedly isn’t a big fan of overly fluffy pokémon. They make her nose itch in a way that would probably have her sneezing if it weren’t for the HEAL PULSE and the mist around them, and when taking the offered Eevee in her arms, she’s overly careful not to get bit because who knows what kind of nasty stuff is in its saliva. Oh, and speaking of that…

Buccal samples are first on the list, since she’d rather spend as much time away from those sharp little teeth as possible. Getting it to collaborate is a damn struggle, but to be honest, she’s dealt with worse. She takes her samples for Pokérus-Y testing just in case, even if the Eevee are clearly Illumina, and from there on, since Klaus gave her the ‘go ahead’, she moves onto the more invasive procedures. Blood, tissue, all of that. She’s surprisingly methodical about it all, despite how energetic and cheerful she acts.

Through it all, she chats Klaus’ ears off:

”Oh! Vaporeon is nice… Less fluffy, you know? Do they have all the typical Illumina Pokémon moves? Illuminate, Spotlight, all of that? Anything else you’d want to note? The samples will tell us most of it anyway, but any and all information is helpful at this point.”

Especially their energy readings, in this case. Which she will get to in a moment.

As Ceri works Klaus busies himself with not getting bitten by the second Eevee - he offer's the pokemon's pokeball to no luck, the Eevee sniffing haughtily and refusing to go in. With a soft sigh, he spares an apologetic look for Ceri as she works, though otherwise makes no comment as to the poorly behaving brother.

His brow furrowing momentarily, he supplies after a moment's thought, "Uh. They both know Morning Sun. One of their parents was a Shadow pokemon and the other Illumina but they didn't get the Illuminate ability - they both have Adaptability instead. And their temperaments are shit. From their dad I guess."

"I don't.. really know much else about them to be honest," he admits, his face flushing somewhat with embarrassment. He should probably know more. They're his after all. But he hasn't had time for them, and they keep each other busy and out of trouble so...

”Oooh… Second generation Illumina, huh? That’s interesting. You must have been busy with all that hatchery business.” Since her hands are more than full with the Eevee that wiggles in her arms, ceaselessly attempting to break free, she makes a mental note on such things to add them to her chart, trying to go through all the tests as quickly and painlessly as the feisty little vulpine pokémon will allow. ”No worries, we’ll get this done quick. Thanks for coming down to the lab, by the way.”

No one likes a blood test, not even pokémon, but samples must be collected, and truth be told, Ceri couldn’t care less about the feelings of a little fox. She takes a tissue sample while at it too, only then moving on to the simpler tests. At one point, when she’s weighing it, the Eevee jumps off the counter and bolts towards the door, but her Audino intercepts it. All Ceri does is sigh and get on with it. Once all samples have been collected and stored, she finally turns her attention back to Klaus

”Okay! Next one! All of that, all over again.”

This is going to take a while.

"Ish," Klaus answers vaguely. He winces sympathetically when the Eevee in Ceri's care takes a swipe at the woman, the little pokemon's hackles up and teeth bared as his blood is taken.

"Sorry about their behaviour," he mumbles in turn after Ceri has thanked her, his expression soon exasperated when the Eevee wriggles out of her grasp and bolts for the door. "For fuck's sake," grouses the man as, whereupon seeing his brother make a break for it, the Eevee in Klaus's hand gets the bright idea to try the same.

"Here," grumbles Klaus as he shoves the squirming Eevee into Ceri's hands to go and retrieve the other who is presently scrambling madly across the floor. Eventually, after a good deal of swearing, Klaus manages to retrieve the Eevee - to his desperate relief the Eevee goes willingly into his pokeball, apparently angry enough to no longer desire torturing everyone with his presence.

"Fucking finally," he breathes out, his face red and sweat collected on his brow for his efforts.
[break][break]
Glancing over his shoulder he asks, "Are you gunna need to see them again after this?" He hopes not. He has half a mind to pitch both of them in the ocean when he gets back home.

When Ceri had agreed to helping out with M.A.G.M.A research, she had known she would have to deal with some potentially extremely cantankerous pokémon, as is the nature of just about all shadows. The thing is that these aren’t shadow pokémon, though. They aren’t normal, sure, but aren’t Illumina Pokémon supposed to be nicer? Is this just a result of klaus anchoret being a terrible trainer?

While Ceri repeats the same testing process as before, step by step, she finds herself wondering about exactly what to list the temperament of these Eevee as. Should she just call them normal? Maybe she should put a note there for future Ceri in case she has to see these rude little beasts again…

As if on cue, Klaus asks his question just as this thought crosses her mind.

”Probably not! Looks like I’ll be able to get all the tests done today, but if we need something else from them in the future, we’ll let you know.” She gives him a wink, and the Eevee almost bites her for getting distracted just as she takes it off the scale. Little brat. ”Uhmm…. If you have any other pokémon you’d like to submit for sample collection, let us know. Hopefully more chill ones.”

With that, she laughs, but the Eevee is promptly given back to his owner. Where the hell did she leave her lint roller?

"Oh thank Arceus," Klaus breathes out as Ceri confirms he likely won't have to bring in the demon brothers again. He's going to have to send the little bastards to a training boot camp, or actually take some time with them to gentle the assholes. If that was even possible.

He sighs heavily when the remaining Eevee snaps at Ceri, and with decided hesitation, reaches out to grab the pokemon when offered; holding it beneath the armpits, the Eevee dangles there looking at the humans with murderous intent. "I should let a Sharpedo eat you," he threatens the Eevee to no effect. Shifting his grip to scruff the little fox pokemon, he offers the thing's pokeball, which it thankfully takes to.

"Sorry again," he utters, not even acknowledging her offer of bringing in more pokemon. Thankfully, he doesn't have any. "I - have a good day," the man concludes awkwardly before taking his leave.
