"Oh, Mister Velmos, you goofy goof." Ceri giggles to herself while in the middle of stirring a coffee mug that looks absurdly large when held by her small and delicate hands. It's 1 AM. She had been burning the midnight oil at the lab, and of course, now is time for a little coffee break.

"Isn't this supposed to be a dating sim, though? Where's my option to flirt with him? Ah well, I guess this is pretty spicy too... I wish the actual Velmos would tie me to a chair." She sighs longingly. Does she mean it or is she just being silly?

While Ceri works on the mechanism to collect environmental electricity and transfer it to the generators, she listens to @gaultier's explanations, paying close attention to ever word said. Ah, the beauty of being able to focus on more than one task at once.

Looking at the equipment before them, she finds herself agreeing with oscar clayton's observations: it's much older than the Megalopolan tech they know, but it'll get the job done, and that's what matters right now.

"I think you're onto something there." She tells Oscar just as she finishes with setting things up, then turning to Gaultier with a smile on her face. "I'll need to have a look at those notes. Taking them back with the others would be a good idea."

There's much more Ceri could say, many speculations she could voice, but just as she's about to add something more, the ceiling collapses all of a sudden.

"Arceus! FUCK."

Xurkitree find their way down, and thankfully, where she may have frozen due to her lack of experience with combat, Oscar is quick to react. Everything is set up, so now...

"Come on, come on!" Ceri pushes Gerald Kaiser into the Faraday cage so she can get in as well, her Salandit skittering to her side. From a pink Love Ball, she releases her Toxtricity to stand between the cage and the Ultra Beasts.

"You see that thing over there? We gotta make the Xurkitree use their electricity on it!"

To aid in this, the keystone the researcher usually wears as a choker activates, syncing with the mega stone at the Toxtricity's wrist. TTX MEGA EVOLVES with a growl like a guitar strummed.

Even in this form, the Toxtricity is dwarfed by the Glowing Pokémon, but it does not seem intimidated or retreat. Sparks flicker in its spiked up fur, as if invigorated by the electricity in the environment. Naturally, so are the Xurkitree, but the G-MAX STUN SHOCK that falls upon them is not just any electric attack. When it strikes POISON seeps deep into the Ultra Beasts, weakening them yet also causing enough pain for them to lash out with outbursts of electricity.

Ceri looks utterly gleeful about it.

Thread summary:
Given Team Rocket's desire to explore Ultra Space, Ceri ventures into the rift at the Desert Ruins in the company of oscar clayton, @gaultier, and Gerald Kaiser. This is the first time visiting the area for all of them, and as it often happens in Ultra Space, things quickly turn to chaos.

However, despite the horrors they face, Ceri finds that her craving for discovery triumphs over her reluctance to venture into dangerous places, and as a scientist she thrives in this environment where so much is left to be studied and understood.

Why is it important?:
I think Wilds threads in general are a great way to explore how characters react to new and dangerous environments, and the areas often lend themselves to exploring darker themes. All such things are true in this case, but with this particular thread I also found that it helped me explore Ceri's dislike for danger VS her interest in discovery, and how both of these often collide.

I adore any thread that allows me to write about Ceri's passion for science, and I have much appreciation for Hollow, Senpai, and Howie for putting up with her (and thus my) shenanigans.

This was also the first time she interacted with both Gaultier and Gerald, and I had a great time exploring that, especially in an enviromented like that of this thread!

A declaration is made into the universe by a small and yet incredibly tired researcher. Or, rather, a declaration is made into the cavernous system that is Meteor Falls, echoing through stone until fading beneath the sound of rapids and waterfalls.

"Saur?" Responds the Ivysaur by her side, bioluminescence caused by the ILLUMINA PHENOMENON bringing light to her path. The blooming flower on his back resembles a Crystabloom, but it had not always been this way. Once, Gort had been an Ivysaur like any other.

Today he will change once again.

"This will be our year, Gort, and we'll do everything in our power to make that be the truth... starting by taking some samples from this place."

"Saur!" Gort agrees.

Ceri had heard the rumours, and anything that grants Pokémon power they generally shouldn't possess is right up her alley. So, she sets up her equipment, and once all this is done, her hands clap together, raising a silent prayer before ringing the old bell once...

The worlds are as different as it gets. Elise Calcifet has notoriety, but not the sort of notoriety Ceri craves. If anything, it makes her feel kind of bad for her estranged cousin, since living in the spotlight can have a lot of downsides. But... she shouldn't care for her, right? After all, when has the royal family ever cared for Ceri?

And yet...

"Oh! I hope you do end up enrolling. Studying new things is super fun. I'm a grad student at Slateport U, so maybe we'll run into each other again if you do." She gives Elise a wink and an enthusiastic smile, because stranger as she may be, Ceri will always be an advocate for education and learning new skills. She's very proud of her own education. Some would say it's all she has, even.

Soon enough they reach the end of the trail, the hike seeming to have become much easier when with good company and a conversation to distract her.

Ceri listens as Elise speaks of the pokémon given to her by her mother, noting the Johtonian names. Is Elise from there, then? Ceri's own mother had been the sort of person the royal family couldn't have cared less about: born and raised in Circhester, who left behind her home for the sake of getting out of a bad marriage. Ceri does not speak of those things, of course.

Poison types have always been her passion; perhaps a result of being raised as the daughter of a florist who taught her much about plants and botany. Plants and poisons often go hand-in-hand, after all (Elisabeth Fiorelli would surely agree).

At the mention of Remiel Calcifet, her nose wrinkles for a second, but it's barely noticeable.

"So you don't go to uni or anything? I know Remiel studied Archaeology." She speaks casually of him, but that's unsurprising. At least Elise doesn't seem to know of the former darker affiliations of their dear cousin... and her own, of course. "How do you like the whole public figure life? It sounds kinda stressful."

"Oh, he's a Salandit! Shiny one, actually.... They're native to Alola, but Domino here was a present from my mum back when I got into uni." The words come easily to her, even if Elise is basically a stranger (who she happens to be related to). Ceri gives Domino's chin a loving scratch, causing the Salandit to let out a chirp. "He's usually lazy and just likes chilling in my purse, though, so this is exercise for him too."

"S'all good! Hope things are going well with all that." Ceri smiles. She herself had finished her undergraduate studies long ago, perks of graduating from high school long before most people and all, but she can understand how much work this is for Nomi all the same. After all, all of this apocalypse business has really messed with the schedule of her graduate studies (can you believe that some professors would quit their jobs when the world is ending? Ugh, so unprofessional!).

While waiting for Nomi, she had already begun her work, analysing samples of Terastal Crystals under a microscope. The images are projected onto one of the screens mounted to the wall, side-by-side with those provided to them by Team Rocket's contacts in the Paldea Region.

"Sure, what's up? I'm an open book!" Not really, but you know... She does trust Nomi enough to tell her some things she wouldn't tell most people. It's how they had ended up here, isn't it? Working together for Team Rocket.
