Driftwood had somehow made it to this private and isolated section of the beach, probably as a result of the battle against Necrozma, and although Mars had considered having it removed, seeing Boreas so calmly perched on it somewhat sways his opinion.

The Braviary is huge even by his species’ standards, and unlike most of the ones that appear in space-time distortions, his feathers are completely black. From behind a mask of azure flames, he watches the Luxray, the little girl, and his own trainer. When looking at the latter, it’s almost as if he’s saying ”Really?”

Mars has a bucket of sand, and he too is building a sandcastle. Something he hasn't done since he was a small child. He tries not to think about that, though. He tries to push away the memories that are stained by blood.

”Oh? So you have secrets, huh? Well, I have my secrets too!” He smirks at the little girl, although admittedly, it is quite true.

After all, he could build a perfect sandcastle with just one thought.

Whether it's one that's been warped by a space-time distortion or touched by various different phenomena going around in Hoenn, she's uncertain but she at least gets the feeling that she doesn't want to mess around too much with this one.[break][break]

"What kind of secrets, huh? The cross your heart and hope to die kind??" Her eye sparks at the mention of secrets of his own, her finger drawing a small cross over her chest to emphasise how serious she takes it. "Is it a secret that you can share with people super close to you? Or the kind where Arceus would smite you if he heard you let slip? What's it about?"

”Secrets!” He whisper-yells in return, amber eyes widening as if it truly were a shocking thing. He has always exaggerated things for her sake, to make it more interesting for her, but of course, he’s not lying, is he? He sure as hell has some huge secrets.

”The kind of secrets I’d only tell the people I trust the most in the whole world!”

Of course, he has other kinds of secrets too. Secrets he’ll take to his grave. That’s not the point here, and Mars smirks even while he’s sure he can feel Boreas rolling his eyes at the scene.

There’s something sweet about a child’s utter honesty, and it makes Mars laugh lightly.

For a second there, he’s distracted when something suddenly hits his head, and when turning in the offending direction, he finds a feather smacking him right in the face. Boreas had grown bored of their discussion and decided to move on to preening himself, but his wingspan is so huge that when extending a single wing, it reaches Mars even from where the Braviary is perched.

The banker laughs lightly at this as well, gently moving the very tip of Boreas’ wing away before returning his attention to Eris.

When Eris holds her pinky up, he does the same with his, wrapping it around the much smaller and delicate finger in a gesture that seals their unbreakable promise. It’s the sort of thing Mars would only do for Eris Halla.

Gently taking it in his, he extends her hand so that her palm is facing up, and after looking at it for a second, as if in deep consideration, something begins to appear in Eris’ grasp. A figure. Grey and blue. A perfect scale model of Reiner.

Mars is still working on getting materials and compositions to turn out exactly as he wishes, but for here and now, this is fine.

He gives Eris a slight smirk then.
