After eating her meal and finishing her wine, Yumi had to return to her hostess obligations. Thankfully, mingling with guests was easy. A few minutes here with one, a few minutes there with another, without any requirement on her part to remain for longer conversation.[break][break]

And so she wove between the tables, saying hello, asking how people liked their meals. She spotted a couple seated together and momentarily took a seat on the woman's other side.[break][break]

"I don't believe we've met before," she said to oriel novikov and MARIA LANARO-MATISSE. A slender hand extended to each of them in turn. "I'm pleased you could come. After all, with all the high tensions in the region lately, it's nice to relax for a night. You are enjoying yourselves, I hope?"[break][break]

A waiter stopped by, placing a plate of Miltank steak in front of Oriel. Then she turned to Maria to take her dinner order.

Spoken to MARIA LANARO-MATISSE from a tongue that dripped so commonly of venom and silver, alike, depending on the given scenario. With a soft hum and an idling, straying gaze towards the stage before them, he crossed a leg across his lap, all while he lounged against the back of his chosen seat. In spite of the regality of the setting, there still remained a sense of leisurely atmosphere about him as he nestled his hands, loosely, within the confines of his pockets.[break][break]

”It definitely makes two of us, though,” he remarked on, chuckling, ”but, there was something a friend of mine had to tend to, so I just took my leave for now~.”[break][break]

Even if he could still glimpse them from the corner of his eye, sitting along the selfsame woman that had taken his seat upon his departure. He chuckled quietly.[break][break]

Yet his gaze remained upon them for a sparing amount of time, soon finding himself upon the performance before him, and then towards the sight of someone else. His eyes had almost parted from her—Yumi Hasegawa —as she started her way over, though upon noting that she’d had her eyes on their table, he found himself turning his head further into her direction with a touch of curiosity.[break][break]

”Hm. Neither have I, but I’m more than glad to amend that,” the bookkeeper responded warmly, taking her hand as it was extended toward him. ”Oriel~. And all of this is your doing, right?”[break][break]

He pulled his hand back, instead resting it against his head—and its arm against the table—as a spark of interest danced within his eyes, similarly to the smile that graced his lips.[break][break]

”It’s lovely entertainment,” he started off, giving a brief nod towards the stage, ”and an even lovelier event, altogether~. It’s hard not to enjoy myself, even with the state of the region.”

using such a sickeningly sweet tone will make her teeth rot, though she returns the play with the same degree of amusement. "it's an honour." she hums with a smile, bringing the glass up to her lips once again. "coming from you." there's no lie to her words, but in the same way melted silver drips from his tongue, the sarcastic sting of a faux gold coats hers. [break][break]

yet her gaze remains sharp and the same, still scanning the sea of patrons. they're dressed extravagantly, in a way that's.. oddly fitting of rocket ( the tales of a criminal syndicate have gone from disorganized chaos into professional, romanticized class ). men in suits and women in dresses - whereas she would much prefer to be in a suit herself. the fabric of the skirt on her legs is starting to become stiffling. [break][break]

she takes a glance to the side, watching as a woman dressed colourfully sits next to her. the addition of Yumi Hasegawa is welcome company, her initial distaste for attire aside. [break][break]

so she does what she does best. [break][break]

and smiles. [break][break]

she reaches her hand out to give a firm shake in response "pleasure~. maria." her voice chimes, crystal eyes squint with the smile beneath a crowd of butterflies. [break][break]

she only pauses from the conversation to order her pasta with the waiter. the same smile doesn't leave her lips when she turns back to the duo and their conversation. [break][break]

"naturally" glass lowers to the table with a soft click, for her to lean forward and fold one leg over the other "with lovely entertainment and company to boot~." and plenty of faces to commit to memory at the gambling table.[break][break]

He wouldn't be Magnus if he wasn't searching for an opportunity to touch her. One would think that he would've grown accustom to her body by now. After all they had frequented the sheets with one another for years at this point. But something clearly kept him coming back for more, not that Leilani was really surprised. [break][break]

She didn't flinch when Magnus went to cop a feel, instead she swatted at his chest with a soft smile. "Behave." was all she would warn him with. They weren't in a club or at the base, this was a formal event and a potential romping ground to pull more clients to Olympus. She wouldn't have Magnus messing that up for her, even if he was her boss.[break][break]

While they walked around, waiters with trays of champagne danced by and Lani secured two flutes for herself and Magnus. As expected of herself, the shiny slot machines caught her attention. She didn't want to spend too long on them since there was plenty to explore so she nodded to Magnus to show her intention. "Let me try my hand at this really quickly and then we can keep exploring." she said as she headed to the machine.[break][break]

While she was trying her luck a familiar voice caught her attention and took her by surprise. "Laaani! Maggie! You fuckers, why didn't you say something about coming here? We could've ridden together!" Lani's sanguine orbs narrowed on the man on Jasmine's arm. She hadn't seen him before but she got the tiniest feeling of jealousy just seeing how close the two of them were. [break][break]

Her eyes widened as they snapped to her own date for the evening. Magnus was never good with sharing. It was why she kept her private life out of view from him. They were similar in more ways than one. But this situation would only prove to make things complicated if Magnus couldn't control himself here. "Sorry, baby. Didn't mean to leave ya' behind." He says with a forced smile while he glances at Lani. Lani's controlled expression was enough for Magnus to get the hint she was sure. After all, he was controlling himself quite well. [break][break]

"He's right. I thought you said you were busy this evening. If I'd known you would be here I would've insisted a bit more." she said as she glanced towards her date. Her gaze sharp before softening on Jasmine. Shortly after, their little talk was interrupted by the announcement of dinner. [break][break]

"How about we go grab some seats together, hmm?" she asked as she snaked her arm around Jasmine before flashing a grin to her date. "I'll be stealing her for a moment, I hope you don't mind." not that she'd be giving him any room to protest in the first place. She lead her little merry band up the grand staircase towards the dining hall that was decked out in glittering crystals and tableware. [break][break]

As they were lead to an empty table they were handed menus for the evening and Lani had a quick glance over. This spread reminded her of the fancy dinners she would often go on with her father for their little daddy-daughter dates growing up. She could certainly smell the expense from here. She'd be sure to enjoy herself nonetheless. "I'll have the ziti pasta and Caprese salad" she said softly as she snapped her menu shut. "Oh and more champagne please." she quickly added before turning to Jasmine. [break][break]

Her voice was hushed so Magnus wouldn't overhear. "You know he might kill him right? What were you thinking?" she hissed softly even though her expression never changed from a pleasant smile. "Or you could've told me and I would've tucked Maggie in bed instead." It was true, as much as she loved Magnus she would've picked Jasmine as her date in a heartbeat. [break][break]

Lani's connection with Jazz was different. Of course they had their own share of intimate trysts but Jazz was also Lani's best friend who worked alongside her at Olympus. They could've conquered this entire casino if they had planned properly and worked together. Now Lani would be stuck babysitting she was sure. [break][break]

Soon the lights began to dim as their attention shifted to the stage. The dancers came out and began their enchanting performance before Magnus' whisper caught her attention. "You know, they dance really good... bet you both could leave them in the dust." Lani's ruby pools shifted to Jasmine's emerald ones. "Oh that's not even a question." Lani chuckled softly as she brought her hand to her mouth. "In fact, I'm getting an awful lot of inspiration for an event at Olympus, what do you say babe?" Jasmine giggled, waving them off. "No biggy. I'm just teasing you guys. Have y'all met—"[break][break]

Her introduction was cut short as she was pulled from her date's grasp. She didn't mind it one bit, now that she was arm and arm with Leilani Reinhardt. Turning only for a moment, she waved goodbye to her previous date as she was taken away with her bestie girl and hot bossman.[break][break]

"I'll bite. Throw some PD in for me," Jazz said to Jack Magnus, taking a chance on the gambling.[break][break]

She came to sit at the table with the both of them, browsing through the menu. Though, honestly, anything sounded good to her. Jasmine allowed the server to let the chef decide for her, whisking a glass of champagne off a server's tray and sipping it.[break][break]

"Hmm?" she hummed as Lani whispered to her. "Where's the fun in that? I don't mind ruffling his feathers every now and then. Besides, he does it to me. I only think its fair I do it back sometimes," Jazz murmured back with an small huff.[break][break]

With Lani being her best friend and her occasional lover, she got the spill on the tea that happened between her and Jack Magnus. So of course she knew about their fights, about how he'd get jealous and possessive over any person she brought home. How stupidly hypocritical it was.[break][break]

Was it smart to bring it out in public? No. Was she thriving anyway? Yes.[break][break]

"I'm just glad I could spend time with both my babes. You know you're my two favorites." Jasmine winked at Magnus before leaning closer to Lani.[break][break]

Magnus commented on the show. Though the dancers were okay, Jazz couldn't help but giggle with Lani. "Oh, definitely. I almost wish I could get up there and perform with you," she cooed as she pressed against her, making an obvious gesture that her hand rested on her thigh, perhaps slowly drifting upwards.

"S'that right?" Athena grins, all wolfish teeth and too-bright eyes. "Fuck yeah, dude. You got good taste!" They soak in the compliments, seeming to puff up a bit with pride, just like a bird fluffing their feathers. "I'm Athena. I thought this place would be fulla boring rich fucks, but it's good to know at least a few of us know how to have a good time!"[break][break]

The pat on the back is received with nothing more than a barked laugh— casual familiarity comes as easily as anything to her. It seems that she and Sven have found kindred spirits in each other.[break][break]

However, their similarites don't extend to drink choices. "A coke?" They cast a withering glance at the man beside them. "C'mon man. This is a party!"[break][break]

Peer pressure isn't a cute look, but social niceties have never mattered much to them. Athena contines to rib the poor guy all the way to the bar, though with time it becomes less castigating and more playful. "Whiskey," comes their order, shouted over a patron who had been waiting patiently in line. He glares at her, but something in Athena's stare makes him back down. "On the rocks. Actually, gimme two."[break][break]

She doesn't get carded— not that she'd expected to in a place like this, really. Sven gets his coke if he still wants it, but the second drink is for him, and Athena slides it his way with a quirk of the brow. If he doesn't take it, it'll go down just as smoothly as the glass already in their hand.[break][break]

The noise and crowd around the bar thrums with tangible energy, the kind of thing Athena feeds off of. But it it also makes it fucking impossible to hear, so once their drinks are secured Athena double fists her whiskey glasses and looks around for a table.[break][break]

The dancing show doesn't interest her a whit, but the food looks fucking amazing. Once again Athena doesn't really ask permission, just drags Sven along with her and expects him to follow. On the way, she knocks back one glass of whiskey, sets it down, and randomly hits a slot. She barely cares what it lands on; its just fun to do.[break][break]

But they come to a free spot eventually and Athena is quick to order her Miltank steak— medium rare, because that's the only legal way to cook a steak.[break][break]

Marza wasn't always certain what she thought of Mei's job. For her, it simply meant that Mei was way smarter at the game than she could ever pretend to be. She was wrapped around the other woman's finger. As much as she wanted to be cautious around Mei, she also couldn't help but want to throw caution to the wind. Have fun. What a strange concept, of course she had fun, but it usually entailed something grittier and dangerous.

Mei's hand fitted through her own, a sleek and practiced motion that might as well been a baited hook. She snorted, shaking her head. "Alright, alright. I'm coming." She could afford to escape a little, right? Damn, maybe this woman was having an effect on her. She was fucking persistent, that was for certain. No one had ever tried to cut through her armor before. They often scoffed at the effort, it wasn't worth the trouble. Marza never blamed those people, but goddamn it was nice for someone to try.

She followed after Mei, abandoning her empty glass and her post behind.

CASINO STARLIGHT IN SOOTOPOLIS IS REOPENING TO THE PUBLIC. After the departure of former Rocket underboss Killian Decker, the casino is now under new management. And what better way to commemorate such an occasion and usher in the summer than a party?[break][break]

Yumi Hasegawa is inviting one and all to a glamorous costume party at Casino Starlight, inspired by A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. Costumes themed after faeries and the feywild are encouraged. Bring your Fairy and Dark-type Pokémon with you, too! Come for dinner and a show, music and dancing, and of course, gambling![break][break]

THIS EVENT TAKES PLACE BEFORE GOODBYE GALAR

ROUNDING OFF THE NIGHT

Dinner ends and the dancers return backstage. As staff whisk away used plates, utensils, and glasses, the man's voice from earlier came back on the PA system to say:[break][break]

"Dearest guests, it is our pleasure to introduce the Explouders Jazz and Swing Ensemble, a Sootopolian band who will set the pace for tonight's merriment. If you are feeling lively, come up on the dance floor. Otherwise, enjoy decadent desserts made by our chefs."[break][break]

Musicians gather upon the stage, dressed in dapper suits and bowties. Ceiling lights fall upon the dance floor in front of them, indicating where guests should gather if they wish to dance.[break][break]

At the opposite end of the room, staff members arrange platters and trays of desserts upon a long banquet table. All manner of scrumptious snacks are made available: bite-sized chocolate fudge brownies, mini berry tarts, round cheesecake bites, small bags of popcorn, candy bars, and more.[break][break]

"Additionally, the balcony doors on this floor have been unlocked so guests can enjoy a fireworks show to close off the night. And as always, the casino remains open for any and all interested in testing their luck."[break][break]

Those who wander onto the balcony find a gorgeous view of Sootopolis at night laid out before them. Tables and chairs are available for lounging, while shadowed pockets of the balcony allow for more private conversations.[break][break]

Fireworks launch into the sky, exploding in brilliant bursts of shimmering color. Some of them have been cleverly shaped to resemble Pokémon. Anyone seeking refuge from the noise can return inside, where more gambling and games await.[break][break]

[break][break]Naia pulled her head back, an eyebrow raised and drunken sway next as she'd tilt her head and place her hand on her chin like she was the thinker. ana fell was both confused and perplexed by how she messed it up so bad and then how someone as beautiful as her could compare herself to a cigarette. It was that disconnection Naia's brain that made her hard to accept, but it's what Cyg wanted.

[break][break]It felt like one fumble after another and the biggest one thus far was when she just casually thrown out the fiancée card. While in the moment it made sense for her to do so for Elise Calcifet to not be weirded out, now that she genuinely thought about it... did it?

[break][break]"Naia, you have a fiancé? Congratulations! When will be both be walking down the isle?"

[break][break]Before she could finally catch the error of her ways, Mirabella Fontaine 's voice pull her away from it. The drunken lady placing a finger on her chin as she took a mili-second to think it over and laughed.

[break][break]"Oh I hope not! But if my mom has any say in that we'd be down the aisle tomorrow."

[break][break]Then her next big blunder. One that poor Naia will probably never understand why it was such a blunder in the first place.

[break][break]Though even still Isaac Merlo seemed to have answered her what she initially thought was honestly. The absolute shock and horror on Naia's face as she'd do a double take between him and Cyg, her poor drunken brain trying it's best to understand where and how they would have time for money for anything before his laugh called off the ruse.

[break][break]"Psh. As if. Nah, nah. No sense rushing things along, yeah? Hell, we're not even married."

[break][break]"Oh! I thought you were married.."

[break][break]After all they were so affectionate with one another.

[break][break]“Oh, christ, I don’t look pregnant in this… do I?”

[break][break]Panic. Shock, far worse than when Isaac mentioned their five fake children.

[break][break]"You kidding? You look gorgeous. I'd say glowing, but. Not the best phrase, considering."

[break][break]Isaac had this covered, if anything Naia was sure she was going to say something to make it worse and instead decided to just stick to herself --especially after she got her phone back. The dinner went as well as anyone expected, food they served was great, there may have been a couple times where Naia thankfully knocked over empty water glasses that were being forced upon her, but other than that the table was filled with conversations and laughter.

[break][break]There was just a small issue as the night progressed further and dinner came to a close. Naia was sobering up.

[break][break]To most this wouldn't be an issue, however as she was sobering up, she was stuck between this state of feeling nauseous and sick and worse her crippling anxiety was silently approaching. Like a ghost ready to wrap it's grip around her throat and choke out any little of enjoyment she could get out of this place.

[break][break]It may have been childish, but if these people were trying to sober up then she needed to split off from them.. Plus from the looks of it, the majority of them wanted to just enjoy the dances and have with their partners. At least from the way Amor Rose clung onto his lovely, he seemed like in the mood for dancing. So, after carefully planning her escape, Naia would excuse herself saying she needed to go to the washroom and after getting some distance escape off to the bar again. Surely after her drinks she'll gladly enjoy herself some desserts and check out those fireworks!

Magnus was snickering now, unable to keep himself from at least having a good time. Lani was hot, what can he say? Jasmine toof or that matter. But he knew, when she swatted at his chest, when Lani told him to behave, he had to. Thing about Magnus was, he may have the dog in him, but he knew better than to ruin it.[break][break]

Lani liked this kind of stuff. Magnus wasn't about to ruin it for her.[break][break]

His woman truly did find a glass of the goods, and when she snatched it, he would clink the one she got him to her own, and down it. But Maggie isn't a champagne kind of guy, he's a whiskey-fuck-you-up kinda guy.[break][break]

It's really lucky that Leilani was here as his date. He liked that about her. Because if it weren't for her, Magnus would have made a showing of kicking a guy's ass as the armored king that he looked like. Jasmine's date would be in agony. A real evil move on his part, but shattering a knee-cap in public felt tame compared to some of the guys or gals he handled in the past.[break][break]

To put it bluntly. Magnus was a jealous fucker, and he would break someone in half, but as soon as she pulled Jasmine away, Magnus would smirk before telling Jasmine's date.[break][break]

And he went with. Following his two favorite women now, gambling a little more here or there, he was directly out of earshot of their little conversation over jealousy, as Jazz wanted to gamble, and so he'd throw some PD in for her. And as he did, he'd eventually find their table, seating himself down, to enjoy the menu, before enjoying a conversation with the two stating they could perform together...[break][break]

"What I wouldn't give to see my favorite two women on stage, dancing together..." In truth, he'd give everything BUT his dogs. None of them would ever, ever, EVER be at risk.[break][break]

... no horny comment? Huh. Magnus really was settling down a bit more these days. He was getting sloppy.[break][break]

He orders his food, it would arrive, as he would try to enjoy the night, enjoying some champagne.[break][break]

When the announcement comes with the opening balcony, a fireworks display, and the like, Maggie smirks. "How about we enjoy some fireworks, and head to the hotel? Pretty sure they attached it to us. I'll buy a really nice room for us."[break][break]

He gets up as the fireworks begin, and as his food is done, he takes a glass to head outside to see the fireworks, only to turn to his two dates. Yes, his dates now.[break][break]

"Come on, ladies. Let's enjoy some fireworks together."
