[attr="class","aurelie"] [attr="class","aurelie_lyrics"]Old friend, new year [attr="class","aurelie_body"]Looking up from her book at the sound of her name, Aurelie had to fight down a thrill of visceral fear at the sight of Caleb Harcourt. She knew immediately it wasn't fair; the one she feared wasn't Caleb at all, but his brother Zev Harcourt, whom he so strongly resembled. But Caleb was taller, and underneath the dark hair, his blue eyes and chiseled face shone with genuine emotion, warmth, and life. The reminders of the brothers' differences, subtle yet stark, drove the fear from her mind. They evoked instead the struggles they'd gone through together, the victories they seized, the losses they suffered, the battles where they fought side by side, and the long, precious periods of peace and prosperity when they could make plans for Motostoke's future. Aurelie's face brightened with a smile. "Caleb! Hi!" she exclaimed, closing her book with a snap. He came, she thought with mingled surprise and relief. He's here. With that relief came an outpouring of cheerful, sociable everyday chatter, as Aurelie beamed at him in welcome and gestured to the empty chair opposite hers at the small table. "I'm so glad you agreed to have lunch with me! Please, sit down. Have you been to this café before?
"If not, I recommend their croissant sandwich with ham, Gruyère, lettuce, and tomato! Their clam chowder's really good too," she went on blithely. "Or their lemon poppyseed muffins, if you're in more of a dessert mood."As she spoke, the redhead studied Caleb's face thoughtfully, struck by how familiar and yet how strange he felt now. In real life, they'd only met once or twice before being thrown into the medieval memory-Galar world with dozens of other trainers. And since coming back from that, both their lives had only gotten more complicated and chaotic than ever. She swallowed, thinking of some of those complications, particularly in his life. Were those dark shadows under Caleb's eyes the vestiges of torture and betrayal? Did he move more stiffly now than she remembered, hampered by injuries she couldn't even guess at? Were he and Isaac fellow Rangers now, happily protecting and rescuing Pokemon, being League heroes together? Tears stung her eye briefly at the thought, and she didn't know if it was sadness or happiness that prompted them. "Thank you for coming," she burst out, pushing away the uncomfortable thoughts. "I wasn't sure you would, given how..." Aurelie groped for the right word for a moment. "...busy we've all been.
"How have you been, Caleb? Are you doing all right? I know you've been through...a lot." It was an understatement, if what she'd heard was right. "I thought it would be nice to catch up, after all this time."[newclass=.aurelie]width:420px;padding:40px;background:#862939;[/newclass] [newclass=.aurelie img]height:100px;width:100px;padding:15px;border:1px solid #fff;border-radius:100px;[/newclass] [newclass=.aurelie_lyrics]text-align:center;font-family:verdana;font-size:9px;text-transform:uppercase;color:#eee;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass] [newclass=.aurelie_body]width:420px;padding:40px;background:#222;font-size:14px;line-height:16px;text-align:justify;font-family:calibri;color:#aaa;letter-spacing:.5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.aurelie_tag]text-align:center;font-size:12px;[/newclass] [newclass=.aurelie_tag a]font-size:12px;[/newclass] [newclass=.cred]text-align:center;font-size:8px;color:rgb(132, 132, 132);letter-spacing:1px;font-family:verdana;[/newclass] [newclass=.cred a]color:rgb(132, 132, 132);font-size:8px;letter-spacing:1px;font-family:verdana;[/newclass]
