Adrian finished exchanging the necessary information with the daycare caretakers, entrusting his meowth, Miser, to their care. He'd been a naughty kitty, hassling any and everything that was roughly the shape of a circle. That had meant pokemon, pokeballs and other possessions of the passersby he'd encountered with meowth on his person. It needed to stop, he needed a break.

Miser didn't know that, but he didn't particularly care either. There were things he wanted, things that he knew he could take, and so he did as he would. His claws were made for scratching and snatching. It was the only passion he ever had.

Meowth was carried through the other side of the building, consequently taken through a door leading outside, where the daycare lady set him on the ground in a large, fenced off playground.

He'd never seen any of these pokemon, and didn't hold a particular interest in socializing. But the sun hung bright in the sky, the warmth comforting despite the brisk breeze, so he curled up and basked in the starlight. He was content with that.

For poor little Sneasel, things had been dreadfully dull for the past few days. Ever since Nathaniel had dropped him off at the Daycare for a little R&R after their rough outing protecting a Wooloo flock he had been nothing but bored. It had taken him no more than a single night to swipe anything of any significant value or interest to him from both the other Pokemon at the Daycare and the staff. What made things boring was the fact that no one seemed to care, barely lifting a finger to even go looking for their lost property. It took all fun out of the game when the other team refused to even play.

And so Sneasel had been forced to simply lay about, a far cry from his usual days while travelling with Nathaniel. His human friend always put him, and all of his other teammates through their paces on almost a daily basis. So laying about in the shaded branches of a Berry tree was more than a little easy going. Their hadn't even been any new additions to the Day Care area for a while, that was until one of the staff came out the back door and placed a Meowth out amongst the uninteresting rabble. Sneasel peered down from his perch at the newcomer, his eyes zeroing in on the golden medallion affixed to it's head, a shame that he couldn't swipe that. He'd actually tried once back in Motostoke city. It was the first time he'd ever seen a Mewoth and hadn't been aware that he couldn't simply dash past, grab the medallion and make a quick getaway. Needless to say it was a rather awkward day, with Nathaniel forcing him to apologize to a severely upset stall owner.

The Mewoth seemed more than happy to simply lay about in the sun. Sneasel thought it a grand idea to test the newcomer and see if they might be of any entertainment. With a deft flick of his hand Sneasel sent a minuscule Icy Wind towards Meowth. Certainly not enough to actually hurt, but enough to give the cat a definitive chill. With the small gust of arctic wind on course, Sneasel once more sat casually on his perch, looking away from the intended target but still watching out of the corner of his eyes. This should be fun.

Miser had been complacent with his lazing about when a frigid wind blew his way, enough to bypass the coat of fur clinging to his hide, prompting one of its eyelids to peel back as it observed the surroundings. The wind hardly blew, and strangely enough when it did, the directions did not coincide.

Its lone pupil fixated on the other pokemon, eyeing them warily but without conviction, that was until it spotted the sneasel by the tree. It lingered on it for a time, before closing its eyes once more, readjusting itself by curling up. But it kept its ears trained on them, digging into the dirt with its retractile claws, making itself quite at home.

Miser began to fixate on the sneasel and the targeted harassment, brooding over ways to exact some payback, plotting the repercussions to anticipated aggression the sneasel might carry out.

The small Icy Wind was met with little more than an agitated glance and a tightening of posture. Though Sneasel let out a quiet snicker, his battle-tuned senses could tell that the Mewoth was getting ready, for what he couldn't say. Either way, Sneasel hoped that it would at least be interesting, things had been far too boring here of late. Now he had to figure something else out, as it seemed clear the Mewoth was still a rather unwilling participant in this little game.

Sneasel looked around for something, anything that he could do to try and incite some measure of response. The sight of one of the Daycare Staff walking about the large enclosure got him thinking. A moment of inspiration hit Sneasel and he jumped to his feet, running over to the trunk of the tree he sat in and stuffing his hand inside a small opening. After a moment of rifling through his stash he withdrew the hand, now clasping a rather expensive looking Phone that he had 'appropriated' from the Daycare Staff. A brief moment of concentration and Sneasel was on the move. Normally he was already an incredibly fast Pokemon, it being a specialty of his, but now he was almost a blur. He leapt down from his perch, darting across the grass almost too quick to follow, running right past Meowth and towards the Daycare Staff. He tugged on their leg, getting their attention and putting on a marvelous act of innocence. He pointed back towards the Meowth and ultimately the Mobile Phone that he had deftly placed in front of the cat Pokemon. When a rather unhappy look passed over the Daycare Staff's face, Sneasel, no longer the center of attention, cast a wicked grin towards Mewoth. This was unfolding quite well.

Meowth tensed as he noticed the sneasel making a mad dash with something in hand, but took no action, lying still as it was passed by. Miser could only quietly consider what the pokemon was up to, ignorant to the circumstance until the Daycare Lady sneasel had tattled to came over to where he lie upon the ground. The phone plucked from its place, the Daycare personnel simply made a scolding remark, but knew better than to blame a pokemon for their playful nature. Miser yawned.

The Daycare Lady couldn't help but question the situation as she stalked away: The phone had gone missing well before the meowth had been registered to the Daycare, but she didn't question it beyond that for lack of caring. And yet...

Miser was able to interpret events well enough, conscious of sneasel's efforts, but couldn't be bothered to bring itself to action even now. But he began to brood heavily, kneading his claws through the soft earth, sharpening them with every stroke.

If this sneasel wanted to start something, Miser couldn't care less, unless it came to crossing claws.

Sneasel huffed indignantly at the Day Care worker's refusal to, well, do anything. And the Meowth! The Meowth was being such a spoilsport as well. It was like he was the only one around here who had any concept of fun! A stray thought burst into Sneasel's mind, remembering something his Partner had once told him, that sometimes not everyone saw what he did as a game. Sneasel frowned slightly as he mulled it over in his head. He supposed he had been a little mean. The Mewoth didn't know him after all. Sighing to himself, Sneasel knew that he'd have to go and apologize, his Partner would be upset with him otherwise. Not that it was likely Nathaniel would ever find out, but still, Sneasel knew and that was enough.

He walked slowly in the Mewoth's direction, noticing how guarded and on edge it seemed to be, not that Sneasel could blame it. He hadn't really meant anything by it, just a bit of fun, but the Meowth probable didn't see it that way. His pace slowed as he came up to Mewoth, his clawed hands raised in front of him to try and put Meowth at ease. When Sneasel felt he was a comfortable distance from Meowth he sat down on the grass, staring at the cream cat.

"You're not much fun, you know that?"
he said quietly as he crossed his arms and looked slightly off to the side, an indignant expression on his face.

"....Sorry." he muttered, hoping to put things to right.

Meowth watched through the slit of an eye as the Sneasel approached him, taking a sit nearby while it tried to explain itself. It had a rather backhanded way of starting the conversation, Miser couldn't help but note, but it was still a step in a better direction. "Meow mow..." ("Nor you.")

Meowth flicked its tail idly while Sneasel apologized, although Miser was still contemplating whether it should forgive them. What harm had they really done, at the end of it all? Enough hadn't transpired for Miser to hold a grudge; that required too much effort. So instead he relaxed, allowing the pokemon to breathe a sigh of relief.

But the dull silence between them wasn't fulfilling, and he was sure Sneasel wouldn't take kindly to being ignored. Answering his apology with a rumbling purr reverberating through its chest, Miser took a moment to consider Sneasel's perspective, one they happened to share.

"Meow mow meowth mow meow...?"
("How long have you been here..?")

Miser could feel it too, the dread of being left here for very long, desperately wishing his trainer would return to avail him of this bothersome place. Sure, the daycare was nice enough, but they were all strangers sharing a cramped space here. Of course they would get a little antsy waiting for the trainer to pick them up and resume their journeying.

Luckily Meowth seemed happy to live and let live at this point. Sneasel wasn't sure exactly how Nathaniel would have reacted if he came back for him and learnt that he'd gone and started a big row win the Daycare, but he knew it wouldn't have been good. He'd sent him here for a reason he supposed, for exactly this kind of behavior. Nathaniel might have been a little upset with him, but it was Corviknight that Sneasel was really afraid of. He was like the big brother to all of Nathaniel's Pokemon, having been with their Trainer from the beginning and he had mastered the fine art of the disappointed stare. Mewoth speaking to him broke him from his thoughts.

"Sneasel, Snea Snea, Sneasel Snea."
("Only a couple of days. The Boss should be back soon though.") He said in answer to the question, fretting over his claws subconsciously as he spoke.

Nathaniel had said he wouldn't be much longer than that, that he just had a little business to take care before he'd be back and they could then make their way to Mossdeep City by boat for the holidays, something Sneasel was very much looking forward to. He looked back to Meowth, gesturing lazily around the Daycare enclosure.

"Snea, Sneasel Snea Sneasel?"
("How about you? How long are you stuck here with the rest of these boring saps?") he asked.

Miser gave pause to consider the question. Adrian hadn't told him much, or perhaps it was that Miser didn't pay him any mind, taking their companionship for granted. It hadn't bothered him so much, but that was because he lacked introspection. Perhaps he too had been left behind, if only because of his bothersome nature...

"Meow mow, meeeowth..."
("Not long, I hope...")

Though both sat there in idle contemplation, hardly stirring save to scratch an itch, or to appease a nervous tic. Meowth's tail flicked lazily, although it was deep in thought, considering what it would be like to wait days for Adrian to return for him. If he returned at all... No, Adrian wouldn't do that.

...Right?

"Meow... Me meowth mow meow mowth meowth?"
("Hmm... Do you think it's 'cause we were bad?")

Miser locked eyes with Sneasel, considering the plausibility, wondering if they had given their trainers too much grief. It might've been the case for at least one of them, though Miser wasn't going to single either of them out. But it was Sneasel.

Meowth's ears perked up at the sound of the daycare door opening from the opposite side of the building, where the visitor's entrance opened into the receptionist's office. He could hear someone...

"Meow mow meowth...?"
("Did you hear...?")

As if on cue Meowth's trainer would arrive in timely fashion, having finished their various obligations and finally deciding to return for their pokemon.

"Meowth meow mow, meowth meowth..."
("I guess this is it, see ya...")

Miser slowly strolled over towards the doorway, anticipating his return to Adrian's care. But halfway over he stopped, turning back to Sneasel, placing a paw on his shoulder with a silent nod as if to say: 'Don't worry. I'm sure he'll be back for you soon.'

And with that they went their separate ways.

@creepy

I'm sorry for how long this took and how it went, I figured you'd want to wrap it up as quickly as possible to get the evolution regardless, so I'm posting this as my exit. When you post, apply for Mod Req to close the thread and get mission rewards, if you don't mind please.
