Jack clapped gleefully as Isaac stripped off his shirt. The world was a dark and shitty place but in his heart he knew that the more abs out there then the better off everyone would be. Somewhat counter to his nature, Jack shrugged Isaac's shirt over his own head, thankful at how kind his new friend was.[break][break]

I wonder if Aurelie will take her shirt off too. I wonder how many shirts I could wear at one time.[break][break]

"Yeah, just like he said!" Jack excitedly pointed to Isaac as he valiantly saved Jack from having to answer the difficult questions that Aurelie had leveled at him. Instead he hopped up and down the bottom few steps while attempting to make whooshing wind noises with his mouth. "It was just like that," he clarified to her, struggling to explain the mechanics behind their mode of travel in his inebriated state.[break][break]

A loud growl of his stomach interrupted his train of thought. Didn't we have a take-away container? A puzzled expression settled over his features as he examined his two empty hands and their surroundings, unable to find the food he was certain he had left the bar with.[break][break]

"Popcorn," he announced suddenly as if a lightbulb had flickered on within his head. Unsteadily, he turned and lunged up the stairs, heading directly to the kitchen to loudly bang around in his girlfriend's cabinets in search of food.

An electric thrill ran up his arm and down his spine as Aurelie kissed his fingers. He shivered with pleasure at the contact before she pulled him along to the nearest hiking path.[break][break]

"It wouldn't surprise me that whoever built the station had natural beauty in mind. Protecting that is a big part of the job, they probably thought it'd be nice to be able to conviently enjoy it once in awhile rather that the constant fight to maintain and defend it," Jack said, his mind wandering to whatever historical Ranger had set up the Verdanturf station. It would be nice to enjoy things every once in awhile.[break][break]

A little laugh escaped him at the thought of making out with his coworkers. "That sounds like a pretty good lunch break, but there's not many Rangers who work out of this station so the make out selection is really poor," he teased as he snuck a quick kiss at the corner of her mouth. He added, "I've never actually been up there. I've always been meaning to go but never got around to it. I'm really happy you had this picked out for a date!"[break][break]

At the sight of the food trucks, his stomach rumbled loudly. "Just like old times, hm? Well in that case we had better get one of everything and make sure that you don't sit on any precarious edges while you eat!"

"Now, do it!" Jack shouted as Courroux moved clear.[break][break]

Harpe angled his blade upward as a coruscating beam of light burst skyward. Even the Kartana seemed confused as the flashy show, the puzzled look still evident on its face when the searing beam of the z-move exploded down from the sky. Jack shielded his eyes from the blast and when he looked again, all that was left was a smoking crater.[break][break]

His breath heaved from his in relief as he turned to Aurelie, uncertain of whether to lecture her for the insane stunt she had just pulled trying to record the Kartana on her phone or thank her for her battle strategy that had allowed them to survive. After a slight shake of his head, he settled on neither option while they were still within the danger of the Ultra Crater.[break][break]

"C'mon, I've got one more gift and then we should get out of here," he said, doing a decent job of keeping emotion from his voice.[break][break]

Whether by luck or by their exceedingly cautious movement, they were able to descend again into another crater. Jack presented his Dragonair and an eerie wind rustled the tags on the bamboo as the crater accepted a dragon's jewel. The large moon that had appeared in the sky grew brighter above them.

"Mmh," he acknowledged the information from Beau, not bothering to return Harpe to his pokeball. Instead, he whistled loudly, giving the signal to retreat. The grunts under his command immediately stopped looting the bodies of the League officers and nearby buildings to begin their withdrawal.[break][break]

Jack turned and followed Beau up the street, leering at the way the man's uniform stretched over his muscular backside. Behind him, a thin trail of blood reddened the street, dripping from his Aegislash's blade.[break]

His hair stood on end and sweat beaded on his skin from the combined attack on the the Unown-M. The little glyph flickered around but everywhere seemed to be filled with charged electricity or burning flame. It wasn't long before the Unown just wasn't fast enough and a crackling charge stunned it long enough to be swept up in the roaring flames.[break][break]

"I'm sorry, little buddy," Jack murmured as the fainted pokemon fell to the floor of the cavern. He silently vowed to learn more about the rare pokemon from Naomi Sato the next time he saw her.[break][break]

"I don't like when bad people force pokemon do bad things," he grumbled to Caleb as the man appeared at his side. Jack leaned down to rifle unceremoniously through the DRK Triad's pockets but came up empty. The man began to stir back to consciousness, back Jack was quick to grab his hair and smack his head back into the stone beneath them.[break][break]

"Let's get the fuck out of here, mate," Jack said to Caleb as he offered a cheeky fist bump.[break][break]

Watts growled at the approaching Sneasler, catching Jack off guard. He had been intent on trying to collect as much mochi as possible for disposal but somehow the toxic chained pokemon had snuck up on them. Kneeling as he was, Jack could see the wicked gleam of the pokemon's claws as if it had gotten a thick clear-coat nail polish applied to its already wicked blades.[break][break]

"Time to go," he called to his Boltund as he chucked a pokeball at the Sneasler and began to retreat with his sack of toxic mochi.[break][break]

Jack was repulsed by the monkey statue spattered with the gore of toxic chains. The people kneeling around it were fixated on the effigy, chanting and invoking the odd figure. Horrified, Jack recognized one of his neighbors from Verdanturf to be one of the transfixed worshippers. In spite of Jack's effort to rouse them, the continued on as if he was not even there.[break][break]

Enraged, Jack gestured violently at his Sirfetch'd. His anger did not abate even after the brutal swing of his pokemon's leek blade smashed apart the statue. His face thunderous, he helped the disoriented worshippers to their feet.

Monsoon rains battered Jack as he approached the shattered bridge near where the Latias struggled against the toxic chains. Concern bubbled in his stomach seeing something as impressive and beautiful as the Eon Pokemon affected by the chain's poisonous influence. Well, either that or it was just more of the nausea he had been experiencing on and off lately.[break][break]

"Give us a break in the weather, yeah?" Jack asked his Mismagius as he swiped strands of wait hair away from his eyes. He couldn't heard the sounds of his pokemon's mystical chanted over the rain but soon an artificial sunny day pushed back the rainy weather around them enough for Jack to see the bridge ahead.[break][break]

"Hmph, now for our next obstacle," Jack murmured as a sharp pain hit his abdomen while he eyed the damaged bridge.

As Jack blinked the stars from his eyes and unsteadily heaved himself to his feet, Zeraora's guard saved him from another blast of Hidden Power. Fighting off the haze that was clouding his head, Jack signaled for Iron Moth to attack the Unown-M.[break][break]

"Mrh, burn it up," Jack mumbled, as Iron Moth's hovering took on the precise movements of a fiery dance. As flames flashed out from its exhaust vents, the little glyph pokemon popped out of existence, reappearing to the left as it neatly avoided the attack.[break][break]

"Not fair," he grumbled as he dove out of the way of another earth-shattering blast of hidden power from the Unown, "Gonna have to do something it can't dodge.[break][break]

He didn't dare spare a glance at Caleb as he pushed himself to his feet from where he had rolled next to the started DRK Triad operative. Without thinking, Jack pulled back his fist and punched the man square in the jaw.[break][break]

His breath froze in his throat as Aurelie's phone began to play back the recording of the Kartana. He was a second behind her are their hands went to their pokeballs and as he burst from the cover of the bamboo, he was already releasing Harpe.[break][break]

The Kartana were on them in a flash, their razor-sharp limbs clanging against the Aegislash's king's shield. Even with both Jack and Aurelie defending their position, the Kartanas' onslaught was fierce. While they were holding their own, Jack could already see the inevitable end if they didn't do something drastic.[break][break]

"Aurelie, cover us!" Jack shouted over the sounds of the fighting, "Harpe, we need Excalibur Galatine to finish them off!"[break]

EXCALIBUR GALATINE | STEEL-TYPE[break]aegislash charges for ONE TURN before firing an unblockable attack that is always super-effective.

His Aegislash began glowing with power as it charged up the z-move behind his shield.

Sweat poured off him as another wave of nausea hit, causing him to reach out and steady himself against a nearby rock. Ahead of him, his Iron Moth dodged silently between several Tinkaton as they swung furiously with their infected hammers.[break][break]

Flames crackled as Iron Moth's fiery dance melted into the Tinkaton as it wove through the horde. One of the Tinkaton hurled it's hammer, though Iron Moth shifted slightly and the hammer only clipped one of its wing panels. Using the toxic chain, it yanked the hammer back and slammed it into the Paradox Pokemon with a resounding clang. Iron Moth flew into a massive tera crystal formation before falling to the ground.[break][break]

Jack reached for a pokeball but another wave of nausea had him hurling onto the stones neck to him. When he looked up, terastallization energies were dissipating around Iron Moth as its surface was coated with a crystalline sheen. Jack's mouth dropped open at the unprompted transformation even as he recalled his pokemon and made a hasty retreat toward other League forces fighting the swarm.
