She giggles softly under her breath at the display. When the Trapinch shuffles to her side, she lifts her free hand out of the water to brush her fingertip against the Pokemon's smooth mouth. It recoils from the damp, settling into a grumpy-like curled up ball. It huffs, and Stormy turns her attention back to Miles.[break][break]

His mention of his promotion brings a complex mess of expression and delivery. The man's voice seems quiet, reluctant to share, but his smile tells a different story. She isn't sure what, at first, to make of it, and so she chooses to wait and watch, listening to what else he had to say.[break][break]

It occurred to her again that neither of them really spoke at length about anything pertaining to work. They often chose to coexist without the extra baggage, more interested in each others company than what company they worked for.[break][break]

The woman's attention shifts abruptly to their fingers entwined next to her. She can feel his anxiety with the tug of his hand, the way he tightens his grip in an effort to find comfort. She lends it, without question, but she watches him carefully.[break][break]

"Have you spoken to them about it? There's nothing worse than not feeling like your voice is being heard. Like you're treading water while everyone else is sprinting."[break][break]

He loosens his grip and she shifts her weight in the water to be in front of him instead of next to him.[break][break]

His sarcasm settles the anxious energy in her stomach with an answer she hadn't known she needed until he'd spoken it out loud. The reminder of their dancing brings a small smile to her face as she laughs.[break][break]

A small exhale as he kisses her forehead. The man's warmth remains like the beat of a heart against her skin, cold where he retreats. She watches as he pulls away from her to step into the bath. With his back turned to her, she takes a moment to strip her own robes in favor of the towel. It is tucked snugly around her before she, too, follows him into the depths.[break][break]

And where his hand finds hers beneath the surface, she eagerly fits her fingers in his once again. Like a drug she finds herself addicted, craving his touch with fervor. To be apart from him was to be cold, and it had been a long time since she'd felt the cold.[break][break]

"Busy, but good. Poked and prodded a bit this time, but I've been officially given a clean bill of health."[break][break]

She alludes subtly to the examination she had undergone, a mild slip of the tongue. It wasn't exactly anything to be kept under a tight lid, but she assumed it wasn't something that should be spoken of so freely with just anyone.[break][break]

But was Miles just anyone, anymore?[break][break]

"What about you? How have you been?"[break][break]

The temptation to say more is cut short. It was becoming readily apparent to her in the recent days that hearing from him in any capacity was something she looked forward to.[break][break]

But she ultimately scoffs at his teasing and his ceaseless flattery. Her free hand waves them away, a 'pah' the only answer he'd receive. 'Someone so cherished with a bad date', as if that were even possible- either topics in that statement.[break][break]

The woman's attention is promptly redirected, however, by the steam in the next area and the humidity that sticks to her skin. But rather than dread it, she lets out a long, relieved sigh. Relaxation seems to set in long before she'd ever reach the water, and she squeezes her fingers through his again, a soft reminder of her sincere appreciation for his efforts.[break][break]

"I could get used to this view."[break][break]

When she says this, she not-so-subtly glances Miles up and down as well, but her cheeky grin is quickly turned back to the hot springs ahead of them. Stormy relinquishes his hand while he calls out his two Pokemon, and watches with amusement as the group shuffle off to the side for babysitting duty. Her attention remains on them even as Miles undresses, choosing to be respectful despite how little she'd seen him in days prior.[break][break]

"Is that right? That must be why it is such a cherished and sought-out tourist area. Though I guess that makes me sound like a tourist, myself."[break][break]

Just as she frowns slightly at the thought that she might be one of the people attracted to the spot for its cultural history as a guise to just take a swim, arms are wrapped around her and her feet shuffled closer to his. His motion is sudden and to that degree she is clumsy, wincing slightly with an awkward chuckle as she stubs her toe on his.[break][break]

"Very romantic.. but are you sure? There's not at least one other person? Maybe a person who hasn't just tripped all over your feet?"[break][break]

Flattery and his closeness make her face warm with a blush, but she smiles up at him even still.[break][break]

"Mmm... I can't wait."[break][break]

There is a sultry growl to her tone as she eliminates the distance between them. Mindful, of course, of the toothy little horror in his arms, she is careful to put her hands out of reach of the little gremlin and in reach of his.[break][break]

Her fingers slide purposefully between his before squeezing. The woman's warmth is immediate, though merely only a taste of what he had already experienced the last time he'd seen her. She seemed calmer, in some way.[break][break]

"Obviously. But.. Lilycove is really nice, too."[break][break]

For a moment her mind had jumped to Rustboro - but with that jump came the lurch of a heavy heart. She neglected to dwell on it in favor of Miles' relaxing presence, choosing happiness over her heavy grief.[break][break]

"But if you're fishing for good ideas, Miles, I'd be happy to see you any day of the week- anywhere."[break][break]

Stormy's breath hitches, however, at the end of her statement as Miles' admission comes to the forefront of her thought. Warmth spreads across her cheeks immediately, and she nervously worries at the man's thumb while she's holding his hand. There is an awkward chuckle that she finally emits and she glances away from him.[break][break]

"You don't look so bad yourself."[break][break]

Radio static clears away gradually the more Miles drifts from the topic. Slowly, Stormy relaxes enough that she blinks away the awkwardness of his question and her response to focus on his explanation of the situation. Eventually, the woman shifts her attention from the man to the three mouthy little Trapinch.[break][break]

"I don't think there's anything foolish about lending a hand where you're able."[break][break]

He offers his hands and she instinctively takes them, not because of his intent but because she simply wanted to.[break][break]

"Stop, stop, stop, Miles. Seriously, I like the unexpected."[break][break]

The woman smiles, amusement shifting the tilt of her lip into a sort of half-smile as she's lost in a breathless laugh. His attention strays to the Trapinch, and with it, his hands, and Stormy pulls her hands back to her sides to watch the four of them for a moment.[break][break]

"No way! I absolutely will not allow this-- there are two of us, it doesn't make any sense at all for one person to do all of the work. I'm happy to spend the day with you-- and the babies. It'll be fun."[break][break]

She gasps, then, as the Trapinch in his arms begins to nibble on his fingers in what she could only assume was painful. The woman's expression softens into painful sympathy. She shrugs at him, breaking into another warm smile.[break][break]

Where Miles considered himself to not be father material, it would soon become apparent that Stormy was not exactly motherly in that same strain. Her own home life had not been the most ideal given the literal change of hands and person changing her diapers she'd experienced. Old enough to retain a fuzzy memory of her birth mother and raised to understand right off the hop that she was adopted - life had come hard and fast for her.[break][break]

But up until this jolting realization, Stormy is more than happy to accompany Miles in another date. Was it a date? He hadn't specified, but she had felt excited for it anyway. Excited enough that she'd dressed up for him and spent extra time getting ready where she would have originally left with minimal effort.[break][break]

Upon meeting up with the man, however, Stormy's expression is bright and inviting. That changes to surprise and a nervous smile when he greets her with a nervous excitement and a jarring question. She opens her mouth to say something, to say anything, really, but nothing comes to mind because her brain is short-circuiting.[break][break]

Kids? Wha-- does he think I'm pregnant?[break][break]

Her stomach twists instinctively and she forces an awkward smile.[break][break]

"Excuse me?"[break][break]

But just as soon as she says this, three Trapinch peek their heads out from behind Miles' leg, one at a time and one on top of the other. They grin their toothy grin and stare up at her with beady eyes. It's charming if it weren't coming directly after such a blatantly pointed question. He'd been making a joke, right? This cute turn of events wasn't just a coincidence.. right?[break][break]

Given the awkwardness of the situation, Stormy nervously chuckles.[break][break]

"Then prove it and help me fix this. Call off the taunt and let the Pokemon go. For all of your talk of this being inexcusable, I still see you as nothing but a lowlife shit picking on the defenseless. This is a Pokemon, you absolute piece of shit. What could you possibly need with it that was so important you resorted to violence and torture? That is inexcusable."[break][break]

She is seething, her emotions so blatantly obvious by the temperature of her skin. The woman is molten, flaming, a blaze of blinding rage. This man professed pretty words but they were empty and meaningless. They were a way to distract and dissuade her. But it wouldn't work because she was more focused, more driven than he might ever be.[break][break]

"Sehkmet, channel the flames away from the village. We need to control the fire before it spreads any further."[break][break]

Fortunately, help would arrive shortly in the form of the fire brigand, armed to the teeth in water-type Pokemon equipped to deal with a disaster like this. [break][break]

But not before the fires had already swallowed whole countless trees in the immediate area. Sehkmet has all but used the remainder of her mega-evolved form to beat back the fire and keep it contained. She looks to the man's Houndoom for some degree of aid, regardless of who's 'side' they were on.[break][break]

"Don't you even think about laying another hand on this defenseless Pokemon."[break][break]

As if on cue, Aegislash reaffirms his position with a sheen of iron defense. The Smeargle who had attempted a jungle healing earlier seems to have bbeen effective in her task. The Zarude and child remain weak but are stabilizing, wrapped up in the earth that the Smeargle had manipulated to protect them. [break][break]

Stormy, now rain-soaked and defiant, feels her wings sizzling with the rain as she moves to fly over and hover above the Zarude. She is challenging in her stance, and the message is clear:[break][break]

Rocket best leave, or at least lend aide.[break][break]

Where his mind is brimming with thought, with possibility, with the first winking flicker of affection deeper than just the brush of their skin, Stormy's mind is blank. Aside from her hunger, her insatiable need to dominate and to feel something, she is avoiding the adoration, the affection, the instinctive craving to be more than just temporary. [break][break]

But temporary was all that she felt she could offer right now, all she had the capacity to give. [break][break]

And yet despite her intent, she fits against his chest like he might be the missing puzzle piece to make her whole. It is easy, comfortable, his arms a warm welcome. Their kisses are clumsy, desperate, longing and she does not pause for breath. Each brush of skin is like fire both in her lungs and across the bareness of skin. It doesn't take them long to disperse from his backyard to make their way deeper. [break][break]

Stormy sleeps almost like the dead up until the point in which Miles curls closer to her. It encourages a quiet sigh as she buries her cheek deeper into the softness of his pillows. Her body thrums with warmth, rekindled again with his cuddling. She does not recall falling back to sleep, only that the presence at the door to his room is alarming. Eyes watch her until she opens them, and she gasps in shock, jolting suddenly and pulling the covers up with her.[break][break]

Something else that is pink finally catches her attention, mostly because she's taken a break to breath something other than the dirt she's kicked up so far. She sneezes into her elbow with ferocity, startling the Oricorio that had strutted her way onto the scene.[break][break]

Her Minior approaches rapidly, stopping just short of the little pink danger. It appears that the Pokemon is positively capitvated by the Oricorio, and Stormy rubs dirt from her eyes in time to attempt a capture. She already had an Oricorio at home, but the cute little birds had quickly become a favourite of hers.[break][break]

Eventually, of course, Stormy releases the Pokemon to hang around nearby. The Pokemon were flock-type Pokemon, and chances were if hers stuck around, others would show up soon.[break][break]

Stormy is so focused on her task of mining right through the wall and out the other side that when a Shellos creeps past her she is completely unaware. The Minior that has stuck around greets it with a spin of its pink floaty form, but ultimately, the Shellos doesn't stick around when it hasn't been given any other attention.[break][break]

How quickly the sky had turned dark and brooding, how quickly the sun had been swallowed whole by the storm. And yet it only worked to make her skin crawl with anticipation and desire. Desire to keep going, to push further, to come out on the other side battered, bruise, but alive. The two are more alike than they give themselves credit for, because they both pull back for the sake of the other. Perhaps it was fear misconstrued as protectiveness for their friend that convinced them to give up on their egos.[break][break]

Or maybe it is the fear she can feel rolling like thunder against her legs. The rain beats down on her, soaking her to the bone. It is impossible to see without one hand raised to block it from pelting her face. She gasps, the intensity of the storm stealing her breath away. It was as if she were drowning hundreds of feet above the ocean.[break][break]

The woman glances back at the weak beacon of light streaming behind her. Not even Moltres' influence could keep that flame burning hot, it seemed. [break][break]

Angelo's voice, though muffled, cuts through the deafening white noise to draw her attention back. He peels off from their trajectory with the suggestion that they land. She follows, though it is mostly her own Charizard's relief that enables this. If she had her way, she likely would have pressed on.[break][break]

Wings unfurl to catch the wind and turn them around. She follows the winking light of his Charizard's tail, and the closer they come to the ground the warmer her hands seem to be, as if she is lending her own remainder reserves of strength to take them home. They land with a resounding thud, and Angelo wastes no time in returning his own. Without Rhea's warmth, Stormy feels goosebumps spread against her skin.[break][break]

Sehkmet's shuddering frame is soon returned as well, tucked back into a pokeball so that it might not succumb to the rain.[break][break]

And now nausea sets in as she wades through ankle and knee deep waters, following the man ahead of her as they make their way for shelter. But with every step she takes the boat groans, a whispered threat to pull her under. The boat sways, unsteady in the storm. Her heart beats harder, louder, and despite the fact that she is mere steps behind him it feels as though she is falling behind. [break][break]

"Angelo?"[break][break]

Genuine fear makes her voice tremble, and she isn't sure what it is she's calling out to him for.[break][break]

Fingers slip through dark hair, thumb stroking high cheekbones. Her touch is delicate but confident, laying claim to skin. Intensity makes her warm and she is lost in the sensation of the fire burning in her belly that she doesn't notice if she might, perhaps, be too warm for him. But he doesn't pull away and, in fact, only grows closer. It is exhilarating, addicting, and she indulges. She is greedy, she is selfish, she is caught up in desire and a want for more.[break][break]

Breathless, she is acutely aware of his hand on her thigh, of the subtle way his thumb presses into flesh. She is watching him but it's clear her attention is divided. Temptation is a bittersweet taste in her mouth. He challenges her and she rises to it, chest rising and falling with quiet anticipation. Stormy smiles, a crawling, overconfident smirk. It is a taunt, a command for him to dive deeper, to pursue what it is she can see brimming beneath his depth.[break][break]

He is the deep dark and she is the undying light, illuminating every inch of them both. [break][break]

There is no chance for her to reiterate her teasing as he has already captured her again. There is a roughness in the way he handles her chin, his hand tilting her face up to meet his. She is caught, trapped in a manner that she could easily escape and yet she couldn't. Her wrist is caught in his but she doesn't fight it because there is no need. [break][break]

"I'd like that."[break][break]

This time, she is the one to advance on him. Gone is any timidness or restraint as she moves to eliminate the distance between them. The need to consume, to burn, to lose herself in his touch turns into a ravenous hunger, one that could not be sated with what games they played out here. She is warm enough to make skin sensitive, a superhuman power she possessed. Her lips brush his gently at first in an attempt to let him reciprocate, but impatience encourages her to deepen it.[break][break]

Or at the very least, a nugget of pink. Stormy's pick swings too hard into the surface of the rock, breaking the hard shell that protected the Minior. She pales, horrified, as the little pink Pokemon hovers after falling out of the wall. For some reason, though, it seems some degree of relieved. It spins and twirls as if freed.[break][break]

"I didn't mean to-- are you okay?"[break][break]

The woman sets the pick down hastily before scrambling to pick up the broken pieces of the Minior. Fortunately, it seems that the Pokemon is not at all perturbed. It floats excitedly all around her before returning to the wall. If it can make a noise, it trills as if calling out to something. [break][break]

"I can keep going if that's what you'd like. Just stay clear, I have a wide swing."[break][break]

God, she hated hospitals. Cramped, stuffy, people looking at you with concern or sadness- even if you weren't the one dressed up in bedshirts or whatever the hell they called those sorry excuses for cover-ups- it was awkward and uncomfortable and she wanted to get the hell out of there.[break][break]

But instead, she'd stuck like glue to he spot in the waiting room, anxious to visit the kid who'd gotten herself blown up after that uncomfortable plates meeting in the boonies. She had questions, sure, but mostly she just had concern. She was going to be those hovering goonies poking and prodding and asking for the hundredth time: are you alright?[break][break]

Fortunately, Zac is the one to say it out loud first. He gestures for her to sit in one of the chairs and she takes it gladly, too rattled to properly argue. [break][break]

"Are you hungry, Chryssa? Hospital food is actually garbage, I can pick something up for you to bring back later if you want."[break][break]

His hands shift to pull her closer, to tuck her into him. They meld almost seamlessly, lost in heightened emotions and yet unspoken truths. She finds it too easy to accept his affections, to willingly allow herself to lean into his arms and share this moment. It's.. nice, in a way she hadn't really remembered or felt in a long time.[break][break]

When they do inevitably pull apart she is breathless, without an immediate thought. She laughs because he's funny, because he's kind, because he is real. And when he nuzzles back into the curve of her neck she welcomes it, resting her cheek against his head and enjoying the moment for what it was: a blessing.[break][break]

He speaks and she listens, and by the end she's found she had been idly looking for and stroking his fingers. The connection they've made is addictive, the spark she feels when her fingers brush his is like tempting fate.[break][break]

"I don't know.."[break][break]

Stormy pauses, fingers stilling before pulling away. [break][break]

"I wasn't totally convinced by your previous attempt to thwart me. It was a little weak, honestly."[break][break]

She smirks, holding up her other hand to estimate just how weak it was with the pinch of her fingers. There is hardly any space between them and she moves her attention slowly, dramatically, between her fingers and his smile.[break][break]
