he crosses his arms, smirk plastered all over his expression as he nods sagely.

"so what you're saying is that if i'm a pokemon, i'd be legendary as long as i'm loud with my entrances. hmm, i see, i see. i'll take that into consideration, friendo."

maybe he'll be kyurem since that's the one that could probably kill other legendary pokemon if what happened during meteno incident was an accurate measure. dialga would be good too, since its color matches his hair.

he stops the daydream to talk about their objective in the simulation.

"and that if we want somethin' to happen, we just have to chill? is that it? easy!"

as soon as priam says the last word, souls start to erupt from a rock from behind him. like a maelstrom of spirits, ethereal forms start to dance around them in a vortex, as if to keep them from moving away and forcing them to act.

he lands, and the scenario explains itself.

"speaking of nostalgia..."

they're met with another clash before them. it's a fight of two opposing parties, with them as the third, unrelated party that gets to back up one of them as the deciding factor.

it feels like priam has been in a similar situation before.

"truth or ideals..." he repeats, making it easier for his brain to digest which of the choices they were being forced to choose between by the simulation. "it's... truth, right?"

that's the objective of the simulation: to figure out the truth of the world. priam had always been the type to stick with instructions given to him, and out of these two, one was closer to what they seek.

"that's what i'm talkin' about!" he shouts, surprisingly more enthusiastic than earlier.

he revels with eyes on him. there's a certain type of ecstasy that comes with being perceived for a rat like him. adrenaline shoots up as he gets into the mix with the underboss.

vines were an afterthought. while this had been the first time he's seen her in action, like actual action, he never took the time to watch in awe when there's an audience to impress.

"clap on these!"

temporarily drunk in the rush of the moment, his hands grab on the workbench and lifts it up from the ground. his crowbar clinks on the floors as he switches his weapon for a projectile, tossing it from one end of the room to their onlookers.

it shouldn't kill them, a thought that kept springing back up to his head.

it was priam whose avatar loads in within the next event of the simulation first, with isaac coming in next soon after. it's a nice touch for the creators of the simulator, given the timing of their defeat under the hexenzirkel.

"welcome, welcome!" he greets the other, having emotionally recovered quickly from the loss.

he doesn't perceive the surroundings, which are both equally eerie and intimidating. instead, he focuses on what had transpired earlier, being the chatterbox that he was.

"you really went farther than i did that time! i should've just gotten everyone out! i thought i could stagger gettin' 'em out to buy time, but, eh, i didn't think they wouldn't have the honor to wait for my next 'mon, y'know, especially with how fancy they dress."

he shrugs as he ends his rant with his back against the pillar.

"looks like we're in a graveyard though. do you think it's yveltal? giratina? ooh, if it's darkrai, then we've already got practice with that!"

the same vision invades his head once again. he had been prepared for it since it had been his second go at it, but the uneasy feeling that follows afterward never gets easy.

he shudders when it ends.

"the same thing you did," he answers with a tilt of his head. "we touched it too, and this happened."

time and space start to distort around them, though it differs from the usual transition for shifts in the simulation. it doesn't mean that it doesn't coincide with such.

it had been a trip, and it got priam on the first time around as well.

"hey, did you actually make a wish? what did you-"

there hadn't been enough time to recover from the wishing star messing with their head and talk about what had transpired. as fast as priam could talk, he couldn't fit everything he wanted to say to the admin.

eventually, the scene shifts to something else.

"hell yeah!"

it only took isaac's verbal confirmation for priam to start the riot. the first one out was his espeon, dazzling gleam being fired right off the bat to illuminate the darkness.

as much as he squinted to see faces beyond the curtain of shadows, there was nothing to be gleamed.

"what the-! that's cheating!"

a guzzlord comes next, but before they could do actual damage to the party, an armada shuts them down. unown after unown fires at them from all directions, knocking out both of priam's pokemon before he can take replacements out.

"shit, my bad! isaac, are you-"

priam gets zapped to a new dimension before he can finish his sentence.

"i... i dunno!"

the honest answer gets forced out when he fails to come up with an excuse.

the final whack from the rocket beast finally brings a ditto to come out of its hiding. it transforms into a hole, something that priam doesn't even know was possible.

"you know how we get weird feelings of nostalgia after waking up from that tomb? it's one of those things!" this time, it was triggered by the sight of the wishing star.

he had, after all, worked intensively with fernando during their twenty year stay on galar unbeknown to him.

priam continues talking while he moves, and even as he contemplates on jumping on the ditto-made hole. he sticks one foot first, trying to see if it was just an optical illusion, and upon finding out that it wasn't, steels his resolve for the fall.

"maybe i'm actually a genius in disguise, y'know, and people just don't realize it yet. well, i do, but that's just the natural thing to-"

the only thing that shuts him up is him forcing himself to drop down.

he blinks at her suggestion.

this wasn't what he was used to. most people in the higher echelons of the rocket hierarchy want to hoard everything they can get their hands on, even though it was ultimately junk, just in case it would be useful later on the line.

"you're not going to try to...?"

he stops himself with a smile.

"alright. bet! i gotchu, boss!"

instead of taking a pokemon out, he looks around to look for a weapon instead. he finds a crowbar at the side of a wall, and with it, he starts swinging around, breaking everything like a bull in a china shop.

despite the joy on his expression, priam was venting out frustrations with the world with this act.

"ooh, he said perceived too! he's definitely part of the hexenzirkel, i knew it!"

there would be more had it not been for juicy backstory time with cillian. he stops all train of thought to digest the revelation given to him, but it's the least important part that he clings on.

"i expected for you to at least play the co-op ones, but not the other ones! wow."

before he knew it, a rift opens up. all previous musings have been lost to a new set of questions that he wants to ask the underboss. oversharing meant he was given a pass to continue the subject, or so his logic goes.

"hey, did you play my route too? did that got you hot and flustered? i bet it did!"

he continues to spout nonsense until he has to go through the rift.

the transition to a new scene was too smooth that it felt like the tree before them had been waiting at the other end of the tunnel.

him pulling the stop to his sprint was almost comical, saved only by a last minute reflex to widen his stance to stop him from tripping over the stone statues of pokemon.

"what's this?" he pokes one of them before he looks up and sees the tree. "oh."

it had been familiar to him, and everyone else who had been there during the phenomenon. it was the tree of life, as they have aptly titled the tree. the ivory trunk had been the husk of xerneas before, with the statues reminiscent of hisuian growlithe sculptures they've seen when they traveled inside of it.

"hey, at least this one's friendly, unlike the last one," he comments, his tone getting lighter from the panic earlier. "i wonder if you actually get back to life in this simulation if you die near this."

subconsciously, priam brings out a water-type: a pyukumuku.
