priam conrad and felix gallagher. it's a weird combination that shouldn't work in theory, but priam finds himself oddly comfortable in his presence. perhaps it was because he doesn't hog the spotlight so he can take it.

"make a wish," he tells felix. "i think that's a star."

a wishing star to be exact, but priam can't tell how he could say it.

unironically, he clasps his hands and recites a silent prayer in his head. priam does it for fun, with little hopes that the wish would actually come true.

he turns to the admin, tilting his head to the side as he offers him the choice on how to proceed. "i've already ran this event with someone else before, so you can decide what ya wanna do this time!"

ultimately, it shouldn't matter since with the number of rockets running the simulation, each possibility would be accounted for. at this point, it was just a matter of reliving the experience.

the desert held a special place in priam's heart. adventures with previous rocket beast turned head scientist clayton to explore the ruins that almost killed him and underboss cillian still felt fresh in his memory.

to see the start of the construction of it in the simulation surely felt surreal when he's living the moment.

"this seems nostalgic," priam comments as the worker shows them the star. "it almost makes me want to make wristbands or somethin' outta this."

it's a passing comment that makes priam wonder if it had been part of his daydreams or if it's part of the sea of insight he's had access to after the trip to the tomb of route 120.

he steps forward to look at it more closely as he finds himself surprisingly comfortable around its presence. for a moment, he's willing to bet that the rocket beast with him felt the same.

"your call on what we do with this, boss." does zev like being called boss?

"hexen...zirkel?" priam repeats softly.

it certainly was a new term they just stumbled upon on, unheard of from every circle he knows that exists on hoenn. it wasn't even something that was heard of in the most niche of urban legends.

minus the murmuring that was him burning the name of the organization into memory, he remains composed.

a smirk naturally shows his confidence in his response. "hell yeah, we are."

his eyes meet cillian's. there's a difference in their temperament, and as much as he's certain that the underboss was playing it safe, priam steers the narrative into motion.

this was a simulation. it's alright to take risks.

"we sought the organization out for answers. i ask for entry, if it's possible."

professional phrasing reeks out of priam's uncouth mouth, perhaps forged by exposure to similar mannerisms for the longest time— twenty years to be exact.

priam gladly wears his sygna suit within the weird environment. the lands looked desolate and it felt so eerie that ultra deep sea felt less scary in comparison just because that location had something going on.

the borders just felt like a wasteland.

eyes tries to spot for anything in the horizon as a place of interest, but nothing much appears on the horizon. as far as he knows, they're just random mountains dotted all over the place.

"so, what's the plan here, guys?" he asks his companions. "do we just go to one direction and hope we hit somethin'? that sounds excited, to be honest."

he arrives at the place with the two other people he had visited the mechanical kingdom with. their dynamic left much to be desired, but priam finds enjoyment in everything regardless.

"well, that's not so bad for this world either." not being friendly that is. "gotta keep up that exterior, y'know. something about self-defense mechanism and shit, i dunno psychology."

there was a reason why other members of rocket were cold and distant. there was less to target when they don't present themselves as vulnerable, after all.

not priam though.

"me? heh, i'm just that good that i don't need to worry 'bout all that stuff!" he huffs with pride following his claim. "ya better be good if y'er in rocket. just between you and me, the higher ups get pretty judgey with incompetent grunts. you didn't hear that from me, though!"

he looks down at his gabite, who had been patiently waiting. priam gives him a quick scratch on the head before turning back to sage.

"ya sure you don't have any actual questions? cause i wouldn't want to hold you up on your workout."

immediately after getting home, priam had decided to rush straight to the rocket's baths, getting himself soaked in an effort to alleviate the pain and stress away.

it felt like he did much when he didn't on retrospect. all they did was attack the beast, and suddenly, they were coming out of the cave. he heard those ruinous beasts affect the heart in ways they haven't imagined, and priam prematurely puts the blame on them.

he hears the door handles shift and the entrance open.

"hey!" he calls out as soon as he sees the person coming in. "sorry i didn't wait for ya. i wasn't feelin' right earlier, but i'm fine now! how're ya doin'?"

priam sent him a message earlier to invite him to rocket's communal baths as soon as he realized it. they needed to anyways, especially since they did get caught by the rain on the way out.

in a way, it's nostalgic. the hot springs are where they first got their first real interaction after all.

"tada! i got myself transferred to you."

from one scientist to another, priam brings to put his skills to use by aiding rocket's scientists, one era after the other.

he had taken a break from helping out with the labs after the scuffle with the league at ultra deep sea, using the recent departure of the previous head scientist as a reason. this time, he's back on the scene.

"the remote site just gave us a clear to bring this here, so here ya go."

a protective box containing the radiant seed retrieved from the previous expedition was placed on one of the tables of the labs. it was sealed to the core, requiring both analog and digital locks to open, with sturdy metal plating to protect it from outside elements.

"d'ya still want an introduction or sumthin' from me? i think that's the protocol."

he doesn't bid goodbye to anyone. it wouldn't matter in the end. he'll forget about her and she would cease to exist. though they won, he felt defeated.

priam sits on the ground with his arms across his knees, holding his head down as he listens to farewells and other chatter. a tap on his shoulder brings himself to hold it up. this is where she sees her.

'good morning.'

"it's night."

'hehe, i know. here.'

"what the- my hair's fine as it is."

'you look better when it's pinned up like that. more room to see your face!'

"why are you here?"

'i just wanted to say goodbye. you told me the prophecy meant you'd be going away after this.'

"but you aren't real."

a stinging feeling puts a strain on his head. it's something that has been alien to him for the longest time, his brain having blocked out all signs of it.

sorrow.

it's an emotion that he hasn't experienced for the longest time, having convinced himself that it's something else every time it happens. it's similar to being left by his friends in rocket, but this time, he wasn't ready.

awfully weary for no reason, priam finds his way out of the cave, taking the time to exit while the crowd was busy with their unexplained emotions and the tera crystals of the cave.

as he get out, he feels weight on his side. "this isn't..."

it wasn't the pocket knife he always brought, but it was too light to be used as an actual dagger. he wonders where he got it from, but he shrugs and decides to keep it as his souvenir anyways.

"oh, shit. cool stuff!"

he forces optimism out once again, but it required more effort regardless of how much he has numbed himself from other emotions.

the cold touch of rain doesn't bother him either, but more so now than before. his hair was clipped back after all, preventing it from drooping and covering the face that was to be remembered.

the guzzlord falls in battle, and it's only when his eyes travel from the hulking figure of his dynamaxed ultra beast falling to the ground does he see the sea of bodies littering the battlefield.

names that have been embedded in his head, acquaintances he's had for the twenty years he's lived here, and faces he never will likely see again. priam watches their body succumb to the poison, but they held no meaning in his eyes.

he only cares about a part of this memory, and he knows she wouldn't be here.

★CMa, ★Gntc - ZACIAN and HUMAN HEROES attacking a large SKELETAL DRAGON.

his time at the observatory keeps his mind grounded. he holds little loyalty to the people he had been with, ignoring everyone else's side of the argument in pursuit of the only command that matters in the end: the prophecy.

constellations were nothing but another form of it in his view. the choice to follow or rebel was present, but as a creature of habit, it was difficult to differ from what he was accustomed to.

★Prsm - the black knight attempting to keep a cross-hatch of space together as if it were falling apart.

his samurott replaces his guzzlord. vermillion, aptly named after the seas of his hometown. he feels the surge of energy from his sygna suit activating, giving him the second wind for the next assault.

it was a coin toss whether ★Prsm meant this space or theirs. should it be the former, the choice ultimately boils down if they value their own over this realm. at the end of the day, it's a coin flip, and priam is bad at anything that involves his luck.

★Gntc, ★Lnch - the skeleton making a small celesteela grow exponentially huge.

leaving the skeleton alive meant destruction of galar. he's seen it happen with his own eyes at mossdeep. it's a much crueler end in exchange for a potential escape, but it wasn't like he had any attachment to this place.

...besides her.

he bites his lip. rage fuels the sygna suit, empowering his samurott's strength. they charge at the clash, sticking a knife in his pokemon's side in case anything needs to be purified.

'shit, i didn't know that would happen! my bad!'

he already has a line ready. no one would fault him for this choice if everyone else was doing it. he's not special. he's not able to make a third choice. with only the two presented to him, he's ready to doom this world if need be.

"and that's the last constellation we'll probably discover before the winter solstice. seems pretty targeted, but that's probably just a coincidence. i'd take revenge for druddy, but yeah, i've pretty much decided anyways."

she'll fade alongside the rest of this world. it was unfair, but altogether an inevitability. if he could rewrite the laws of this world, he would, but he couldn't.

once one of the two falls in this fight, it would mark the end of this memory regardless of the conclusion. if their universe was going to be the origin point of destruction, then it would make sense for them to continue acting the role.

priam takes one step, his foot marking the field as he stomps on the ground. TRAINER MOVE: TYPE WISH activates, placing a zone that powers up their dark-type move.

he takes a seamitar from his pokemon. together, they strike necrozma with a ceaseless edge of their own before running off to make room for attacks following their own.

i'll remember, he promises her.
