A cool breeze rushed over land sending any fallen dried leaves into a graceful autumn dance. It also aided in carrying the incense scent further down the path, attracting any ghost pokemon in the area. In fact, it didn’t take too long for yet another ghost type to make an appearance. It was Azura’s sensitive nose that picked up its sent, a snarl vile snarl ripped through her throat as her lips lifted to reveal her pearly whites. [break][break]

Maverick came to halt, warm crimson colored eyes flickered form left to right. Ghost types were nothing to scoff at. Many of the legends around ghost types are supernatural events or some even curses. And as the man was about to moved on, Azula found the said ghost type. It was hard to miss, the golurk being a massive pokemon. Yet as Azula snarled at it and tested the wild creature, it only lingered for a few minutes before fleeing. Well… that was…. Strange.

The shadow houndoom barred her teeth, dark gaze on the ghostly figure that materialized before them. Maverick was quick to halt the aggressive shadow pokemon, reaching into his pocket and tossing a sphere at the yamask. The ball hit, sucking the pokemon in the locking in place. Despite the pokemon being safely in the sphere, the canine still seemed on edge. Maverick sighed, why are shadow pokemon so…. Edgy all the time.

A dark vicious snarl caught the burnt man off guard, crimson colored orbs flickered in the direction that his massive houndoom was barring her teeth at. A brow rose, spotting the wild runerigus several paces away. “Easy Azula,” the man mumbled, a hand jutted out in mock holding her back, “It’s just investigation us. Don’t engage.”[break][break]

The hell hound let out a snort, but didn’t back down. Silence filled the air between them, the ghost incense bellowing more scents into the cool fall breeze. And after several minutes of a stand off, the ghost and ground type turn to flee. It if wasn’t looking for a specific pokemon, Maverick would have caught it. Alas, it’s not what he wanted. “Come Azula,” the man mumbled, hands returned to his pockets as he turned his back to the wild pokemon, “Let’s keep going.”

It wasn’t that he needed anything from the safari zone. After all, Maverick had more than he could handle. Yet, there was a pokemon in the safari zone that had his attention. And with little to nothing to do at the moment of time, the ex gym leader took it upon himself to stroll through the wilderness of the safari zone.[break][break]

Normally, it was Azula who accompanied him. However, the man really needed to start bonding with his other pokemon. And with how chill the safari zone was, Maverick decided to use this as a good bonding start with Valare. Of course, the burnt scarred man had to explain to the shadow houndoom that attacking it not allowed. She didn’t like that, but it is what it is.[break][break]

Fall has began to take over the region, leaving a chill in the air. Luckily, Maverick was well dressed for the colder weather didn't bother him. With a heavy sigh, the trainer pressed on into the wilderness with the shadow pokemon by his side.

It was crazy to think that just four years ago, the burnt scarred man came to Hoenn in hopes to start over and turn over a new leaf. And even crazier that nine years go, he started his journey of being a pokemon trainer. Yet in those nine years, the man had little to show for all his years of hard work and dedication to this new profession. Yes, he has owned and ran tow gyms in his life time. And yes, he has had countless of badges. But other than that, what else did he have to show for it?[break][break]

Crismon colored orbs flickered from worn down beaten path of my pyre, finding himself on this path more often than he thought. He grunted to himself, igniting the incense and lifting it up into the cool fall breeze air. Within seconds, light smoke bellowed from the items and drifted into breeze. By his side, his beloved hell hound Azula stood tall and regal. Her nose lifted into the air, nostrils flared to take in the scents that lingered on the breeze. No words came from the trainer, only a sigh to himself in disappointment in himself. Why was he so hesitant on taking on the elite four? This wasn’t like him. What’s wrong?

Like the league dog he was, they called and he answered.[break][break]

Crimson colored orbs glared at the swarm of hearten that funneled through the cavern, brows furred in mild puzzlement as to why they appeared to be fleeing the area. Some of them merely skirting by, while others engaged in battles with them. “Azula,” the man mumbled, the six foot seven houndoom leaping before her trainer as a stream of red hot flames came at him. The canine took in a deep breath, letting loose her own blast of flames to redirect the flames that streamed towards them. The two attacks collided, an inferno of fire only for the fire blast to win the fight and blast the heatran with fire. But before Azula nor the heatran could continue their battle, Maverick was quick to change direction. “Let’s go Azula. We don’t have time.” The hell hound snorted, snarling at the heatran before darting after her human.[break][break]

Once pass the swarm of heatran, the tunnel opened to a vast clearing. The sounds of dripping water from stalactites hit his ear drums. Long arrow tipped tail twitched behind the canine like an angry cat, Azura’s own ruby colored orbs scanned the area for trouble. In the center, the brunt scarred man spots the strong lettering. He observes as others press forward, some more careful than others. For when some of them crossed a path, the earth beneath their feet crumbles. That wasn’t good.[break][break]

With nothing to do other than press on, Maverick and his beloved houndoom choice a path. Each step careful, listening for signs of the earth weakening beneath their feet.[break][break]

His stomach turned, the smell of rotten flesh burned his nose and into his memories. It was horrible. It took all he had not to throw up his food from early. But strangely enough, his comrades didn’t seems as fazed as he. Are they monsters too?[break][break]

Elaine Highland was quick to see what path they needed to take next, summoning a creature of flying and taking off without a hitch. Their leader, John Sullivan, was quick to follower her lead, an orbeetle materializing within seconds. Taking in a deep breath, Maverick waved their leader off and reached for his own creature of flight. This time, the man brining a green hydreigon as his creature of choice.[break][break]

Once mounted, Maverick and Orion chased after the other two. But once on the other side, a long hallway that was deteriorating from years of neglect that await them. And along the walls, long and tall boxes were their decor of choice. Maverick raised a brow, casting his fellow explorers a look. Should he dare open them to see what’s in them?

They were off in a blink of an eyes, racing across the line leaving everything in a blur. It speed took Maverick’s breath away, forcing him to hold and learn how to breathe when such speed was blasting him in the face. And before he knew it, the two pokemon began to slow down as the gate came into view. Wide eyes turned to Josh when he spoke, for a minute unable to process his words with his mind still racing over the speed these canine’s had.[break][break]

But a second to two later, Maverick brain clicked. “These things are crazy,” the man breathed out, almost like he might have been holding his breath, “I definitely need to find myself one.” His once stiff and emotionless mask softened, gaze shifted to see Satharo huffing and puffing though over all seemed more ‘live’ than normal. At least they didn’t lose him, right? “Okay,” the man mumbled, carefully getting off the Cyclizar once it came to a stop, “Yeah. I’m sure he would love a good run again.”[break][break]

Once off, Maverick’s crismon colored orbs fell back on Josh. “Thanks for the ride. See you around.” A single hand rose to give a single wave in farewell, the burnt scarred man getting one last look at his next pokemon he for sure wanted before heading back into town. Satharo giving the other two pyroars a nod before following after Maverick.
