The human species seemed so fragile to her. A simple good bite or attack could easily kill them. Yet for some reason, pokemon were the subordinates to them and listen without question. Human’s capture and tame pokemon only to use them to fight and defend for them. Was it because they knew they were so weak and couldn’t do it themselves that they seek stronger species to do their bidding for them? Do they know if us pokemon wanted to truly fight back we would win easily and they would became extincated? Why is it in their nature to want to follow a weak human and do whatever they say? It made no sense to her yet, she would follow Maverick into the oblivion and even risk her life to save his. Why?

The massive hell hound seek reassurance from this strange human as she attended to her master’s wounds. Her ruby colored orbs stared deeply into her pool of emeralds in search for answers. It was rather unfortunate that human’s and pokemon didn’t share the same language to better communicate. But despite the barrier between them, the intelligent canine found her answer in her eyes and sat by them. A soft quite whimper escaped her as she observed the woman’s work. Azula’s gaze fell upon her master’s, hoping that Yveltal doesn’t take her master away.

A sudden slap on his chest made him blink out of his moment of daze. Hazy vision cleared, turning to the woman that hit him. “Oh right,” he mumbled trying to remember what they were talking about but with no prevail, “What were we talking about again?” But before Mav could remember, a digital female voice chimed up and a porygon came to them. It flashed a series of images before them with Maverick either being too out of it to understand or just straight up didn’t understand them. He squinted at them in an attempt to read them, but gave up just as quickly as the waves of lightheadedness washed over him.

The woman said something might sting. Maverick was about to make a joke when he felt the intense burning sensation engulf his arm within seconds of her warning. His jaw clenched tightly, holding his breath as the burning woke him up quickly from his moment of unawareness. He cursed under his breath, turning his head away from the woman so she won’t see him silently suffering. He heard her say something about Lukas but again, it was words his brain didn’t understand. In fact, his whole body was more focused on the burning sensation that did start to dye down a little. Still, the man let out a gasp of air before re-holding his breath to deal with the pain. He didn’t know what hurt worse, the initial bite or whatever she was doing to his arm.

While Maverick dealt with the pain and Lukas remained still, one of the houndour’s emerged from pits shadows. The floppy ear pup trotted up the woman and playfully pawed at the woman legs, giving the woman a playful bow and a little bark. Azula let out a snarl at the puppy. The puppy ducked her head, sitting and leaning against the new human’s leg. She hung her head, avoiding Azula’s death glare in hopes the new human would give her some attention. The snarl got Maverick attention, turning back to see Arya at the doctors feet. A stiff hand chuckle half cough escaped him. “That’s Arya,” he explained to Eva, “She’s the friendliest one here.” Arya pushed back more against the human’s leg, still avoiding Azula’s glare while trying to get the human to touch her. “Ayra,” Mav spoke softly, “She’s busy right now. Please go play with the others.” The puppy turned to give Eva the biggest puppy’s eyes she could give.

This human woman seemed to be a smart one unlike some other human’s her master came across. She never understood why the human species thought it would be okay to touch her, or what the humans called ‘pet’. She wasn’t a puppy no more and honestly, she never really like the idea of being ‘petted’. The canine wasn’t some dog that could be won over by them putting their grabby hands on her. A muffled snort escaped her. Her master was lucky that she allowed him to ‘pet’ her every now and again. Either way, the canine gave this new woman a slight bow of her head when she greeted her before returning to her master’s side.

Mav had must of guessed right as Chryssa gave a small applaud for the correct answer. He huffed playfully, warm digits flickered from her to the wild creature on the other roof who seemed to have gave up on trying to get over here. It was indeed, too easy. But just as the woman was about to call out something else, another creature appeared before them. Well… got stuck to her pokemon. The man observed as the woman tossed the ball to capture the creature before she returned her attention back to their little game.

Something green and white.

His warm orbs flickered over her line of view, eyes squinted in hopes to find this mysterious green and white thing she spotted. That was, until a luxio leaped up onto their roof top in front of them. Without thinking, the man mumbled loudly “Luxio” forgetting that they were still playing the game. He turned to his canine to exchange a look. The hell hound got to her feet, stretching a little before trotting towards the Luxio who made its way closer to the probopass to investigate it. Without much care in the world, the canine created behind the creature while it was distracted by the electrical discharge Chryssa pokemon was emitting.

When close enough, her muzzle opened wide to clamp down on the poor little lion’s tail. This send the cat into a hissy fit as it shifted to slash at her. Azula dodged that attack, dragging the cat closer to her human by its tail. Maverick let out a chuckle and a small nod, reaching into his pocket to pull out an empty pokeball. When close, Azula let the cat go only to send a waves of sludge bombs at it. The thick substance stuck to the creature fur, the toxic scent soon became to much as it passed out before them.

Maverick tossed the ball at the unctuousness creature to capture it before turning back to Chyssa. Then, it clicked. “Oh, Luxio wasn’t my answer by the way.”

It didn’t take long for the pair to come across another creature in the safari zone. And like the safari zone workers promised, it appeared to be a shiny oricorio dancing in the sunlight. The pink creature softly chanted its name as it moved its hips in some kind of choreographed pattern with its own humming. Arm like appendages moves gingerly in the air from left to right. It was so into its dance that it didn’t even noticed the human and his canine company behind it. Maverick let his gaze flickered to Azula, reaching into his pocket to pull out the special ball he was forced to use.

And with a simply flick of the wrist, the ball was tossed and clanked the creature on the top of the head. It was clearly taken by shock as it blinked before getting sucked into the ball. Once closed, the safari ball fell to the earth with a soft thud. There was a reason he caught this creature but if it was that dizzy, Mav wondered if it was even worth spending the extra money on the safari ticket. While they waited for the confirm capture, the trainer searched for another pokemon to capture.

A rumor of a horde of sableye caught the burnt scarred man’s attention. Warm crimson colored orbs flickered from left to right, silence filled the air as he searched for this sudden pack of rare ghost and dark types hidden in the forest. Despite not being a gym leader anymore, the man still had he urge to protect Rustboro City from things he could handle on his own. Not the mention, sableye was both his type specialty and word had it that a shiny one was spotted in the crowd. Although Maverick didn’t really care of a creature was shiny or not, something about it caught his attention and dragged him here.

A low unsettling growl ratted in his beloved six foot seven houndoom’s chest. She lifted her nose into the air, nostrils flared as a gentle breeze washed over them. Sableye were a sneaky bunch, being both clever and quick. But before the man could ask the canine what she sensed, a snap of a fallen branch got both of their attention as a sudden waves of purple shadowy figures rushed towards them. Their shadow so blurred that he thought he saw a bunyip at first.

A gleam of their gem in the moon light hinted to what it was. The man gave the canine a nod towards one creature in particular, spotting the oddly colored one in the middle of the crowd. Within seconds, a wall of flames erupted from the hell hounds mouth and washed over the sea of sableye. The main aim was for the shiny as the flames engulfed the center of the swarm in hopes to knock out some and send the rest fleeing back to were they came from.

It didn’t take long for Azula to find a scent to track. Her ebony nostrils flared just inches off the ground, slowly creeping forward as she followed the scent. And to the man’s disappointment, the trail lead to a creature he honestly didn’t really like. The oddly colored happily waddled straight up to them without a care in the world. Maverick frowned at the happy little creatures. Despite it being shiny and all, he didn’t want it. A nod to the left indicated to the hell hound he wasn’t interested. The canine snarled at the fairy type, lips peeled back to reveal her pearly whites at it. The creature frowned before turning and fleeing from the scary canine. Once the creature was gone, the two moved on to find another wild pokemon to capture.

It has been a long time sense he was last in the safari zone. In fact, it was six months ago when he snagged a few darmanitan from here. It was amazing how fast time goes by when you are always busy. And although it saddened him deeply that he gave the his gym leader title, it was also nice to finally get some time to himself. Of course, he wasn’t giving up on his goal of becoming an Elite Four. But he was indeed, taking some time to himself and working with his pokemon to get them ready for the tough road ahead of them. Warm crimson colored orbs flickered of the vast wilderness of the safari zone, spotting several pokemon in the far off distance peacefully running around and basking in the spring sunlight.

A cool breeze washed over the grass land that sent any loose debris onto the air, dancing about in the breeze as he man took in a deep breath. Today was going to be a weird one but quick one. His gaze fell to his hands that held a special and pricey item. An item that was to gain him both four balls to catch pokemon and only summon shiny creature to him. Normally, Maverick wasn’t the type to really care if a creature was shiny or not. But, there was something he was after this time. He exhaled, gaze lifted to fall upon his trusty canine. He nodded to the creature, indicating he was ready to start the search. The hell hound lead the way further into the terrain.
