CALLAN HADN’T BEEN ENTIRELY CORRECT. as far as he can see, elinor is no where to be found. granted, his venture into sootopolis is far from all inclusive, even with the clemency of rocket’s exodus, but sleuthing among the populace isn’t all too hard. for what rocket utilizes to infiltrate the league can always be repurposed.

the submarine is only vaguely familiar. his time in rocket captivity was mostly unconscious. what he does remember is the searing pain. the countless steps of footsteps against hollow metal.

this time, he will know it well.

“YOU CAN KEEP IT OPEN,” fernando mentions offhandedly to the bartender. the gleam of gold letters against a black card has long lost its luster within ever grande. the novelty of encountering such a card is lost with such frequent visits.

he takes his seat at the bar. it’s mostly empty this early in the day. the exchange of having to sit through a hearing is that there’s no real end time in sight. blocking out his calendar in anticipation of it running over leaves him unexpectedly free.

which applies to his partner as well.

FROM THERE, fernando commandeers the conversation. he elaborates on the point of team rocket’s infiltration, agreeing with eva, that it’s an impossible ask. too many have gotten through. and too many will continue to do so. instead, he leverages that he exploits their system.

the nuances between what they lose versus what they gain is discussed at a high level. fernando argues that work they relied on priam conrad to facilitate, and free up the head scientist of illeana reyes and Eva Morales, counter act what they’ve lost. but even fernando cannot convince everyone.

so, instead, they double back. by now, PENELOPE LIVY should be no stranger for his knack of circular conversations. just around about way of talking about the same thing using different words.

it’s a game of chicken. who gets tired first. who runs out of time.
