glossary

On this page, recurring terms or names of organizations have been listed for your convenience. This is not required reading unless your character is involved with anything below.

aether foundation

An organization based in the Alola region dedicated to scientific research and Pokemon rehabilitation. Although their main location of operation is in Alola, they possess branches all around the world. The Hoenn branch of the Aether Foundation works closely with Mossdeep Space Center to develop space technologies. In the past, Megalopolan, Jules Cotillard, used Aether resources during his masquerade as a Mossdeep Space Scientist to recreate a machine that helped open Ultra Wormholes.

a.q.u.a. initiative

The Avatar Quality and Universal Action Initiative is a task force created by the League in order to employ avatars to deal with extreme threats to the region. Furthermore, it is designed to help avatars to reach their full potential and to provide them with the resources and training to better control their powers. The Initiative has warranted both praise and criticism from the public.

Current "official" members include Matias Silph, Kyle Lopez, Laurence Anderson, John Douglas Sullivan, Melody Miro, Greyson Connors, Isaac Merlo, Remiel Calcifet, and Fernando Silph (special contract). Others involved in the contract include Dahlia Goode, Eva Morales, Illeana Reyes, Penelope Livy, Freya Morningstar, and Ollie Morales. Michael Navidson is also a member, recruited by Kyle Lopez for his potential.

crystablooms

A potentially invasive species of flora that has spread across Hoenn before becoming sparse after Necrozma's attack on Sootopolis. These glowing flowers possess a crystal heart that houses an exorbitant amount of Infinity Energy.

devon corporation

A prominent company based in Rustboro City. Originally, Devon was a small company that mined rocks and smelted iron sand to iron many years ago; however, Devon had moved on to creating useful products geared toward Pokemon training and Pokeball manufacturing. However, the company had fallen upon hard times. In 2021, energy businesses under Devon Co. have been acquired by Infinity Industries, while Silph Co. has bought out the rest.

draconids

An ancient people that lived in Meteor Falls Village a long time ago, during a time where meteors constantly showered the area. After the creation of Sootopolis' crater, the Draconids helped quell the resurgence of Primal Groudon and Kyogre's conflict with the help of Rayquaza. In celebration, they created the Sky Pillar on an undisclosed Mirage Island in the hopes of summoning Rayquaza again should disaster strike.

Over time, many became the first Avatars of Hoenn. Eventually, many lost their lives while defending against another meteor event while using their Avatar powers. Today, the draconid people are all but gone; however, some descendants may still live on. People who have lived near Meteor Falls and in Sootopolis have long sinced revered the Draconids.

In an alternate universe where Groudon won, the Draconid people use accessories to channel primal or infinity energy to prevent themselves from intoxication or being overwhelmed by these powers.

drk triad

A shadow organization that has been hunting Avatars, people of influence, and anyone that stands in their way. Their preferred way of assassination is by teleporting victims to other dimensions to strand them; more specifically, some are teleported to a dimension where a Kyurem continually hunts and devours anything within its extradimensional realm.

The organization is responsible for the creation of the Unown Report, a database that catalogues words and meaning from various Unown. It is a mystery why this report exists; however, some fathom that it is a way to decipher the reality-bending powers of the Unown or the inner coding of the universe itself.

The DRK Triad's goal is to ensure Hoenn's early destruction, for they believe Hoenn is what will cause the eventual destruction of the multiverse. Although they are comprised of many members, most of which are not from Hoenn's dimension, the organization is run by four members, who own an Unown-D, Unown-R, Unown-K, and an Unown-A. A fifth member of note has recently been revealed— but they show signs of having defected.

hbs (hoenn broadcasting inc.)

A large television news broadcasting company that works to keep the people of Hoenn informed, providing stiff competition to its rival media group: the Hoenn News Network. Penelope Livy is the chief reporter and partner of the company.

hnn (hoenn news network)

Hoenn's main media company. Based in Mauville City and owned by giant media conglomerate, TV Mauville, the HNN publishes new articles and news shows to report happenings around the region. Unbeknownst to many, the company has been infiltrated by Rockets posing as investigative journalists for a very long time.

illumina pokemon; the illumina state

A curious new phenomenon that has occurred after the Tree of Life & Xerneas' reappearance. Illumina Pokemon are covered in vibrant patterns that can glow. When glowing, an Illumina Pokemon is said to be in the ILLUMINA STATE. An Illumina Pokemon's luminosity is intense enough to be obvious during the day.

Illumina Pokemon may possess odd abilities or moves such as ILLUMINATE to shift into an ILLUMINA STATE.

interdream mist

A mysterious pink mist from the Interdream Zone that occasionally manifests or leaks from the earth. Sometimes the mist reveals PARADOX POKEMON that seemingly appear out of nowhere.

interpol

The International Police is a worldwide law enforcement agency. They interface with various governments around the world in order to gain and provide intelligence. Many agents can be found dispersed throughout the world undercover or not. Logo is from artist, @vergolophus.

infinity industries / greater mauville holdings

Run by CEO Oscar Clayton, Infinity Industries is the new Greater Mauville Holdings. The former has bought out GMH after their value had plummeted from their traitorous involvement in The Ultra Beast War. Currently, Infinity Industries controls a monopoly on Hoenn's energy industries after buying out Devon Corporation's energy subsidaries as well. Clayton is currently working hard to fix their image.

macro cosmos

Macro Cosmos is a large business conglomerate and organization based within the Galar region. However, its vast number of subsidaries have allowed it form branches across the world for technology, construction, video games, and more. The company encountered controversy when their vrmmorpg, Blades & Bulwarks, trapped their players. Unbeknownst to most players, Dahlia Goode has retrieved data from this game with Macro Cosmos' cooperation.

m.a.g.m.a.

A Rocket intiative led by ex-Underboss Chu-e Choi and Gavin Merlino. The "Modification and Adjustment of Genetics to Magnify Avatars" directive was exploring the possibility of infusing regular people with a fraction of the power of Legendary pokemon to create "pseudo avatars." The initiative revealed that it is possible to "create Avatars" by stealing powers from another Avatar, but the exchange is seemingly permanent.

Currently, the initiative is in the process of shifting goals under Gavin Merlino, Martin del Mar, Raphael Pryde, and Killian Decker's supervision.

megalopolans

An alien race that attempted to invade Hoenn during The Ultra Beast War in order to seize energy to power their home city, Ultra Megalopolis. Extended living in limited light has caused madness in much of the Megalopolan population.

pokerus/pokerus-y

Little is known about the Pokérus, except that it is a microscopic life-form that attaches to Pokémon; however, a new strain has been discovered. It has been dubbed Pokérus-Y due to the microscopic life-form's yellowish tint. This is a mutualistic virus, meaning it benefits both host and virus. While infected, Pokémon are said to grow exceptionally well.

primal energy

Primal Energy is a type of bioenergy derived from appears to be ancient rock. The energy appears to restore the ancient potential of Pokemon; however, it has also been the cause of death (fatal primal energy intoxication) for humans like former Champion Bailey Cooper. The League is currently harvesting this energy from old crystals after Groudon's appearance within the region after discovering that the resource can assist with dimensional travel (NOTE: this is a subversion of how Infinity Energy is used from PKMN canon).

Please check the bottom of the Glossary for more information.

purified pokemon

Pokemon of Shadow Pokemon descent that have been "purified" by an influx of Infinity Energy or the Illumina Phenomena. Although these Pokemon show no signs of their Shadow ancestry, they have learned moves like "Morning Sun, Refresh or Heal Bell" as a result of their purification.

sapphire

A division under the A.Q.U.A. Initiative set to prevent legendary Pokemon from aligning themselves with Team Rocket, while empowering those that are under the League. Furthermore, this division attempts to monitor legendary Pokemon that are roaming, in hopes of interfering with Rocket's interactions with them.

seal stones

A series of mysterious artifacts rumored to possess information about the whereabouts of Arceus. The League and Team Rocket have begun uncovering these artifacts in Hoenn and around the universe, using them to access a "Simulated Universe" using Tera Crystal energy.

shadow pokemon

Read the SHADOW POKEMON thread for more information.

silph company

Run by CEO Fernando Silph, the Silph Company is a Fortune 500 that dominates Hoenn's business world. With departments related to Science, Technology, Engineering, R&D, and more, their acquisition of Devon Corporation has led to them becoming the wealthiest business conglomerate in the world. More information can be found here.

spectra

S.P.E.C.T.R.A. is a Rocket-based initiative that was run by former Rocket Admin Remiel Calcifet before his defection, then overseen by Admin Felix Gallagher before he departed to Kanto. In the wake of these changes, leadership has defaulted to the higher echelons of the Rocket organization as a whole.

This unique initiative is designed to counteract the greatest threat facing the organization: the presence of Avatars. As part of this, several training programs, assessments, and exams have been brainstormed and developed by the highest members of Rocket to ensure that Rocket is ready to counteract those celestial threats.

sygna suit

A special piece of attire created to synchronize a human and Pokemon's Infinity Energy (lifeforce). These Sygna Suits involve the use of CRYSTABLOOM HEARTS, the cores of CRYSTABLOOMS to solidify the bond between human and Pokemon, granting them special strength and power.

the battle of dewford/ultra deep sea

A battle between the League and Team Rocket in April of 2023 waged within Ultra Deep Sea and Dewford Town. There, a Seal Stone was discovered and taken by Team Rocket.

the ultra beast war / the three day war

A war led by the Megalopolans on Hoenn in late September of 2020 for the region's resources. Hoenn triumphed in the end, resulting in the capture or deaths of Megalopolan generals.

unnamed battle - name currently being coined icly/oocly

A battle between the League and Team Rocket in early October of 2023. Waged over several days on Route 105, both factions clashed over the formation of a new island and the mysterious energy detected within it.

ENERGIES OF HOENN

BELOW IS A COMPENDIUM OF THE ENERGIES PRESENT WITHIN THE SETTING. Please note that the Bulbapedia articles are linked to provide a general gist of each energy; however, this site takes liberties with the canon to best serve the overarching narrative. In other words, the canon of the Pokemon games is not always the canon of this setting.

dynergy

The energy associated with the Dynamax Phenomenon. Recent developments have revealed that Eternatus' leaking energy (Galar or Dynamax Particles) has been responsible for the appearance of Dynergy in Hoenn since old times. The presence of Dynergy has caused mineral strains to shift into Mega Stone veins that have been refined into Mega Stones.

Power Spots can be created using Dynergy, where trainers can trigger the Dynamax transformation for their Pokemon. Wishing Stars, pieces of Eternatus' body that has fallen onto the region, can be fitted into Dynamax Bands.

infinity energy

Infinity Energy is a type of energy that is derived from and is the life force of Pokemon and humans. Each Pokemon species has their own kind of Infinity Energy and depending on the Pokemon, they may have more or less (e.g. legendaries versus regular species). On Hoenn, a oversurplus of this bioenergy is rumoured to have come from the resurgence of Xerneas within the region after The Ultra Beast War.

Team Rocket has experimented with this energy using an Eternal Floette, finding that it can purify Shadow Pokemon. Furthermore, it has connections with Blue Mulch, a fertile soil that can be used to resurrect dead beings.

Sygna Suits have been fitted with Crystablooms, catalysts for Infinity Energy, that allow trainer and Pokemon to share their Infinity Energy.

mega stone energy

The energy of mega evolution involves the releasing of all of a specific Pokemon’s hidden Infinity Energy at once.

The Draconids believe that Mega Evolution originates from Rayquaza and various meteorites that rained down from the Hoenn region thousands of years ago. Some of these meteorites included Wishing Stars, pieces of Eternatus that contain Dynamax Energy.

primal energy

A powerful energy native to Hoenn and has been harnessed into the Blue Orb and Red Orb of ancient times. Primal Energy may come from Hoennian nature itself, able to restore a specific Pokemon's true powers when absorbed. However, it has been documented that this energy can be dangerous if not fatal for humans.

Within the region, crystals housing Primal Energy can attract powerful Pokemon such as Rayquaza. These crystals can be struck with powerful forces such as a Z-Move or a Pokemon that has Mega Evolved to teleport into other dimensions. Recently, an incoming meteoroid made out of Terastal Crystals was struck by machines fitted by Primal Crystals; however, the Terastal Energy rebounded into these machines, striking the crystals and creating rifts to other worlds (e.g. Ultra Crater).

When harnessed by a Tera Orb, the energy can be used to provide Pokemon a gem-like appearance while simultaneously augmenting their type. Developments have revealed that Terastal Energy can resonate with one's wishes or imagination...

z-move energy

The energy associated with Z-Moves. The Passho Berry is a tropical fruit from the Alola region, is able to be grown in Hoenn, and Pokemon who have ingested this fruit have unlocked the ability to use Z-Moves. Ultra Wormhole radiation from the Ultra Beast Invasion of Mossdeep City have allowed Pokemon to bring out their inner power.

Z-Moves are unique attacks that use up the stored energy within a Pokemon to bring out their full potential. These moves often come in the form of a single, game-changing attack that can turn the tides of battle.

Z-Crystals can be found throughout the universe and in Hoenn. Some of these crystals are presumably fragments of Necrozma.
