After the uneventful meeting with the Gym Leader of the city, Alexei decided to take some time to himself and to gather what little information he had managed to scrape from the encounter.

It was rather unfortunate that the one person he knew that could answer the burning questions he had in mind was not around—who knew where she had gone off to. The way that Alexander had reacted to the presence of his little troublemaker, who was now perched in her favorite position in the world (atop her ‘mama’s’ head) made him wonder what had happened.

Either way, there weren’t too many people around and so here he was, headed towards the gigantic tree that had been planted in the center island, looking for some shade so he could stop and think for a few moments.

Of course, the sleeping Phione perched in his hair would eventually wake up to the nippy late summer wind blowing through the area, making a yawning noise before blinking blearily. Huh? They weren’t in the weird room anymore?

Yay.

Never again. [break][break]

That was what he was telling himself as the young ranger was attempting his morning run. Attempting being the keyword as his body was aching and screaming at him as it clearly hasn't forgiven him for the events from the summer games. With him was the newest member of his team: Whis. The baby pokemon had a ton of energy so Razz figured he may as well attempt to tire him out. Especially since Salem wasn't joining him for the run like he usually did. Most likely to protest the exercise, as Razz was sure he was tired from it too. Maybe doing this so soon after wasn't the best idea, he thought to himself as he was trying to catch his breath and think through the pain. "How are you doing Whis?" he questioned but didn't hear anything back. "Whis?" he looked up to see the cat was out of sight. Just great. [break][break]

What Razz did miss was the white cat running toward the tree in the middle where they were originally running too. The Zeraora not having slowed down as it figured it's trainer was right behind him. The little electric cat probably would have gone back if it didn't notice another person! Excitement about seeing a new person and another pokemon and immediately thought 'new people!' The baby didn't seem to notice they were sleeping, or anything like that why wouldn't they be up and wanting to play? [break][break]

With that train of thought the electric cat would attempt to pounce on the man's lap under the tree so suddenly. Forgive 'em if a small electrical spark came out, they were still learning that part. And maybe forgive that they're gonna try to pat at the mysterious blue pokemon on human's head to see if it wanted to play.

He had taken to sitting down on one of the roots that had spread out in order to get a fresh perspective on things, wondering if he could be able to gather his wits about himself and try to think on what he needed to do next!

His attention was then drawn to some…something that had leapt into his lap and wanted cuddles… even if it did exude some static shock!

“Whoa, hey, what the heck—where’d you come from?” he asked, shaking his hand for a few seconds because yikes he had gotten zapped right then and there. That stung!

“Where’s your owner?”

Up atop his head, the Phione peered down before propelling herself to float into the air—of course now that Alexei was distracted with the white kitty, she could do whatever she wanted! This included zooming in on the nearest human that she saw incoming and promptly squished their face in greeting.

Oops.

The cat just seemed to snicker at the reaction thinking it to be funny as they clearly didn't process completely that it was much stronger than it thought was. Whis watched as the blue thing flew away and it's tail twitched as it looked like they were tempted to pounce at them but stoped when he heard the man questioned where they came from. Though of course they didn't speak and when they were shaking their hand Whis thought it to be a game as he tried to claw at it to try and capture the hand. When asked where their owner was Whis was smart enough to look back to see if said person was still behind them as they kind of forgot to look back before. [break][break]

No longer too far behind Razz did his best to ignore the burn in his legs as he jogged to the tree. The young man faintly recognizing the white fluff of fur who was one someone else. Well so much for trying to find a private place to train him. Though so tired and focused on his own pokemon he failed to notice the little blue blob coming at him, slight panic going through him as something squished into this face making him fall over and landing on his ass. Just what!? [break][break]

Not wanting to hurt whatever was on his face he did attempt to pry it off, "Umm uhh nice.. thingy..." yea he didn't get a good look at what this was, and he was already half blind and this on his face wasn't helping. Though it prying it off wouldn't work he would attempt tickling.

Alexei was distracted in trying to figure out who owned the white-furred cat that was now trying to chomp down on his hand. Wait—wait a second, hey!

“Watch where you sink those,” he warned, raising his hand out of reach. “No, humans are not food,” he added a few moments later, and he caught sight of some more static energy zapping through its fur before being released in a crackle of electricity.

Over where the Phione had gone, she was making excited noises, squishing her face as close as she could to the new human’s own and making all kinds of cooing, gurgling noises before using Tail Glow to make the appendage growing out of her head glow for a few moments…

At least that was the plan, until she went down in a fit of the giggles as the person she’d tried to greet had taken to tickling her to move off from their point of view!

Hearing the familiar squishing, gurgling noise Alexei looked up and saw that—

Oh, fuck.

“Zelle! What are you doing?!” he cried out, standing up and almost sending the white cat on his lap tumbling to the grass below. “Stop smushing yourself into random people’s faces!” he added as he walked out before quickly plucking the blue blob away from the person who had fallen on their ass and was trying to shoo the Phione away.

“Gods, I am so sorry,” he apologized to the other person before holding out a hand to help them get up. “She’s just… really happy when she sees new people and wants to greet them.”

Whis was staring at the human as it told them that humans weren't food. Well that was obvious, humans were for play completely different in the cat's mind. At the sudden yelling Whis did manage to jump off the man's lap as it ran over to his trainer and the mysterious pokemon. Thinking it would be fun the white cat was quick to follow. [break][break]

Not long before the two joined them Razz could only think of how at least one of them was having fun as the little blue thing continued to squish his face making him grimace. Part of him felt that he was going to go blind again as there was suddenly a glowing light in his face as he made sure to close his good eye. Thankfully he was already on the ground so it wasn't like he was going to fall over again, though it seemed like the tickling just tighten it's grip on his face. Though the voice of another seemed to be his saving grace as the thing had finally removed itself from him allowing the ranger to breath again. "Oh thank god," was all he could say as he rubbed his eye to try and get his site back again. Last thing he wanted was the feeling of being completely blind. [break][break]

"It's fine no big deal," he reassures the other, honestly too tired to hold any grudge against the pokemon. He attempts to grab the other's hand to help himself up which his sore muscles were thankful for. Though it didn't seem like Whis was done playing as seeing his trainer on the ground it did tackle him right back down which just made the ranger groan in slight pain. Though since he was holding the other's hand while half way up he just hoped that he didn't take them man down with him. Maybe just laying on the ground would be fine for now "Good to see you too Whis," he grunts out as petted the cat who just giggled, though if they were here then... It didn't take long to connect the dots.[break][break]

"Let me guess, this little guy tried greeting you too in their own little way?"

“Well, they tried to bite my fingers. Also, ouch, that’s a lot of static electricity. How young is your companion?” he asked, once he’d placed the Phione back on her favorite perch—the top of his head.

“Zelle, no. What did I tell you about kissing random people?” he said to the blue blob on his head, who let out a grumbling and huffy noise before settling herself in his hair.

“Where’d you find the cat? I haven’t seen that anywhere until now,” he inquired. Where indeed, especially the fact that the feline was white and it was discharging random bouts of electricity.

“Oh, by the way—I’m Alexei,” he added a few moments later to get the introductions out of the way.

"Yeah that sounds about right," Razz chuckles lightly as he forces himself to sitting position as he smooches Whis's cheeks together, no electricity this time as he did have rubber in these gloves. "What have I said, hands aren't toys," he lightly scolds to which Whis seem to pout some but nodded as their trainer let 'em go. "He's only a week old so I'm really sorry about that, Whis just needs time to practice. As to where I got them it was from the summer festival that just passed over in Slateport City, said to be created from lighting that shot down from the sky," he chuckles lightly at that part knowing it sounded ridiculous but there was no easy way of putting it. Either than man was going to believe him or not. [break][break]

"What about the little light bulb there?" he can't help but look at the blue pokemon now on their head, "I don't think I've ever seen that before, what kind of pokemon are they?"[break][break]

It was only after the person said their name when his tired brain realized that he hadn't introduced himself just yet, damn, "Razz Kingsman, nice to meet you," he introduces himself as he finally forces himself up again after shooing Whis off him, luckily no sparks this time, "Not many people come this area of the island, what brings you?"

Lightning that shot down from the sky? He wondered how random that phenomena was, considering that he’d heard about what had happened during the Pokéathlon.

“Oh, wait—was that during the time the crazy stuff was going down at Slateport beach?” he inquired, hoping that he was right on the mark. While he didn’t have the drive to even try those courses (some of them looked outright dangerous) he was more than content to lounge around on the beach under that sunflower-patterned umbrella of his while chuckling at the insanity that was going on.

He wondered if the lightning had something to do with the shards of mirror that he was carrying around with him, but then again the rumors of where the lightning had struck were too far inland for him to consider that it may have been connected to the rumors he was chasing.

“I wish I knew,” he said of the Phione who was now waving at Razz and the white kitten in greeting. “I only know what she’s called, a Phione. Have you heard of those?” he inquired, before the little troublemaker perched atop his head let out a cooing noise.

“I found her… some time ago in Shoal Cave,” he added a few moments later. “Kind of a strange place where one would find a Water-type, wouldn’t you say?”

"If by crazy stuff you just mean the lightning, or if you're talking about the game events well yes to both," he chuckled weakly thinking about it made his body hurt all the more honestly. "Actually if you don't mind," he pointed toward the tree as he walked toward it in order to sit down and rest. Once more second guessing his decision for a morning run. At first Whis had ran toward the tree finding it to be a race but seemed to pout some as their trainer just sat down. Boo but Razz shooed him a bit, "You're free to play about just keep close," with that it looked toward the other trainer and it's pokemon seeing if it wanted to play. [break][break]

"Phione?" he paused as he tried thinking of local legends, "I think there is a story of some mythical sea pokemon, but i heard that thing causes endless rain, but since its sunny that might not be it" clearly Razz is not too familiar with it. Though the Shoal Caves were just north east of the island so he knows of a few stories the parents tell their kids back at the his apartment of both those caves and the sea in general as Sootopolis was in the middle of it. "Considering that place is mostly filled with ice types it seems like it would be, but it is also surrounded by the sea so maybe the water type isn't too far of a stretch? But that's just a theory of course."[break][break]

“Oh, I don’t mind,” Alexei agreed as he resumed his position, taking a grateful seat back down on the roots that he had stood up from. He wasn’t sure if the tree would mind, but the shade it provided was just absolutely perfect.

“Oh go on, just don’t get into too much trouble,” he said to the Phione who was now looking down at him with a pleading look before letting out an excited squeal as she launched herself off his face to follow the white kitty cat that had most likely run off now that they had a companion to play with.

“She knows Rain Dance, but she can’t control it. You know how normal Rain Dance can be summoned at a distance away from the Pokémon? Zelle there can’t do it. She’s practically the epicenter of the technique when she summons it,” he said with a chuckle as he stole a glance towards where the two Pokémon were playing now, the Phione making the appendage atop her head come alight with Tail Glow.

“I wish I knew I had my answers, honestly,” he added with a sigh as he ran his hands through his hair, mussing it up.

“I don’t know who to ask—I had come from the Gym to ask the Leader if he knew something about her, but he doesn’t have any information either.”

Razz couldn't be more grateful now sitting, with the extra bonus of shading provided by the tree. The young ranger just watched as his new cat pokemon was hyped up with someone else to play with as everyone else was 'tired' or something. While watching them he made sure to listen to the other as he spoke about the oddity that was this blue creature, "So rather than summoning it, she just create it?" he ask to be sure if he was understanding it properly worried a bit as when the Phione started to glow Whis got excited to see it discharging some electricity from his body from the excitement as the little cat would try and pounce and catch the light. "Is she going to be okay? Whis is an electric type and he doesn't have full control just yet," he tried to warn the other. [break][break]

At the mention of the gym leader Razz had a bit of a 'oh yeah we have one of those' sort of moments as hes never really looked them up before. "You can just go to a Gym Leader for questions? I thought they were just for battling for the league challenge?" he couldn't help but ask, "As for people to ask what of some scientist that work with the league, though might be best to look into who you're hiring on that as from experience some of them are crazy."

“Apparently. It’s one of the stranger things she has compared to all my Pokémon who know the exact same move.”

Alexei recounted this experience because of that one time he’d come to the rescue and created several rain corridors headed down to Slatepport beach. He couldn’t believe that it had already been a month ago when that happened. “Most Pokémon have to summon the clouds from somewhere, in her case? Well, it just… comes pouring down around her. Kind of difficult to aim when she can’t control it just right yet,” he added with a chuckle.

Over where the two Pokémon where, the Phione was giggling like an over-energetic school girl as she floated up, slightly away from the little white kitty that was releasing some stray arcs of electricity. She had experience hanging around some of the other Electric-types that her human companion had, and it was bad.

Zap, bad.

“She knows electricity when she sees it. My Manectric and Jolteon like messing with her from time to time when they play around,” he went on, looking right in time to see the Phione start spinning like an airborne top, the strange head appendage still glowing. If it were night time then it would look much like a bunch of fireflies, only gathered right around her.

“Gym Leaders are all sorts of things, not just battlers,” he shared. “It’s not just battling we know much of. I know for a fact that the Grass-type leader from before also had a greenhouse in her Gym and also offered first-aid services to anyone who turned up at their place injured,” he recounted.

As for him? Well.
