LATE SEPTEMBER — as ultra wormholes are sighted in the seas of hoenn, the region begins to be tainted by poisons, the source of which is unknown. for this reason, Lucas Lane, through the league, has entrusted volunteers with a special antidote formula that he has helped create with Thomas Benoit's sludge sample.[break][break][break]

here, off the coast of dewford, in a landfill island made for recycling and waste storage, several pokemon have become incredibly hostile, for they have been affected by the poison in the sea. attempt to clean up the poison, cure the pokemon with Lucas Lane's antidote, and defend against their attacks.[break][break][break]

Gavin's grateful for the gas mask he'd brought along as his Corviknight circles the landfill, searching for a place to land. Within the heaps of stinking trash and broken bottles, a writhing mass of waste presents itself as a target: Garbodor.[break][break]

His attention, however, focuses in on the other wild Pokemon who suffer from the toxins and lash out in their rage.[break][break]

Corviknight's feathers scatter sunlight as it finds its perch atop a mound of trash, its thick talons struggling to find purchase in the shifting waste. Not wanting to hop from its back and risk injury from a fall — or from more sinister sources, such as whatever had consumed the corpse of the dead man below — Gavin tosses a pokeball from the back of his mount. An Alolan Ninetales bursts from her prison in a flurry of snow, thanks to her ability.[break][break]

"Heal Bell!" he shouts, clinging to Corviknight's back. "As much as you can!"[break][break]

With a gentle howl of affirmation, the majestic dual-type fluffs out her tail and casts a wave of purifying energy across the fields of trash.

marcel enters on an identical corviknight, steel feathers stirring toxic air. he is silent, save the rasping breaths through his gas mask. his feet sink slightly into the trash as he jumps to the ground, immediately reaching into the pocket for a pokeball. when he releases his ponyta, a PASTEL VEIL drifts around the landfill.

his rotom-phone floats beside him, filming the carnage. marcel has already requested a formal report, but there's no harm in surplus data. they don't know what they were dealing with here. the camera settles on the waste collector; marcel follows its line of sight, only to tear his gaze away. his dry retches are lost to the commotion.

dominic is wearing a gas mask because he came prepared and isn’t about to inhale the fumes from that thing. the light from his togekiss’s SUNNY DAY glints off his sunglasses as the man steps off his garchomp. his gait is swaying; he hasn’t slept in 72 hours and he’s lagging behind gavin and marcel.

he tosses out his houndoom’s pokeball and prompts it to mega-evolve, gesturing vaguely at the trash pokemon as a command. the pokemon gives a snarl in acknowledgement and lunges forward, flames flickering at its paws and in the recesses of its throat.

a voice calls out from ahead and dominic glances up from his phone, narrowing his eyes against the sun and the tint of his glasses just in time to catch his houndoom barrel over a woman. he quirks his eyebrow and calls out a muffled and half-hearted "sorry."

the houndoom doesn’t seem to notice as it rounds on the garbodor, its SOLAR POWER flaring in the wake of its INFERNO as it sets the trash heap alight.

"don't die." her statement is directed towards her superior in what could be considered, possibly, sincere. although, its mostly because she was hitching a free ride on his garchomp. watching from the corner of her eye as he dealt with the offense, she focused her attention onto the rampaging pile of living trash.

while the poisons of ultra space wasn't unknown news, its intense effect on the pokemon surrounding the area never ceased to amaze her. further studying would have to be conducted. however, if the sludge could be used to create an antidote, then surely it could be used to replicate the powerful effects in a more contained and controlled environment? although, the idea of giving some of the members of rocket giant, destructive beasts at their disposable was akin to giving children forks when there was nothing but electrical sockets around.

as they whirl closer, she began to speak into the phone she held, cupping her lips so the whipping wind wasn't a problem. "crowe, reporting in." she began to analyze and break down the situation, pausing the thorough analysis when something caught the corner of her eye.

"....yes, i'm still here-" she paused once more, distracted.

"....is that the champion?" her report stops midway through, as a crazed woman books it into the fray with enough vigor to put most to shame. "....i'm seeing things." circe waved off the blur with a hand, focusing her attention back onto the clash with the trash pokemon.
