LATE SEPTEMBER — as ultra wormholes are sighted in the seas of hoenn, the region begins to be tainted by poisons, the source of which is unknown. parts of hoenn's seas darken with toxic waste, like oil spills. for this reason, head scientist, lucas lane, has entrusted volunteers with a special antidote formula that he has helped create with elite four, thomas benoit's sludge sample.[break][break][break]

here, in petalburg woods, several pokemon have become incredibly hostile, for they have run into a pool of poison, left by some unknown source. attempt to clean up the poison, cure the pokemon with lucas lane's antidote, and defend against their attacks.[break][break][break]

"sucks that i've been having a pretty swell week, cause now i'm gonna send ya packing, but fiiiiiirst...the henchmen. ready skywalker?" the lucario nodded as he watched the other pokemon who had become hostile thanks to the poison were starting to surround them, the steel and fighting types gaze darted between them all before he rushed forward with an extreme speed to take out as many as he could in the blink of an eye. right behind him was kazimir who was going around poking the ones that his lucario managed to knock out with the antidote provided to them to calm them all down and cure them of their toxins. Small, irrelevant clues left by the attacks of feral, poisoned pokemon that they have to deal with. A dead body here, a scorched forest there - what does it all mean? Why is it even necessary? It doesn't feel like an act of war, or at the very least, not a direct one. Once more, Mauville's gym leader travels after receiving a report and being assigned to take care of whatever poisoned beast this was.

Katherine's Gallade, Arthur, ensures that they arrive quickly enough by TELEPORTING repeatedly. A Claydol eventually replaces him, if only because Kat didn't want to tire him out.

Upon arrival, Katherine sends out her white-flower Florges, who appears to be distraught both by the image of the pools of poison and the scent it spread. "Make sure no one stays poisoned for too long, alright?" She's given a nod in response by the fairy-type, who's already set on changing the terrain of the battlefield. It turns grassy and the scent of poison is repelled by those of blooming flowers. This change of view is accompanied by the sound of bells, a HEAL BELL executed in order to cure other pokemon.

Katherine, in the meantime, cures some of the smaller pokemon herself with the antidote she'd been provided. They seem to regain their composure afterward, turning less violent and more benevolent.

Ever since the failed diplomacy mission, weird reports have been coming out left and right, about weird situations and poisons never seen before. The mention of these poisons reminded Balder of the poison shower he had while in Megalo Tower. If it hadn't been for his steel skin back then, surely he would've fallen.[break][break]

But now it was starting to grow out of control. Some pokemons had been affected by the poison pools and now a Mega Gengar, of the Galarian Variant, was on a rampage. As most individuals were focusing on the wildlings running around, Balder was moving towards the Mega Gengar. It was time to bring it down and help the others on their job a bit.[break][break]

Balder summoned his Palossand, which could be considered Gengar's nemesis due to his typing. As soon as he appeared upon the field, the sand castle used his Earth Power to isolate and strike the Gengar. Then, it began releasing multiple Shadow Balls to keep it at bay and weaken him all the same.[break][break]

If at all possible, Balder would then take the antidote in his hand and throw it inside the Gengar's massive maw. Hopefully this would allow the creature to get back to its senses and calm down.

Why was he so far away from Fortree?

Apparently he was one of the few that had a Breloom that knew Poison Heal, which was pretty strange, but—these jobs were getting stranger and stranger to be honest.

Blinking as he was dropped off in Petalburg City, he swapped out his team on the most part but kept his Salamence and Braviary on-hand should shit go south quickly (as they tended to in strange situations like this).

Finding himself in the place he almost jokingly considered ‘home’ for a while (blame the Arceus-damned Cacnea search) he crinkled his nose up at the noxious odor. It made his eyes water, not to mention his nose sting.

Ugh, that’s disturbing… he thought as he quickly unballed the Breloom, letting her hit the grassy ground with a soft thudding noise.

Yikes.

What was with all the downed Pokémon by the wayside? Oh, right…

“Go get the smaller ones and bring them here for me, can you? I—wouldn’t trust anything else but you to go through that,” he asked the Breloom, and watched as the dual-type traipsed around the area, irritated at the powerful noxious odor.

Thankfully the Poison Heal ability she had kicked in instead of taking damage, and she was back with a Wurmple that had all but curled up out of sheer terror.

“Yikes,” was all he could say as he quickly administered the antidote, watching as the little Wurmple uncurled itself from the tight ball and eventually relaxed. It looked a little better… right?

It seemed as though Aedan had a penchant for landing himself into trouble; perhaps he should count himself lucky that his Zangoose, Rikki, had just as much a knack for getting him out of it.

As Aedan had brazenly navigated Petalburg Woods, seeking all manner of critter, they came across a spot of corruption amidst the thicket of trees and brush. Already the enemy had come so close to his home, all without them knowing. Or at least him.

As soon as Rikki and Aedan crossed towards the ongoing conflict, Rikki took the initiative, even thrusting Aedan backwards behind him before taking off. With its blinding speed it rushed headlong into battle—for the sake of a small boy.

During its skirmish with the wild pokemon it became inextricably coated with the volatile substance pooling in the forest, and yet it showed no signs of corruption. No, in fact, it had become all the stronger for it... this poison was its boon.

"R-rikki!" A voice cries out from behind, but the beast knows only its battle lust as it charges forth unimpeded by the ghastly, grim remnant with its mouth agape as it whooped with laughter. But as its ghostly influence raked at Rikki only to pass right through it, Rikki leapt and raised its claws high as its pursuit finally brought it face-to-face with the enemy. "RaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAGH!"
