YOU SURVIVE THE DARKNESS. You are one of the few, the lucky, and the unfortunate enough to still be stuck in Necrozma’s domain. A pitch blank canvas makes understanding the remnants of Slateport near impossible despite the numerous trainers that steady themselves to take their final stand. For many of them, they won’t understand their demise until it’s already too late. Others will remain hidden, tripping over invisible rubble, unaware of their surroundings due to the
DARK ZONE. [break][break]
MOLTRES is the only one able to shed any light amidst the encroaching darkness. Hoenn’s premier avatar takes her place on the front lines, maintaining her distance with
TAILWIND. Her presence is the only signal of resistance the others can see as the Necrozma darts out of vision constantly. Only the sound of piercing flesh and crumbling buildings show any signs that the beast remains in Slateport. Her
SNUBBLE is struck by the beast’s large claws, ran through by one of its nails, but still breathing as its flung away and into a tattered shop.[break][break]
ROSELIA’S TOXIC SPIKES lay down the foundation to sting anyone unfortunate enough to miss the subtle caltrops. Unfortunately, they find no purchase against the hovering beast. Balder can spot it only for a moment before it shift in mid-air, propelling itself into the incoming
PETAL BLIZZARD without care. Each series of petals hit the beast but they fail to scratch its surface, wilting on contact, falling onto the floor harmlessly. [break][break]
His
BRAIXEN will not share the same privilege. Without mercy, the Necrozma grabs the Pokemon, crushing it into a pulp within its fist, absorbing the Pokemon as a shroud of darkness covers the Pokemon’s corpse. The
GIGA DRAIN is able to sap some of the Pokemon’s energy, as well as the dying
BRAIXEN'S, before Necrozma retaliates. It fires its own version of
TOXIC SPIKE, crucifying the
ROSELIA with a special, dark nail. The black rod seeps into the Pokemon’s flesh, disappearing as its assimilated.[break][break]
[break][break]
But one meal will not whet the Ultra Beast’s voracious appetite. The combined army of Gavin and Oscar’s Pokemon attempt to subdue the enemy with sheer numbers. Like a nest of agitated Durants, they swarm, picked off one at a time as the Necrozma ignores their harmless stings in exchange for squashing them one by one. As the apex predator, it sees no challenge in these ‘normal’ Pokemon, lining them on its fingers like fresh kabobs. Each one provides a tasty morsel, their screams wallowing in the distance as everyone’s vision continues to fade in and out due to the sudden distortion.[break][break]
[break][break]
A developing
TRICK ROOM proves to be much more effective on Necrozma in comparsion to Mossdeep’s Guzzlord. It slows the flickering Beast to a standstill, illuminating its figure in a show of light, until it recognizes the Braixen’s machinations. While fresh blood still stains its visor like prism, its colors dilate in a series of different colors before the
TRICK ROOM inverts into a
DARK ROOM. Anyone still inside loses all sense of sight despite the sound of a
FLAMETHROWER brushing up on against a solid surface. The last thing the
BRAIXEN will feel is its wand ripped from its hand, crippling its magic as a crystal like substance starts to creep up its furred arm.[break][break]
The sudden reprisal of light through an
ELECTRIC TERRAIN grabs the Necrozma’s attention. Unfortunately, Razz will not find victory in duplicity. The
DISCHARGE from his
ROTOM does indeed charge up his
ZERORA but that’s not enough to put a dent in the Beast. It’s
PLASMA FIST lights up and the Mythical Pokemon manages to land several clean strikes, causing the Necrozma to flinch before it swats the
ZERAORA away. [break][break]
Before Necrozma can finish of Razz’s
ZERAORA with a follow up attack, Oscar’s
ZERAORA comes to the rescue by coincidentally attacking from a different angle. His
NIDORINA lands a clean
IRON TAIL too, trapping it between Oscar’s Pokemon. For a moment, the Necrozma remains motionless, fledgling a false hope that the Rocket Beast has put up some sort of resistance. But that’s just the amount of time it needs to reverse the
ELECTRIC TERRAIN, tainting the source of light with its own element.[break][break]
A
DARK TERRAIN spreads through the uprooted concrete. Both
ZERAORA and fast enough to leap away from the sudden change, suspecting the worst, but the same cannot be said for either Oscar’s
NIDORINA or Razz’s
ROTOM. Both seem to be infected by the Pokemon’s influence as they’re rendered unconscious. [break][break]
Valerio's
PSYDUCK, despite its headache, is arguably the smartest Pokemon here. Along with Valerio, they attempt to flee, avoiding the confrontation entirely while bombarding the enemy with ranged attacks. Too far to really make out the Necrozma due the constant darkness, they have no idea how effective their attacks are. By chance, the
PSYDUCK is hit by one of the Necrozma’s
DARK SPIKES, impaled and left to sink in the Slateport sea.[break][break]
Gavin’s Pokemon continue to follow up with their attacks. The conveyer belt of constant appetizers is met with both a swift and merciless demise as the Necrozma makes short work of any and all opposition. By now, it can recognize the source, viewing him as more of a source of food than an actual opponent.[break][break]
A set of
MIRACLE EYES manage to identify the Necrozma despite its camouflage. Both
METAGROSS and
ESPURR are able see the prisms of the Pokemon in detail but so does it as it seems to stare back at their respective directions. For a moment, it seems to decide between which target to go after, until Ruby’s
METAGROSS attacks with
METEOR BEAM. That pulls its attention for a moment as it puts its hands up to take the attack head on. And, when the beam strikes, it his the crystal protrusions on Necrozma’s hands, causing them to glow with cosmic energy.[break][break]
[break][break]
Necrozma retaliates with its own
BEAM ATTACK. Each prism on its visor flashes in a specific order before an equally bright attack erupts from its hands. Thankfully, Ruby’s
URSHIFU manages to
DETECT and avoid the attack by leaping out of range, but her
METAGROSS is not as fortunate. The Pokemon is immediately knocked out, rendered unconscious as its brain is scattered and corrupted. [break][break]
That just leaves Kyle. The Charmander in his hand stirs as a brief glow bonds the Pokemon to his core. Ho-oh’s gift of revival grants the Pokemon a second chance but also paints him as a prime target. Somehow, the Necrozma seems to be aware of this, honing in on him as it takes off in a burst of speed. [break][break]
Another one of Gavin’s Pokemon puts up a valiant effort of trying to halt the beast but it is unnoticeably crushed like an insect flying against oncoming traffic. It goes splat, torn apart by razor sharp claws, and absorbed into the Pokemon’s body. [break][break]
MISTY TERRAIN starts to unfurl as pink turns to black. Even the
LIGHT SCREEN and
REFLECT are no match in impeding the Pokemon’s progress. It stops, momentarily, to grab onto both screens, cracking them in half in a show of force. However, this buys enough time for his Espurr to lash out with a
PSYCHC blast.[break][break]
And, like with every other Pokemon that has fought back so far, Necrozma counters with its own version. This time, the
PSYCHIC is matched with the exact copy, distorting gravity in a small field before the
PSYCHIC overtakes the small cat and launches it into the horizon. [break][break]
[break][break]
It is Kyle’s other Pokemon that seems to stand a chance. His
SILVALLY, as if created for this moment, bleeds aggression. It exists solely to combat these creatures but Necrozma has been left out of its biological programming. Not enough data exists, so the Pokemon can only rely on its pooled experience and instinct. The
TRI-ATTACK strikes the Necrozma directly onto its prisms, stunning it long enough for Cosmoem to follow up.[break][break]
The
COSMOEM starts to channel its
COSMIC POWER but stops once the Necrozma gets too close. It shudders due to its exposure, its facial expression dying in the pool of stars and space dust, as it returns to sleep. When the Necrozma regains its composure, it continues, undaunted, until the
COSMOEM reawakens with the sole purpose of protecting Kyle. The two Ultra Space Pokemon exchange stares, communicating through a series of illegible windchime-like cries.[break][break]
[player]https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/audio/cries/necrozma.mp3[/player]
[break][break]
“LUGIA!”[break][break]
From outside of Kyle’s line of sight, a
SHADOW STORM clocks the Necrozma from its blindside. A follow up
THUNDER strikes the beast true, revealing it in a flash, as it stumbles several meters back and into Slateport port. From above, a
HYBER BEAM tries to finish off the down Pokemon, ripping through several piers, and, for a moment it looks like it does when the Necrozma falls into the water.[break][break]
Whether its the terrifying
ROAR or the
PRESSURE put on by both Pokemon, the Necrozma takes its time to resurface. But when it does it lunges for the throat. Chiseled nails wrap around the neck of both flying beasts, driving them back into the ground as it pounds both of them against broken wood and asphalt. Like toxin, darkness starts to encroach onto Gavin’s Aerodactyl. His
SHADOW LUGIA manages to resist the influence, staring back with utter hatred as it opens its mouth to attack with a point blank
SHADOW BLAST.[break][break]
Up close and personal, the Necrozma has no recourse. In a cruel twist of fate, it’s flung back by the attack in the same manner it had disregarded every other Pokemon here. Surprised by this level of resistance, it flees back into Slateport, nursing its own shock more than any wounds it may have sustained. [break][break]
Near his
SHADOW LUGIA, Gavin will find an odd fragment of unidentified material. It almost looks like a piece of the unknown monster they’ve been trying to curb. And, perhaps united by a common cause,
SHADOW LUGIA seems more open to collaboration, redirecting its hostility into a single cause, for now. [break][break]
