This isn’t a normal ultra wormhole, Katherine decides as soon as her eyes set upon the light-consuming portal ahead. It’s a true rip in space, one she can only recognize by averting her gaze. She’s not just intimidated by this sight— by this very phenomenon, no. This goes beyond that.

She truly fears for her life.

Who, no, what could possibly exist inside it?

“W-What… Is that?” Her voice threatens to break at first, and then it does. She tries to swallow the lump in her throat, but it fails to bring her any comfort. This otherworldly-being drains the very confidence and vanity Katherine’s famous for, leaving her an empty shell.

However, she refuses to die this way. Freezing up in place, and never defending herself? No, she’s too stubborn for that, even now.

“Braixen, TRICK ROOM. If that thing is fast, we have to be faster.” With a twirl of her wand, the psychic-type willed a barrier into life, surrounding them while illuminating the area. Whether if this light is also sucked by the Necrozma or not is not up to them, but Mauville’s gym leader prays that this isn’t them fueling the creature with more power.

“Light it up.” The fox finds solace in her trainer’s words, appreciating the direct approach. Maybe this being could be tamed - but Katherine was far from a scientist, and she wasn’t here to experiment.

The wooden wand is ignited with fire, and before another moment can pass, a furious FLAMETHROWER is shot at the ultra beast, intent on burning it down.
